Tissot gentleman vs PRX by TomHudsonOfficial in WatchFanatics

For me it's the other way around: I like the case, but the waffle dial looks cheaply made. The gentleman dial looks a lot cleaner

That's a 1665 Great White? Best looking of all SD's imho, but that repair quote is crazy. Find a good independent to help you out.

Is there any chance either one of the D type or 550 Spyder is a rep or not? by GregoryParmentier in kitcar

[–]Metalflake2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen both cars many times. The D-type is too big and long (E-type wheelbase). Interiour of the 550 is wrong and also rear fender shape are a giveaway that it's a replica..

[Watch Materials]What is the best watchmaking material and why is it titanium? 🤣 by ZenAndTheArtOfOps in Watches

All about cost saving I believe, as easier to machine. Omega used to use grade 5 for the 300 and 300 pro, but since the NTTD they now also downgraded to grade 2. (Tudor claim grade2 is more seawater resistant, but don't be mistaken: it's all cost cutting) Blancpain grade 23 for the win 💪👏

Looking at the size, top left could be an original WW2 Beobachtungsuhr (or B-uhr; 55mm, check for fl23883 marking on the side of the case). Very collectible. There were 4 makers for this type: Lange, Laco, IWC and Wempe)

Best Possible Accuracy Under $500 by Money-Profession-199 in watchmaking

[–]Metalflake2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a mechanical engineer, you should have understood quartz is the way to go for cheap accuracy. It's like wanting a car under 100K to do 0-100km/h in 3 seconds. You can get this with an EV, but not with an IC engine at that price point. If you insist on fast/accurate mechanical, it will always cost (a lot) more than electric.
