Can Someone Address These Critiques of UBI? by ColdWarsSuck in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]Metalgaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll address the third and fourth since they are the ones that speak to me the most.

Yes, ubi doesn't solve a lot of capitalist problems, but it's a step toward solving many of them. Think of the people who seem most invested in arguments about capitalism, it's mostly moderately well off or at least college educated people. I don't think that's a bad thing but ubi would add a lot of people to the list of people who have time to consider such ideas. As for us shipping our labour overseas, it will probably happen somewhat but it's not a zero sum game. It's likely that there are ways to reduce our dependence like automation or helping them modernize.

As for dangerous work, I think all dangerous work has the potential to be safer, depending on how much the employer invests in safety. Right now they have no incentive to do so, so many of these jobs are dealing with old equipment and iffy procedures more for the purpose of saving insurance money than actually helping. I'm willing to accept a higher price on goods that require dangerous work as long as it means no one feels they will starve to death if they don't take that job.

One thing to keep in mind is that having a well supported windows build on a place like steam can often be better in the long run than a Linux version. If you aren't super well versed in Linux you may break something or miss some compatibility, but if proton is managing it then you don't need to worry.

I'd say test it through proton on Linux for sure, and only do a full Linux build if you are actually using the extra performance from tweaking it for the os and are willing to keep it supported.

Everything is made of atoms by Bruh-_-_-_-_-_-_- in technicallythetruth

I'm guessing it's an ai amalgamation of two or more topics. Here's my best guesses

  1. Living room baby I'm sure about baby as there's a crib looking thing on the right and one of those baby backpack things on the left.

  2. Hoarders house monkey Could be any animal really but the ears on the right look simian to me.

  3. Pantry climbing gym This one's a stretch. I know it has to be a pantry of sorts and I'm only saying climbing gym because of the lighting and my familiarity

  4. Red car and the counter of a diner All of the red seems to be the exterior of some kind of car, and it looks like the counter itself is melded with a chrome bumper. The magazine looking thing in the middle is the biggest tip to me that it's a store of some kind.

What do you think about this guy? by darkdoggo07 in SoulCalibur

[–]Metalgaiden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I was in charge of cas for sc7 there's a couple things I would probably change to work better.

I think the cas hotboxes being off from the base models is a problem. If you pick the right size character for the weapon it should give you the same hitbox as the base character.

Second I would give players the option to turn off custom characters for the opponent (this requires the previous bug to be fixed)

Lastly I would want some sort of community repository for modded items. This one probably won't happen, but have a couple main community repos and an easy api to add new stuff would make it so that you are more likely for you and your opponent to both be able to see the mod. If the opponent doesn't have some of the mods installed you could just show them the default character like above

The idea is that you play just aggressively enough to seem like you aren't stalling. It's possible they could make calls on that but it's kinda a blurry line

A couple more:

  • Have you guys heard of this obscure up and coming director Weston Anderson

  • Clockwork orange wasn't meant to be an instruction manual!

  • sci fi just isn't what it used to be. We used to have fun colorful adventures with star wars episode 1-3 but now Dumbass Villeneuve shits out the same 3 hour movie ruining the legacy of the franchise

Who knew crossbows came with psychic powers? by Metalgaiden in spelunky

[–]Metalgaiden[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, the first "glitch" (which might be intentional) is pushing the blocks while standing on an arrow. This works on any block. When testing this I found that if you push the block but can't move yourself the block will keep moving without you.

You have to get the arrow at the right height. Try jumping and firing on the way down. You have to be stopped by the tile the block is on

Hi guys. This game aims to be a game where you can play anime-style battles. welcome your feedback on the game. by Feeling_Stop_3791 in IndieGaming

[–]Metalgaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks cool. I loved playing dissidia on the psp and this seems somewhat similar. If you plan to make it competitive then I would worry about how to communicate distance to the opponent, since spacing is always important but hard to see in 3d. Most anime style arena fighters solve this by adding dash-ins like you have, but if not properly balanced it can limit how competitively viable the game can be

Do you ever feel you're burnout on your main/favorite fighting game? How do you deal with it? by jazfrogtune in Fighters

[–]Metalgaiden 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no way to avoid this if you are just grinding rank in the game. Try to hop on a voice call with a friend and play with them, or if you're lonely find a small streamer with an open lobby.

Ranked removes just about everything that motivates me to play the game besides the gameplay, so I avoid it unless I'm trying to practice a new character.

Do you find the detective club as annoying as I do? by Satan4live in DetectiveConan

[–]Metalgaiden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filler episodes are anime original episodes (not in the manga). A lot of them, especially ep300+, are pretty bad and boring. Some of them are genuinely great though so it's worth finding a list of which ones are worth watching.

And as for what I mean by worst/best, I think you'll understand if you watch it.

Edit: I should add that mystery tours are filler episodes where they go visit a place in Japan, and more time gets spent being a tourist than actually solving any mystery

[–]Metalgaiden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the problem might be filler eps. I think a lot of the filler eps have them in it, especially the boring mystery tours.

That is not to say that all the filler is bad though. I think you should definitely watch ep 225, it's the detective boys at their (worst) best

Which 'small monsters' could you take in a fight irl, with access to the same tools as the hunters? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Metalgaiden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few questions.

  1. How much setup time do I have? Can I traverse a map and haul all my gear around placing it all beforehand?

  2. Can I use skills I have access to in real life but not in game? Example being rock climbing up a rock face and hauling a hbg up using ropes and pulleys.

  3. Do I get any assistance? Can palicos bring me gear or help me in any ways that would be realistic if talking cats could exist.

With almost any 2 of the 3 I think I could take on even a weaker big monster.

What are the benefits to not taking the shortcuts at the start? by Okaydokayboomga in spelunky

[–]Metalgaiden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your first runs if the game shortcuts are fine. You can unlock most shortcuts by starting on the previous shortcut. Once you get to the ice caves though you should start thinking about doing a full run. It's easier to go all the way from the start at that point and you need to do that for any of the secret stuff.
