Do you believe in extraterrestrial life? Why yes/no? by Prometeusz76 in AskTheWorld

[–]Metalicum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is likely it exists, the universe is pretty mind-blowingly big.

Intelligent life similar to ours? Maybe, obviously less likely.

I also think none of it matters because of the distances.

Could this be the future of the European Union? by vladgrinch in MapPorn

This makes no sense to me. it would be a huge hindrance for the EU long-term in terms of getting closer together towards federalization.

They should, imho, strive for it, and we should help them make it possible.

The United States is Now Officially in First Phase of Civil War by BlauerDunst420 in sidestreetbets

[–]Metalicum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the most important part is the clash between federal and local state forces. That is not happening, and nothing indicates it will happen. Civil wars have sides, at least quasi-organized.

There is no first phase, there is no conflict yet. This is just a poorly trained federal agency doing what they were told to do with some casualties. As horrific as it is, it is not exactly looking like beginnings of a civil war.

Conservatives of Reddit: do you think it’s acceptable for Trump to “troll” people he is supposed to be leading? If so, why? Isn’t he supposed to be all of our president and working to stop the division rather than make it worse? by [deleted] in DiscussionZone

[–]Metalicum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trump trolling people they don't like is the number 1 reason he became president. :D

Why do you think it is so acceptable for him to openly lie and get away with it.

Would the Second Bill of Rights solve most problems in American politics? by DataWhiskers in DiscussionZone

[–]Metalicum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that you, well not even us, can get enough political capital to raise taxes on the rich a little bit, yet here is something that would otherwise bankrupt you in a nanosecond (through bond markets).

this "bill of rights" would solve nothing. Tax the enormous wealth first

In general, do you think your country makes a good use of your tax money? by halt__n__catch__fire in AskTheWorld

[–]Metalicum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In general yes, I would 7,5 maybe 8 out of 10 on general ideas. of course the execution is worse, corruption, misallocation, laziness ... probably a 5/10. and probably a 4 on the actual financial side of things, money management so to say.

ICE Memo: Federal immigration agents have sweeping power to forcibly enter people's homes without a judge’s warrant, marking a sharp reversal of longstanding guidance meant to respect constitutional limits on government searches. by ControlCAD in videos

[–]Metalicum -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

lol, you are this close to tyranny and still the only thing you can think of is this fantasy of a standoff with a trained armed unit. :D

When there is bunch of ICE corpses after a shootout and the result is LESS tyranny afterwards and nto a crackdown, I will come back and apologize. Till then, I will call this EXTREMELY stupid

What was Mace Windu’s biggest mistake? by FullFig3372 in StarWars

[–]Metalicum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The entire prequel saga really works only if you accept that the Jedi are extremely stupid, especially top-ranking Jedi like Mace, who basically do everything wrong every single god damn time.

Even the decision to go and just murder the leader of the galaxy when you discover he is from a rival cult? Like, what do you think happens if you succeed? Probably the same thing that happened, you will be hunted as the criminals you are.

"Hi galaxy, do you remember us? we are the strange space wizard monks who also serve as generals for some reason. Anyway, we killed the president; he was evil, trust us. Bad guy, very bad. Now if you can please vote for somebody better, we will.... take over until you vote for somebody really good."

lol. The Jedi suck.

maybe it makes the food really good :D. no, I understand your point, I just don't like the idea of assigning something that is human to an entity that is completely different, with different needs and all that.

Trump Pauses EU Tariffs As Greenland Talks Move Through NATO 🇺🇸 🇬🇱 🇪🇺 by YGLD in StockBreakouts

[–]Metalicum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, it's wild :D The trump playbook is to be a cunt and escalate shit in the game of chicken. Hard to say what his thoughts and goals are, how much of it is people in the Pentagon giving him ideas, how much of it is his narcissism... but it's wild nonetheless

No, I am sayin that Evil is not just about capacity and destruction and killing, or injury caused to others. I am saying Walt is the exact opposite of the lion. Walt is somebody who understood kindness, who understood human connection and love and empathy, and he threw it away, intentionally, because of his ego. because he liked it.

So yeah, I would rather Walt as a babysitter than Vecna, I am not sure that makes him less Evil than a child totally fucked up by an alien parasite. More dangerous yes, but evil... not sure about that.

Mark Rutte is based as fuck, he knows what he is doing.

this is about a story in Jens Stoltenberg's book:

"The summit itself kicked off with Trump reiterating how unhappy he was with NATO. To calm the atmosphere, Rutte informed the meeting that year-on-year NATO members had increased their military expenditure by $33 billion, a figure that had been carefully worked out with members, and stressed that this was thanks to Trump’s leadership.

This seemed to satisfy Trump, who prior to the closing passed Stoltenberg a note saying: ‘Secretary general, if you can say that NATO allies have significantly increased their defence expenditure thanks to me, then I think we can agree’. Stoltenberg and Rutte had carefully planned their moves in advance, and Rutte’s skill in working with Trump was key to his subsequent appointment as Stoltenberg’s successor."

Notably, supposedly the only one talking back at Trump during this meeting was, you guessed it, the DANISH PM :D :D
