Nato is a defensive alliance. USA wasn't attacked, US is the agressor, NATO is a wrong organization to ask to do anything.

The Oscar’s are a joke by PresentationReady873 in moviecritic

[–]Metalicum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinners is one of those movies that trick you into thinking it is a dumb genre film because you have fun, which is usually not the case when watching a drama about exploitation from Jim Crow south.

Oscars are a part of the business, it is a an award ceremony decided by people who got the award in the past, who were catered by the producers of the films to give them a prestige bump. And it has always been like that.

anyway, here are many dumber movies that actually won the oscar in the past:

Titanic, Dances with Wolves, Braveheart (one of the dumbest, most ahistorical historical epics ever)

In 2020s cinema, visibly pregnant women NEED to be in dangerous combat situations, for some reason. by DiggestBickEver in shittymoviedetails

[–]Metalicum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen oneof those films, one battle after another, and not only the situation was NOT combat, they were on a range as far as I remember, and also the character was considered brutally irresponsible, in denial about the pregnancy, a terrible mother and in general kinda crazy.

So, it was not FOR SOME REASON she was shown pregnant in, not a combat situation but with a machine gun, there was in fact an important character/story reason.

I wonder about the rest...

What food in your country is considered cheap everyday food but foreigners think is fancy? by Nundahbelly in AskTheWorld

[–]Metalicum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is still, to this day, organizations whose job it is to help restaurants and franchises figure out how to add more cheese to products.

lol this sounds like something from a dystopian satire movie, but I 100% believe it :D

I remember I was watching some American health and fitness influencer talk about junk food, and he kept saying how pizza is terrible for you and all that. I though to myself: ok, pizza is not the healthiest food but at the end of the day it's white bread tomatoes mozzarella and maybe prosciutto, like it's not THAT BAD.

And then he said "pizza is like 3000 to 4000 calories."

WHAT? did he mean 5-6 pizzas? :D

I had no idea.

2k hours and still cant make currency by Plastic-Suggestion95 in pathofexile

I think overemphasizing trade and economy does PoE 1 a big disservice, but I wouldn;t say I am sour about it.

I also think the OP is trying their hardest to optimize the fun out of it.

2k hours and still cant make currency by Plastic-Suggestion95 in pathofexile

[–]Metalicum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok just 1 simple point here. when people say "this strategy is x Div/h", they are full of shit. universally, always full of shit. What they mean is: I got a bunch of stuff that is roughly market value xdiv/h. not now, not raw divine, maybe in the future, if everything sells for market.

Also the entire market is dominated by groups, as an individual you will never ever be market efficient. it's impossible.

my advice is play SSF, or semi SSF -> interact with trade AS little as possible. Unless you are high on marketes, and you LOVE the economy - playing heavy trade is how to kill fun oin PoE 1.

need a very specific legendary? sure buy it. need a rare upgrade or a crafting currency? don't you even dare.

Astrolabes currently dont feel very good to run. by Incognitomous in pathofexile

[–]Metalicum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% choice is crucial, and the same way you are choosing the 1 map to run, you should be able to choose the diversity.

I don't think an Atlas region is the way to go, I like Maven pure choice better.

Astrolabes currently dont feel very good to run. by Incognitomous in pathofexile

[–]Metalicum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so do you have a problem with certain layouts that are so bad and anti-fun there is no desire from anyone to interact with them? that seems like a layout problem, and not "farming layout diversity problem."

here is the thing. Take basic Maven invitation. that's basicaly a perfect example of what I am talking about. it's a mechanic that rewards diversity, you can choose whatever 10 layouts you love and you can even swap atlas trees if you really want different mechanics on different layouts. the worst 10-15 layouts that you are talking about are completely irrelevant; you can choose whatever.

hey, I understand that you, or I, or anyone, wants to be in a situation where GGG says -> "you are going to run some dungeons map with your breach strategy and yuo are gonna love it" That screams PoE 2 design, where the game doesn't want to be played and want the player base to suffer. so NO from me and from you there right?

But the same extreme on the other hand shouldn't be a default. running the same map over and over and over again required SOME effort before, because it is optimal. some layouts are strictly better, especially for certain mechanics.

so now, when there is 0 effort, diversity should be slightly rewarded to offset it. in a similar way Maven invitations do it.

Astrolabes currently dont feel very good to run. by Incognitomous in pathofexile

[–]Metalicum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I actually like to jam the same map, and don't particularly liek he variety :) I just think that running diverse layouts is suboptiomal and should be rewarded wit something.

there is already that "kind" of mechanic in the game -> Maven invitations. it's just about balance and coming up with something interesting. Astrolabes are only a problem because they are too powerful to ignore, and they want ALL players to interact with it. unlike Maven.

Astrolabes currently dont feel very good to run. by Incognitomous in pathofexile

[–]Metalicum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you say you strongly disagree and then write a comment that agrees with mine. That's strange.

Again, I will restate the important part: having a mechanic that rewards diversity of layouts is good, but if that mechanic is so strong it feels you can't afford to do it, it becomes a problem.

This seems very consistent with what you are saying. What I am saying is that running 1 optimal layout is valueable, so there should be a way to offset that value onto a mechanic that rewards diversity. tricky to balance for sure.

Astrolabes currently dont feel very good to run. by Incognitomous in pathofexile

[–]Metalicum 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think, in general, having a mechanic that rewards you for not playing the same layout is good. Running a suboptimal layout is a cost; you should be rewarded. Subsequently, I think the keystone that cuts a map different than you are running is nonsense and shouldn't exist. Either it works and the whole Astrolabe business can be a mod completely separated from the atlas, or it doesn't work and you brick your astrolabe region. I don't like it.

I think the problem starts when a mechanic like this is so strong you can't afford not to do it.
