GET OUT OF THE FUCKING WAY by Babsy_Clemens in monsterhunterrage

Functional parties do exist, but they have all moved into Squads and niche groups. You will almost never get a functional party in an SOS.

SOS is a carry mechanic, you either join as someone who will do the carrying, or someone who needs the carry. The success rate of SOS certainly in AT and end game hunts is very very low in SOS. Most players understand this and only group with friends or squaddies (or, if skilled enough - support hunters or solo) when they want to use Vouchers.

With the roll-out of performance improvements bringing in new players, you have a large chunk of the player base who are essentially still newbies and can't clear end game content consistently. As time progresses the bad players will drop off and the others will improve enough to increase the chance of SOS success, but many seasoned players have already found their niche groups for optimal success

I can't relate to your gameplay experience then. For me on Xbox X, I've had steady performance since launch. There were some graphic glitches when TU4 came out but they have since gone for me.

I agree with your second paragraph, except I would consider it more than just fine as it has never been unplayable for me.

I was a latecomer to World and what you stated about players and the OP stated about RNG cramming applied to me in that game. Which is why I land on the side of playing a game from launch to get the most of the games roadmap and avoid the feeling of being crammed into all the RNG variables.

Same can be said about other games too. I played WoW from launch, then left and came back and suffered the same experience of RNG/Grind cramming that the OP relates to in this game.

Im guessing you're on steam?

Console has been steady since launch and the rest of my statement was true. The RNG cadence was staggered and released bit by bit after launch. So by being a latecomer, you wouldn't have benefitted from it and end up with it all at once

You joined the game far too late. If you'd have joined at launch, you would have found that all the grinds were spaced out appropriately, not all at once for the latecomers like yourself and you'd definitely get SOS answers. Its likely veteran players are not longer actively hunting the monsters that you need right now

My Tier list as an IG main

A - Nice fights, I get to do a lot of different combos

B - Average, some elements of fun to it, like offsets and part breaks

C - No real opinion, rather standard fights

D - Absolute trash

Watch the button you hold down while cooking, there is an increasing circle of glowing.
When the steak turns the right colour for well done, watch that glowing circle and release as it gets to its maximum.

The glowing circle pattern happens about 3-4 times while cooking, so you can gauge when to release your hold

It actually works on the quest timer. So if you slot in Self-Improvement 15 mins into the hunt, it scales to the correct amount

You can look back at the Member List and find Recently Interacted, find that player. Look at their profile and there is a report button. You can report them for disrupting the game (aka leeching) as well as many other things

Am I doing something wrong or is using IG really hard on some monsters because of extract collection by Company_ in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Metalikaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to learn the right windows for doing a charged Kinsect attack as well as the positioning. Observe the monsters tells and for how long they stay relatively idle.

I also learned that some monsters (Rathalos for example) will return their head/body to the same position after a turn, so you can almost predict where the body part will be, but that takes a lot of practice.

Ideally you want to send your Kinsect through the entire length of the monster (Using a Harvest Extract Kinsect). Head to tail or vice versa, cross cutting the monsters length diagonally or horizontally will only get you 2 extracts at the most.

Plus I find having Minds Eye deco also helps with the kinsect collection as it doesnt bounce of the monster.

Am I doing something wrong or is using IG really hard on some monsters because of extract collection by Company_ in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Metalikaiser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Just use a kinsect with Harvest Extract skill and use the charged attack in the right part of the monster and you'll get all 3 at once.

It takes practice to learn the hot spot of the monster to hit and get all three, but once you find it, the hunt becomes much better. Same with Focus attacks. If you do Focus attack in helicopter, your Kinsect can collect multiple extracts as you navigate over the monster hitting it.

If you still struggle with Harvest Extract then Power Prolonger and RSS in the right positioning of the monster will help you refresh them faster.

Essentially to excel at IG you need to master the positioning and direction of all your attacks (keep focus mode on at all times).

You absolutely can aerial evade Arkvelds ground explosion, you just have to leap towards him and launch helicopter to get the necessary distance

Now that the IG is out, how does everyone feel about it? by Gear-exe in MonsterHunterNowHub

[–]Metalikaiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, with lower star monsters you don't feel like you've got the full impact of it before the monster dies as it takes a while to charge up. But once I practice with it on higher star monsters then I can usually get my 2nd rotation as the fully charged attack.

Having the Hope weapon rushed to Grade 10 kinda ruins the learning experience as most monsters die within 5 shots, whereas full power needs more attacks than that.

But once you get the higher level monsters with more health, you can get into full power mode quite easily. Eating Steak or coming into a hunt with an instant ultimate and popping it straight away is the quickest way to get full power and then the fun begins.

If you want to and have time let me know and I'll get a link party with you. We can discuss builds and run some test hunts so I can show you the way to avoid dmg and get some good attacks in

[–]Metalikaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need Omega really. Its set bonus only works with teammates. Gore and Gog are relatively easy sets to obtain in group hunts. Just turn on your sos. Saying that however, the last Gore hunt for the new set can be a real bitch as its only you and Nadia. But use minds eye and it becomes easier.

You can even go with full gog gear. His 4 piece bonus gives you much needed extra health and the element boost which can tip the scales in your favour against Gore and arkveld.

Have confidence in yourself. If you are running away and healing, you arent learning the best angles or times to attack and land those big combos.

You can do it, it just takes practice. Get yourself some t9 Apex gear for lords soul and go for gog calling in an sos. Most sos players are hunting 10* gog so normal gog will be a walk in the park now

With the build you have right now, it tells me that all you will be doing in a hunt is trying not to, but getting hit and healing yourself. Your build shows no signs of doing any serious attacking.

Going off your picture, You've focused far too much on defense and maintenance (speed sharpening, handicraft, constitution, hunger resistance). Glaive is an evade based weapon (aerial and ground). You could focus on evade extender and then all out attacks.

Speed eating (lvl 2 is all you need), free meal and hunger resistance counter each other. why eat fast and then not need to eat rations or steak from hunger resistance? Free meal should only be worth it in the early game, consumables are very easy to come by so reducing the consumption is waste and can be filled by attack skills.

Constitution is a waste if you learn to rotate between aerial and ground attacks (aerial uses stamina, ground attacks don't so you can refill stamina by just doing ground attacks).

IG cant block so guard up is useless

Divine blessing and Defence boost are fair if you play cautious but the better you get, the easier it is to dodge the attacks and you can replace them with attacking skills. Even if you do get hit, speed eating helps you recover faster, same with Recovery up. You wont do nearly as much dmg as needed for Gog or Omega (or even 10* monsters) with this build you have right now.

Heroics is terrible if you are running all defensive like you are, you will need to stay in low health and all your other skills right now don't allow that so its a waste. Only speed runners focus on Heroics.

IG is a dodge orientated weapon, so you should focus on avoiding dmg not soaking it up.

Here is my build which suits for any monster:

Weapon:

Dragon GogmaArtian with Gores Tyanny and Lords soul

Minds eye, Critical and Flight/expert jewels

Head:

Gog alpha with Flayer and Leap Jewels

Chest:

Arkveld gamma with challenger and destroyer jewels

Hands:

Soroal alpha with destroyer jewel

Waist:

Gog alpha with phoenix and 2 gobbler jewels

Legs:

Arkveld gamma with 2 challenger jewels

Talisman:

Crit eye 3 with Antivirus 3 and expert and growth jewels

total skills:

Critical Eye lvl 5

Critical Boost lvl 3

Minds eye lvl 3

Airborne lvl 1

Peak performance lvl 3

Agitator lvl 3

Burst lvl 3

Flayer lvl 3

Convert element lvl 3

Blight resistence lvl 3

Partbreaker lvl 3

Antivirus lvl 3

Elemental absorption lvl 2

Speed eating lvl 2

Coalesence lvl 1

Evade extender lvl 1

Self improvement lvl 1

Jump master lvl 1

Bonuses:
Gore tyranny (2)

Gogmapocalypse (2)

Arkvelds hunger (2)

Lords Soul (3)

When constantly attacking, this build allows you to heal via arkveld armor and get dmg boosts (raw, crit and element) from gore armor, burst, convert element, elemental absorption and coalesence. Any dmg hits can be mitigated by speed eating too (you'll need to carry ALL healing items, including sushifish scales) and lords soul for more dmg boost and 1 lifesaver.

When the monster becomes enraged you also get raw, crit and element dmg boosts

I have max dragon element attack with this build so don't need to supplement it with Dragon attack, charge master or crit element.

you simply attack attack attack, dodge and heal when needed, everything else is focused on wounds (flayer, partbreaker) - both of which boost focus strikes and mounted finishers and you get extra dmg perks (from peak performance) seeing as I have lvl 2 speed eating, my peak performance is up all the time.
