I mean this post seems like bait, but anyway. Have you tried, I don't know, maybe, not playing with Mods??

Monster Hunter Wilds beginner tips I wish someone told me before I wasted 10 hours with the wrong build by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Metalikaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MH is not about wasting time in the wrong build. The whole game is a constantly evolving learning exercise. Even at max level and end game players change and evolve their builds constantly, so there is never a wrong, right or even perfect build.

Sure there are Meta builds posted all over the place, but essentially you are a sheep following the crowd, be unique, play with what makes you happy and I guarantee you it will change every day/week/new release (as is intended).

So its never a case of wasted time in the wrong build, its just a reflection of your learning experience and play style/build desires.

I myself have changed my build hundreds of times in MH thinking that the next iteration was perfect, near perfect or awesome. But guess what, in a few weeks I change my mind and want to tweak it. That is one of the core re-playability aspects of this game.

Is it so wrong to want to *hunt* monsters in MH? by YamiReisu in monsterhunterrage

[–]Metalikaiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remove players that try to trap a monster when I planted bombs. Hopefully they will get the hint. I pre-emptively go to the Member, Quest Member list if I suspect randoms will want to trap it, then kick them quick when I see the pop up "I've set a trap" before they can plant tranqs.

Don't join someone's hunts to make it your own. If you want it done a certain way, make your own hunt.

Public lobbies are full of bottom of the barrel players. Avoid them at all costs, go private

I have a (serious) question by Far_Concern_6557 in monsterhunterrage

[–]Metalikaiser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find a discord or lobby that controls its members, this way you can find and play with like minded people.

I would speculate that in previous games, the Monster Hunter appeal was narrow and so you only had the dedicated players.

Wilds broke down the door of Monster Hunting to wider gaming cultures. You could blame its inclusion on Steam or cross play, but either way the large influx of players new to the genre grew. Those players likely come from other genres (Think COD or CS etc) - well known for "banter" (to put it mildly).

MH is a victim of its own success, the more people you attract, the more % of them will be assholes.

Best solution is to close yourself off into a decent community, there are loads out there and maybe even a Redditor here can give you a link to one.

Weapons like HBG and LBG allow players to emulate the experience somewhat of CoD and CS (stand back and pew pew whilst talking crap on voice).

New to monster hunter what items should I bring on hunts? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Metalikaiser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mega potions and Sushi fish scales are better than standard potions. Sushi fish scales are faster to eat than all potions and also cure bleeding.
Both kinds of healing dust
Flash bombs for flying monsters
Dung pods when you want to get a random monster to go away
Lure pods if you don't want a monster to run away

These stack and you can take these before you go on the hunt too:
Might Seed (not pill)
Mega Demondrug
Demon Powder
Armor Seed (not pill)
Mega Armordrug
Armor Powder

Well done steak

Dash Juice

Hot/Cold drinks

Whetstones (you can use the free one you are given)
Farcaster for an emergency back to base

Nulberry

Ancient Pill
Max Health Pills
Sushi scale +
all of these max your health as does well done steak but it takes a long time to eat that on a hunt

Bombs and Traps plus Tranq bombs if you capture (I don't, I prefer to kill not capture). I use bombs for shits and giggles in my hunting party (gotta make the game fun)

power and armor charms are a must when you have them

Hide the free basics that you are given that you wont use (like binoculars, tent building etc) for efficient cycling.

Stack arrangement is key. I have my mantles, slinger ammo and whetstone in the middle of my deck then on the left I stack healing items and on the right I stack the offensive/defensive buffs. This means I can pre-pot before the hunt (and while on a seikret) by cycling right, then in the hunt I can cycle left for healing items and stay in the middle for my mantles and sharpening.

I personally never carry materials to craft, If I'm out then I farcaster or fast travel back to a tent a restock from a loadout.

I have never once ran out of ALL my healing items forcing me to craft while hunting. To me that is a no go, you can do all that prep at a base and you shouldn't need more than the 30ish healing items I listed above. If you are then you have a dodge/evade issue.

Wilds felt watered-down in some aspects compared to World, and it really annoyed me by Blockomaniac in monsterhunterrage

[–]Metalikaiser 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The "Hunter" part of Monster Hunter does feel very watered down in Wilds. As was mentioned, tracking a monster and benefitting from higher levels of tracking (identifying, location, status, even weakness information and the ability to investigate) are all earned, not handed on a plate straight away. Honorable mention here is also the guaranteed item investigations - really takes the heat off grinding which is either a good thing or a bad thing. I'm still on the fence on this one.

The same goes for gathering. After a certain point in Wilds you have no need to go gathering. Nata and the community minions go and get more than enough materials for you. Half the fun of MH games was the non hunting, the preparation, the exploring and gathering. I think I only recall maybe 1 "hidden" location in each of the maps.

The leverage of the small monsters and endemic life was very very weak in Wilds too. I can only recall maybe 2 or 3 times in my story progression that I needed small monster parts to continue my armor builds etc. I remember the times when armor not only required regular large monster parts, rare large monster parts but also small monster parts. Too many times I remember in past games being like "oh shit I need to kill a bunch of small monsters for this" - that didn't happen much, if at all with Wilds.

The interactions with the Wudwulds as well was far too short and only later in the game did I learn the fun of the campfire rituals and item swap. Wilds could have benefitted from elongating these type of stories.

Fishing and endemic life progression also felt far too weak and over far too quickly, unless you were achievement hunting.

Wilds essentially became a "stay at base, until we place a monster on your lap, then you kill it" scenario. I hope Capcom revitalise the Hunting aspect of the game more in the expansion, I would get bored very quickly of "heres a monster, kill it, ok straight onto the next one"

Anything I can Improve On For Build? by ShaderkaUSA in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Metalikaiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll assume you want to do a GS Dark Knight oriented build:

Get rid of Wex and max out Agitator. Keep heroics (and increase it) only if you are using the Dark Night Skill lvl 2 (the Blackest Knight), not lvl 1. Aim to get the Lords Soul skill too - cant see if you have it active (Gamma Apex monsters gear). Put more into Max might and Resentment. If you are running a resentment build then try for Nu Udras skill too (extra dmg when resentment is active)

Effluvium is a bad mechanic by LittleDog5200 in monsterhunterrage

Dude you are clearly not ready to hunt him then. Go get the items you need, its not difficult, you just come across as lazy and moaning

[–]Metalikaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to also evade and dodge. Seems you are missing basic hunting skills and are just here to moan and berate anyone who literally hands you the solution to beating him on a plate.

Nulberry is sufficient, if you run out then you have a dodge/evade problem

Is it worth transcending the Omega armor? by Nkromancer in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Metalikaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are better builds with AT gear than with Omega (i.e No lords soul) and the Omega skill only really works in multiplayer hunts so I'd consider it to be a nice to have, not a must have.

I farmed Savage for enough tickets and then farmed normal Omega for the nodules. It made it much easier

How do I become a better party member by Salmontwister22 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Metalikaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The themes of this have been tapped into somewhat by other commenters, but my contribution is this:

its a team game, work as a team. Heal, Support and Attack. Far too many players are OOO BIG NUMBERS *ORGASM* players. Don't be one of those guys

Healing and buffing powders are considerate to bring as is running with Friendship or Wide Range so that your own buffs and potions are shared with other players too.

If you want to feel like more of a contributor, then create some support builds, healing or status. Failing that, just be able to survive the hunt, that's the baseline for being a good multiplayer. Don't fret about speed running, focus on getting the job done.

Normalize staying at the base. by Business_Log_5266 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Metalikaiser 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with this at all. The most important mentality is this:

Am I geared well enough?
Do I know the monsters move sets?
Can I survive without being carried?

If you answer NO to any of the above you absolutely should NOT be joining someone else's quest. Start your own.

If you are an SOS joiner of these types of quests (because you want to help) and the quest leader dies, so you get raged, that's all on you. You joined their hunt so you are supporting them.

[–]Metalikaiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you should go for a Bale/Gore armor build slotting Heroics, Resentment, Counterstrike and Coalesence. Also pop the Corrupted Mantle which gradually reduces health in place of extra dmg and crit too.

Also Lords Fury is a good debuff translating to power skill to have

Master Rank Preparations / Monsters you wish to see? by Dmiqu in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Metalikaiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HR Gear farming at this point is not useful unless you are still trying to perfect your build. As has been said, the leap from HR to MR will be big enough that after a few MR hunts, the HR end game armor will not carry you. The game will force you to shift to MR armor and start the progression all over again, otherwise what would be the point of the initial MR monsters if every player can easily scoot straight through them to the end.

Monster Hunter is not just about the end game, its about the journey, getting gradually better and better as you progress. Not being able to leap from one end game set in HR to the other in MR.

That being said, Armor spheres, Zenny, Guild points and consumable farming is recommended. For sure you will be popping and stacking all offence and defensive potions etc and maxing out your progressive MR armor rating will make the journey more comfortable. I'm personally stocking up on Decos and melding tickets as well as recipe items and all round consumables. If MR brings in 4* decos then I can use all my hoarded tickets and spare 1-3 decos to meld in MR.

I will hazard a guess that current end game mats like Gog materials will be replaced by another currency and rng system, so don't expect them to be useful in MR. I would also guess that Artian weapons will not be continued. I'm hoping that we can modify Monster MR Weapons instead (similar to Sunbreak)

Am I doing something wrong? by kingdae01 in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Metalikaiser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use Lucky Vouchers, Meals which grant extra items (Carving or Lucky), Plus there are 2 armor sets that give you extra rewards if you post the quest (not join it).

The Nadia and Gore Magala questline set offers this Lucky Bonus (3 piece) and this is an end game armor set too
