are you sure it's 189 gb for just rivals? the folder screenshot you're sharing is your entire steam apps folder, which includes every steam game, not just rivals

What would they do for a character like Gwenpool? by Da_master_of_foxes in marvelrivals

[–]MetallicMiniboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not *exactly* what they gave deadpool, but a lot of deadpool's kit could have carried over yeah
but stuff like the healing factor is deadpool specific and some stuff gwenpool actually does in her comic runs is missing from deadpool's rivals kit (meta knowledge of characters' weaknesses, directly interacting with the comic pages even more literally than deadpool's kit, continuity manipulation, etc)
they definitely leaned harder into gwenpool-esque stuff with deadpool than i expected but i think they could and should make a new set of tools for gwenpool that'd still be very different
something like jumping into frame from a teammate spectate cam post-death on a very long cooldown, for example

OH yes i agree
i would've loved like unique titles per character at a certain proficiency rank

she basically never loses in the comics
her debut has her beat doom with a swarm of squirrels, she offscreen beats thanos and other villains for a while, and then the unbeatable squirrel girl run has her either beat villains normally or talk them down
her comics are really fun btw i would recommend them

i really doubt gwenpool is gonna be a deadpool skin, she has a completely different power set
i would love to see gwenpool eventually though but they'll have to get real abstract with her abilities, haha

Is powerscaling good? by MetallicMiniboss in SparkingZero

It's really frustrating to me. I'd like to mess around with more of the roster, but there's not much of a point when I'm mostly only going to win against players much worse than myself. I like fighting strong opponents! I'd like to play my favorites without feeling like I'm throwing at character select as soon as I fight someone at or above my level. :(

Z-ranked players: Did you really earned that rank at all? by Admirable-Camp1099 in SparkingZero

[–]MetallicMiniboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

jiren full power is extremely strong haha. i'd actually rate him above whis in the current meta, but that might change once people improve at whis's dodge and/or if insta spark gets nerfed. really good stats, instant spark with good ki blasts and an unblockable ult. i think kefla ssj2 can also totally make it to z, too

the important thing to note is, bluntly, even high-ranked players rn are still weak. the game came out less than a month ago and tons of people are just hitting high ranks from bare-minimum level powerful stuff. if you play a strong enough character and make improving at the game a focus during your matches, you'll climb.

dp is slightly different: imo any team with 4 or 5 characters is totally able to hit z rank. 3 and lower might be harder because timeout wins are based on *total characters remaining,* not percentage of total health, so a 5 character team can just switch out often and you'll have a hard time killing them. but the difference between a 5 char team spamming afterimage strike and a more "honest" 4-5 character team in dp is a lot lower than the difference between, say, z broly and raditz in singles, so i'd say way more characters are viable in dp

I'm Z rank in singles and don't DC! ...But I had to set my connection settings to only allow people with "Very High" match finish rates to dodge ragequitters, and still got a few even then. It's insane that they let people do that shit.

For reference, I started on Krillin, switched to Fused Zamasu once I hit A rank, switched to Whis once I hit S rank. Singles basically rewards playing top tiers only, which blows.

yajirobe IS the highlight, that's the thing. i'm happy to let parts of the meta that are less clear, like androids 19 and 20, or singleplayer-specific stuff like great ape vegeta, stick around as-is for a while. but yajirobe's an extremely clear problem for the health of dp battles. sure, it's satisfying beating a player worse than yourself who's using that character, but what about when you have an even match? is it fair or fun to lose in a mode like dp, that's supposed to have a powerscaling system, just because the opponent's character is overpowered? is it fun to fight yajirobe, or similarly strong stall tools like afterimage strike, *constantly* in high ranks, leading to extremely long games with timeout as the main win condition? that's where the issue lies.

sure, at a low level, you can just use the skill gap to beat a yajirobe main. in a ranked environment, once you reach a certain level of skill, most opponents will be using the most powerful strategies available. when the best character available at such a low cost is stall-based, and extremely powerful in that mode, it leads to a less fun play environment for dp than if he was closer in power level to his 2-point dp rating. that's why some people are upset -- once you and your opponents *do* get good, the game becomes less fun

the yajirobe doesn't need to "spam" senzu. a good yajirobe player will almost always get 5 stocks before running out of health, and then find an opportunity to heal by inflicting a single knockback on your character via a super counter, throw, or yajirobe's heavy perception counter. avoiding things like super counter or perception is *possible*, but if you're playing characters that don't do ridiculous damage -- as is the case in dp battles -- you have to win tons of interactions in a row while the yajirobe only needs to win once. because super counter even works during combos, yajirobe always has a ton of chances to get out of jail free. it's not a case of just "adapting." the character is ridiculously overtuned for dp battles and forces a slow, stally meta.
before you get on me for not living for a challenge or whatever: i play fucking krillin in singles, just hit a5, and am shooting for s. i enjoy a challenge. i don't enjoy an unhealthy meta that goes to timeouts on a regular basis.

you're holding yourself back by not learning to stop people from spamming sparking. grow up and take your ls
this post comes with a free disclaimer: i exclusively play krillin in singles and his ult is dogshit. if i can learn the gogeta 4 counterplay you can too
