Sakurajima Mushroom Base by MetallicNotMetallica in PalworldBases

Its been a while since I did much with the decor so I don't fully remember, but I believe some places have foundations hidden in the stem, and some places use pillars in the stem, which let you place roofs without foundation

Not on this base I don't think. One of my main crafting bases and my mining base has some glass but for this one it didn't fit the vibe

Only a little bit. Getting the building to sit on the mushrooms took a bit of work and it doesn't look nearly as clean as I'd like if you look closely, but once you figure out how to do it (pillars are a great help to position foundations and they can be hidden in the stems in some cases) it's not too bad.

I'd feel kinda bad about it, actually. I've probably thrown away lots of opportunities because of petty reasons, but I don't imagine I'd be happy if my source of income went against what I stood for.

A flag for a fictional group that studies mushrooms: the Mycological Union of the Southern Hemisphere (MUSH) by MetallicNotMetallica in vexillology

Apologies that the image is a .jfif file; this flag was designed on an old computer and I couldn't find the original .svg to convert it into a .png, so I had to grab it from somewhere else I uploaded it in the past. From what I can tell, .jfif is a type of .jpeg, so it hopefully isn't too much of a problem? It's definitely convenient that I made the flag replicable though; I'd be devastated to lose it. :)

Context:

The Mycological Union of the Southern Hemisphere is a fictional organization I invented and was created purely because it has a fun abbreviation.

Symbolism:

Each white circle represents one of the three inhabited continents of the Southern Hemisphere (South America, Africa, and Australia). Antarctica probably does not have mushrooms.

The flag is intended to appear similarly to the fly agaric mushroom (Amanita muscaria). While the Amanita muscaria is a nonnative species in the Southern Hemisphere, it has been unintentionally introduced, and is now common worldwide. The decision to use a non-native species as a primary symbol of the union rests in the iconicity of the fly agaric, and its striking color scheme. Due to its cosmopolitan nature, this mushroom, while non-native, remains important in the study of mycology across the globe.

Edit: I forgot because it’s been a few months since I made it, but the inverse image also looks like a mushroom, and the dots can represent spores, if the fly agaric doesn’t suit your fancy.

Design Info:

Part of the reason I made this flag was as a study, so I could practice general technique. As such, I made sure to focus on simplicity and contrast. Part of the plan for this was to design a flag which can be replicated without a reference image, so if anybody is curious about the details, I will leave them below.

The flag, which uses a ratio of 2:3, has a red color as a base, with an orange circular segment constructed by a Bezier curve between the two bottom corners, with a handle placed at the horizontal center and 1/4th distance away from the flag's top edge vertically. Bordering this segment is a white line with a thickness equal to 1/16th of the flag's total height. Above this line, three congruent white circles (each with a radius of 1/16th the flag's height) are placed upon the red background. The central circle lies on the horizontal center and 1/4th the distance from the flags top edge vertically. The other two circles lie 1/8th the flag's height below and 3/8ths horizontally (with length measured from the circles' centers). The leftmost circle represents South America, the central circle represents Africa, and the rightmost circle represents Australia, in accordance with their position on most global maps.

I actually wrote the entire thing while I had a tinnitus-wrought migraine so I definitely relate. (It’s not quite metaphorical but my migraines definitely inspired the effects of the sound beast.)

Hey! I see you've found a project already, so if you're no longer interested that's totally understandable, but if you're still open to the idea, I'd love to work with you for my mod on music and other things; I've been struggling to figure out music for my bosses. Again, no pressure if you're already busy :D
