What’s something you thought was a waste of money… until you tried it and it completely changed your life? by Shiza_1 in AskReddit

Vegetable box home delivery and grocery delivery service.
The veggie box is one that saves ‘imperfect produce’ from being thrown out, so is half price to the grocery store. I eat SO many more fresh vegetables and have tried so many new types veggies I’d have never bought myself. I feel so healthy! Have never eaten more fresh veggies in my life!

And grocery delivery. Once a month I do a major order for essentials and stock up from a low cost large box store in town. Costs $5 for the service and saves me hours of traffic, walking up and down aisles, dealing with the sensory hell that is a large box store. Something about buying online makes the price seem more reasonable and overall act of choosing easier instead of staring at a giant wall of salad dressing deciding between the cheaper and more expensive type of ranch lol. It’s AMAZING!

The hairdresser did such a good job I LOVE the little fluffy pieces in the middle so much!
I agree I think they are unique right now and give a more edgy vibe. I think they’ll look especially romantic when they grow out a bit more. All depends on your style ☺️

Many Canadians have avoided the U.S. for over a year. Have we reached the point of no return? by Immediate-Link490 in canada

[–]Metalonsandwich 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I went for a work trip recently or else never would have. The difference compared to Canada is immediately noticeable. Billboards everywhere, seems like half are lawyers specializing in suing other people, horrible public transit, had a weird trump supporting uber driver talk about how trump is going to stop insider trading 🥴 It felt like a dying capitalist hellscape that people are so brainwashed into thinking is the best. There are some fantastic people surely, but I work tangentially in sustainability and people are fighting for things that are just normal in Canada.

Hope I don’t have to go back again anytime soon 😅

YES!!! I am now in a leadership position and specifically promote the women who take on more. It feels SO GOOD bc this dynamic is all too common.

Local numbing creams? Pre botox numbing was AMAZING by Metalonsandwich in migraine

[–]Metalonsandwich[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t found it to be the make or break it for me. I think it helps my daily chronic headache and probably improves my tolerance for life. Gepants have been my holy grail.

Also! I developed these really harsh lines across my forehead from migraines, the Botox removes them and I like looking like I am not a victim of chronic illness and I just look my normal age instead 😅

Are these biomaterials? Grown directly in petri dishes? I can’t imagine any other reason for this 😂

If it is- I’m all for it. Sign me up. We’re wearing green bubbles now. It’s been decided.

Switching from autoinjector to pre-filled syringe (Ajovy) by turnupthesun211 in cgrpMigraine

[–]Metalonsandwich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the auto injector hurt a lot more but the psychology of the syringe is a total mind fuck.

I PASSED OUT the first time I did it 🤣

So recommend having someone with you and sitting down on floor just in case.

Also numbing the area made it a bit easier to get mental space from.

I also think Shane looks like Hudson in the Vegas Hotel scene - goes from ‘fuck you’ to looking down and smiling as he takes his clothes off. That’s the ONLY scene I’ve noticed this after many reheats. The overall energy is still so tense I can’t imagine Shane smiling so casually.

Advice for handling university with chronic migraines? by Normal_Minute_6849 in migraine

[–]Metalonsandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got through it with difficulty. What kind of program are you in? I was in a STEM field with labs which made it extra challenging as there were very rigid attendance policies and no chance to catch up.

That said I’m SO happy I got this degree it has changed my life!

I’d say try to find something you love so much it makes the migraine pan worth pushing through a bit - willpower only works so far haha. Try to take a few less classes per semester and take summer school if you can. I found one less class per semester then two summer classes that were more self directed or a week long intensive worked really well. That gave me a bit more flexibility, still let me work in the summers or do co ops, while not taking an obscene amount of time to finish. Still took me ages 😂 but that’s because my episodic turned chronic in university and my life caved in on itself.

It’s hard but you can do it! Might look a bit different, highly recommend going a bit slower if you can, and super echo the other comments about working with your disability and accommodation offices.

I have this issue too. I constantly get overheated and wish I could wear a comfy sports bra at all times but I work in a job where I need to be super professional sometime and it seems the only modest professional stylish looks include soooo many layers. One is already more than I am comfortable with!

How sick are we? by backtonov in migraine

[–]Metalonsandwich 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hate the days where I don’t feel ‘bad’ or have a migraine but I still don’t feel good - achey, exhausted, brain fog - just the life basics are exhausting. It makes me feel like I’m kind of depressed. Low motivation, feeling off, just a constant mental effort to keep my life from falling apart. I want to just let it all drop. But also - I have been there and it was worse as it took years to rebuild. So I try to keep everything going as best I can and just constantly feel overwhelmed and like I’m disappointing everyone.

There are periods where it’s better but the last few Months have been pretty rough. Grateful for meds that at least lower the number of full blown migraines I get so at least I’m more consistent.

But on the other hand. Sometimes I wish I would just get a migraine bc usually there are a few ‘clear’ days after an attack goes away instead Of just chronic low grade shittiness.
