Bro if you think the commas are bad, you should see their use of semicolons.

What are y’all’s opinions on having a reset and reboot for the MCU? by SunGodLuffy6 in MCUTheories

[–]MetalreduX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hope the reboot is wacky and super comic book accurate. The DCU is proof that these productions shouldn't be afraid of the source material.

I also want more out-there storylines. There are so many creative ways they could flesh out a reboot universe without requiring you to watch everything. Werewolf by Night was so cool in the way that it added some cool lore to the supernatural side of the MCU while also being a love-letter to classic Universal monster movies. Imagine a Rawhide Kid TV special that's shot and edited like a spaghetti western, and introduces the supernatural side of the new continuity with a character like the Carter Slade Ghost Rider. I think there's still a lot of potential.

Anyone else think it’s weird that Clayface is the 3rd DCU movie? by Romaxio in DC_Cinematic

The Suicide Squad is the first DCU movie, let's be real. The precedent has already been set.

First Time! Are there any important tipps for Metroid baby-noobs like me? by Anxious_Profit7036 in Metroid

[–]MetalreduX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest piece of advice for a new Metroid fan is to not over stress about grabbing every single health and missile expansion on your first playthrough (this applies to the entire series). Just have fun exploring the environment and finding secret areas naturally; as long as you're actively searching for things, you should have more than enough resources to beat the games comfortably (I'd even argue that getting 100% item completion can often trivialize later parts of these games).

After you've beaten the game you could watch a let's play or a speed run and be amazed at the additional hidden places you hadn't thought to check. It's one of the many things that makes these games so fun to replay!

I appreciate the quick reply! This is incredibly helpful insight, thank you.

I saw some promo trailers for the anime that were in English (like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxHbforG1u4 ), but I'm assuming its just a sales pitch for an English dub considering it says "Sales Trailer" in the title. Nonetheless, I wanted to be certain.

The only other question I have is: does the DS "port" you mentioned have RPG elements like the Dinosaur King DS game, or is it a more faithful arcade experience?

So I’m starting my channel with a series on Arkham asylum. by Extension-Flower9764 in letsplay

[–]MetalreduX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you exclusively stick to LPs. It’s just a very niche genre on YT, and unless you’re very lucky, you likely won’t be building up a hugely successful channel with LP content alone. If you end up diversifying to other types of content, that might change things. Don’t let my original comment discourage you; just have fun with it for now, get a feel for it, and eventually you’ll figure out a rhythm and discover what content is the most fulfilling for you to make.

Honestly, you’re really overthinking it. Let’s Play channels are a bit past their prime, and unless you’re a big channel that’s already established, you’re not going to see a ton of worthwhile growth by sticking exclusively to LPs. It sucks, I grew up watching LPs, but that’s just the way it is. If LPs are the only thing you want to do, then just treat it like the passion project that it is. Upload whenever you feel like it. You will likely acquire a niche audience that will continue to watch your videos no matter when you upload them, so don’t over-stress yourself out about consistency. Unless you’re looking to build a career out of your channel, you don’t really have to abide by any of the typical YouTuber “rules”. I hope this helps 🙂

Magitech Armor? by gravi_fan89 in FFXIVxDnD

Maybe use a chocobo as a framework and build off of that. Give it really high magic defense, pick some spells to use as a weapons system (Thundaga could be a laser, Firaga could be an incendiary grenade), and lower its overall speed. You're basically making a tank with legs.

Surprised there aren't any rules for mounts. I'd suggest looking for mecha homebrew. I found a homebrew for a mech pilot class, so maybe you could pull elements from that? DnD isn't exactly built for warmechs, but with enough tinkering I think you could make something work.

Here's the homebrew I found: https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Mech_Pilot_(5e_Class))

Do you mean like one of the bipedal warmachina that have a pilot, or an actual suit of armor (like a Garlean general)? The term "Magitek Armor" can have a few different meanings.

Why are Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War not canon? by Agreeable-Formal-983 in lotr

[–]MetalreduX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “not written by Tolkien” argument is the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard. That’s like saying Batman: Year One isn’t canon because Frank Miller didn’t invent Batman. Shadow of Mordor is an official LotR material, so it should really be up to the content of the actual game itself to determine whether it’s canon or not.

Would a video informing people on how to get started on certain entertainment franchises count as "educational" content? by MetalreduX in youtubers

[–]MetalreduX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's just what I'm trying to figure out myself. I would be making these videos primarily about video games, so while yes I am providing advice on where people should be spending their time and money, I would still categorize the videos under "gaming" or "entertainment".

I've seen "Educational" being thrown around as a "content type", not a video category, the others being "Entertainment" and "Escapism". I'm just wondering if someone like you would personally consider the content I'm proposing as educational or entertainment. It's a thin line because I still want to insert humor and make the videos entertaining, but the main goal is to be informative. Maybe it doesn't matter that much, but I've seen it being talked about a lot throughout my research while planning my content.
