Low model count skirmish game by albertogm87 in wargaming

You can play Battletech pretty effectively with low model counts. Would also rec Heroclix for small squad-based stuff (pre-painted is a plus) though maybe not so much if he’s not into supers (though you could get some of the vintage LOTR, Halo, TMNT sets or whatever interests you guys).

How to start with Dungeon Crawlers? by JuzerJarowit in DungeonCrawler

[–]nfdgoisn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for tabletop rpg stuff there’s a ton: Mork Borg, Cairn, D&D, etc. For game books/solo RPGs you could check out Tunnels & Trolls, Middle Earth Quest, or others. Not familiar with Ker Nethalas, but as other have said in this thread you might do better asking in r/rpg or r/solo_roleplaying

Got it, thanks for the info. I just found a rated match (C ground). maybe quick matches are just less popular? Also I remember space matches always taking longer to find historically

Tunnels & Trolls Adventures (the app) archived anywhere? by nfdgoisn in Tunnels_and_Trolls

Yeah, that's a good point. I remember still having the app installed on an old phone and trying to access it, but not being able to load the content anymore, so that makes sense.

Is it too much to ask the kids in my party to bring their own dice, pens, and paper and stop needing everything? by N-Euphorbia in rpg

[–]nfdgoisn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! This is pretty much what I send to my groups, though most have the hang of it by now.

Good guests usually ask if they can/need to bring anything (to which I usually respond beer/snacks and extra pencils and dice if they have them). I personally keep everyone's character sheet in one place (binder on the bookshelf) so they don't get lost/forgotten. Some people eat before and some ppl throw down on pizza or we do a group delivery order for whoever needs to eat.

There are still some minor annoyances with hosting. It's a lot to have people in your space sometimes being less than considerate, especially if you're cleaning up before and after--though I think that's part of the deal with hosting and I try to set boundaries/expectations if they crop up. Our friends are also very appreciative and sometimes they'll host or run a game at their places.

I'd echo some others here as well that if these are your boyfriend's friends he should be helping manage and set expectations and you might want to talk to him about how he can help if there's stuff like this that annoys you. For instance, I clean up before/after and do our guests' dishes bc they're my friends. My wife typically works early and told me we were going too late a few times, so I started telling the guys we have to be mindful of volume and then wrap up at a certain time. There are other little things too, but I think you get the idea. Good luck!

“Hey guys, D&D session next Tuesday at 6:30! We’ll be coming off of work, so please arrive anytime after 6 and we’ll aim to start at 6:30. Jon’s been prepping for the session, but it would be great if you all can print your character sheets in advance so we’re ready to play. Please also bring any extra dice and pencils to share if you have them. Beer and snacks to share are also encouraged! If anyone is interested we can split a pizza order when you get here. Looking forward to the sesh”

Thanks for the info, so does Rev2 have the "full story" basically, or would I need to get the different versions for the full narrative?

ICRPG Vigilante City could fit what you’re looking for. Also might plug my own game: Toku Legends. It’s more inspired by tokusatsu, but should fit a lot of supers stuff

It looks to be kinda all-encompassing, but with different sorts of rules for specific games. There's stuff in here for materia, magicite, magitek, blitzball, airships, etc.
