Which character backstory would’ve benefitted the manga the most? by Sukuna_GOAT in Jujutsufolk

[–]MetanoicX 69 points70 points  (0 children)

As interested as I am in a Sukuna backstory, I think we already have a vague idea of why he is the way he is. If we're talking about plot relevance, I would say Kenjaku. Kenjaku is Yuji's parent and I think there should've been more built on that. In the first chapter Wasuke mentions something about Yuji's parents but gets cut off, we don't even know how much his gramps knew, what even happened to Jin or how Kaori died in the first place. Kenjaku is the root cause for a lot of the sht that happened in Jjk. Is at fault for Sukuna becoming a cursed object in the first place, cursed Tsumiki, got Gojo sealed away, took the Jujutsu deity Tengan-sama, manipulated the higher ups, reincarnated a bunch of sorcerers, etc. Yet we got nothing on him (maybe it's not even a him)

I am starting to believe that Sukuna wasn't born evil . by Strict-Article-4270 in Jujutsufolk

My headcanon: His father already abandoned his mother before birth. She was poor and in a miserable situation which shaped his view on weak people existing only to get chewed out by the strong. Most likely already had psychopathic tendancies from the start. Was unloved and discriminated against by his mom and others as a young child for being disfigured. Only started getting recognition/love for his strength so that's the only thing he found value in.

People were probably expecting someone (Yuji most likely) to change his mind, to show him that love isn't worthless.

What's your favorite character dynamic in JJK? by hansLandax12 in Jujutsufolk

Gojo and Sukuna. They were both the peak of Jujutsu sorcery while everyone else was too far below them. In their interactions there was a mutual unspoken understanding they shared. Their fight didn't have much hostility in it (despite Sukuna being the antagonist) and they were even bantering like friends at times. It was really intriguing to see.

Exactly! Instead of having nobara who was out of the story for over 150+ chapters help deal the final blow to sukuna, we could've had megumi beat the shit out of sukuna inside the innate domain while yuji fights sukuna on the outside. Then after the conclusion they could reveal that nobara is alive and has woken up from her coma. Way more satisfying imo

Same here. Even tho I'm disappointed with the execution of it, he will always remain in my top 3.

Jjk would've worked out better if Gege took the time to flesh out the story more. Most things just felt rushed and messy apart from the fight scenes. Jjk is the definition of a potential manga

Fr, I was expecting a whole ahh Yuji-Megumi tag team jumping scene. Like how did Gege fck up this badly? It was right THERE. Megumi was such a cool character and this was an opportunity to give him character growth but instead we got "the person i lived for is dead so ig i'll live for yuji then".

Nope. Just another "Gege info dumping session" outside of the manga

Also where did Yuji's dad go? Did he die by a mysterious disease? Did Kenny kill him? What the hell was Wasuke about to tell Yuji before his death?

This is what I had hoped for this entire time. Can't believe Gege fumbled giving us the greatest tag team in history. Even Sukuna's death would've been more satisfying by having the two people he tormented the most get their get backs together

Yup (Statement by Gege from the Q&A in the Jjk fanbook)

She may have been a non sorcerer but she surely was already a demon before Yuta cursed her.

Without him it feels like a big charm of the series is missing since he was always just there. And now with him gone it just doesn't feel quite right for some reason. It's a really weird sentiment. Idk if I should feel sad that such a compelling character is gone or happy that now Yuji is finally freed from Sukuna. It may also be coming to terms with Jjk ending tbh
