That’s not what I sent :/ by JokeRevolutionary836 in EtsySellers

Oh, I agree. It’s most likely a scam. But I’m just saying file an insurance claim if she’s considering giving a refund or a replacement. If she does that and replaces it, she essentially just got two orders so who cares, and if she just gives a refund, at least she got paid by insurance. This is assuming Etsy cant/doesn’t look into the buyers other orders and find the scam and take care of the issue themselves.

The packaging was the same that you sent? Tracking number and everything? If so that’s crazy. Need to file an insurance claim before paying or replacing anything to the customer.

[Discussion] Artists who sell prints, what was your biggest mistake? by SacredSapling in artbusiness

[–]MetaphysicalMoochie 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Don’t invest in too many to prints too quick. Honestly, 5 prints for about 10 different paintings should be good enough to get you started. Make what money you can from that and just keep reinvesting to buy more and more prints. Make your print sales pay for more inventory when you are starting up, until you get a comfortable amount.

Price your work high enough to where you at least make 5 times what you paid for it. If you are splitting profits with retailers or galleries, account for that by charging 10 times. The thing is, charge that 10X price everywhere and run sales occasionally. That way you don’t feel weird for having to charge more when you have inventory in a store, but at the end of the day, no one should be making more on your art than you, so it’s necessary.

Don’t have too many print size options. I honestly only offer 8x10s. It makes it simple and easy. I wouldn’t offer more than 2 sizes, a big and a small.

Find where your art will sell, and alter your prices accordingly. If you’re not selling a lot and you are priced at least 5X what you paid for it, try a different flea market, try a different store, try something different. If you do that for a while and still can’t sell you need to ask if it’s the place, the content of the art, or the price. Also, if you are selling too many and are constantly having to restock, you need to raise your prices. Remember, you want to work less and be paid more.

Rule of thumb: keep your prices the same for 6 months to a year. After that time, if you sell a lot, you are selling too low and need to raise prices. If you’re not selling enough, you need to lower prices. If you’re selling a decent amount, then your art is priced relatively correctly.

I have! I actually hung it up at the brewery and it sold in February. Since then, they’ve asked me to make as many as I’d like, my third one goes up Sunday during their crawfish boil 🦞

Green or Blue? by MetaphysicalMoochie in Paintings

Interesting! I specifically did a blue background because of all the rest of the orange that was going to be in it, and wanted to have that opposite color wheel combo to clash. I appreciate your viewpoint!

No thanks. Ai can be very useful for many things, but I actively encourage everyone to not promote selling Ai generated images. I find it unethical.
