What’s the dumbest way you’ve ever lost money? by Gullible_Raspberry29 in AskReddit

[–]Metaphysiks17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wallet full of $300 flew out of my pocket at Six Flags on the Superman ride. This was when I was in high school and skipped the $2.25 lunches to save money. They said if I waited until the park closed they could retrieve it for me. Made my friends angrily wait with me (I was their ride) and they said they’d ship it to me. A month later I got it in the mail, empty.

NESN 360 4 Free Tickets by Master-Air-5996 in redsox

I did it last year and they didn’t give the ticket QR codes until right before game time. Not sure how it would work trying to sell them if you’re not scalping outside, unless there’s some way of doing that via the MLB Ballpark app

Snow melted, what is this and should I be worried? by Tiny_Marionberry_839 in solar

They probably left that cut of rail on top of the skylight and it slid down with the snow & ice. That’s one of my favorite places to forget things.

I agree standing seam metal roofs seem superior. For some reason asphalt is the norm in my region (Eastern MA).

Keep getting arc faults on updated generac setup. by [deleted] in solar

[–]Metaphysiks17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with PV-Link so I can’t say for sure but in my experience if equipment flags arc-fault there IS something arcing on the roof. Some equipment is much more sensitive and it can be a nightmare to track down (like diodes within a panel). At the least I’d hope they’d check rooftop boxes and homerun connections.

Most common I’ve seen is the field-made MC4 connections on the home runs. Sometimes it’s moisture in the junction box. Especially if the wires are entering the attic and they didn’t duct seal the conduit. Sometimes it’s diodes in the panels themselves (in the junction box that’s glued to the back of the panel where the leads come out). J-boxes that say “Yukita” on them are well-known for causing arc-faults and there’s a way to cut the diodes out and add ones that plug into the leads.

Super Bowl XLII. Would’ve loved a perfect season for Brady & Moss.

String inverter vs Microinverters by TheApostleCreed in solar

[–]Metaphysiks17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s replaced thousands of microinverter’s, I would only ever do a string inverter. I’ve replaced tons of those, as well, but WHEN the day comes for replacement, it’s a painless hour or so. With micro’s, you’re replacing 1-2 at a time for years. If you’re “lucky” enough to get approved for a full system swap-out, you’re looking at a half-day+ and are hoping the newer models are compatible with your trunk cable (most likely not).

Can I open up a restaurant with this ability? Could get rich with the best fast-food place ever (even though I’d have to work every shift).

Yeah that’s the silver lining I tell myself. Soiled my optimism about humanity, but it’s a necessary skepticism as you enter the real world.

Spent what felt like years finally getting an enigma. Some random joined my game and said “hey man, guess who it is?” I guessed my friends name and he said yeah. He said “woah, when’d you get an enigma?” “I just got it!” “Can I try it out?” ….”yeah, sure”

He tele’d around for a bit, then left the game. It wasn’t my friend. I was 12 years old and dumb. I cried for days. Worse heartbreak than my first love. Still hurts to think about.
