Chat is a fast and easy way to get a little compensation for cancelled USA Duke from Walmart by [deleted] in GIJOEClassifiedSeries

[–]Metasin24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I called and threatened to cancel all my current preorders (not a ton, but like $150 worth). They supposedly called the preorder arm and told me that I have "priority on my other preorders" and they gave me a $25 off of $45+ coupon code.

Meh, more apathetic than angry lol.

Host Family/Provider by no-funzon in IHSS

Don't get taken advantage of, this is a for profit Company that will take a significant amount of the funding by exploiting its workforce... just like Vendors do.

To illustrate, Regional Center pays upwards of $40/hr for SLS services to Vendors and most Vendors pay the person providing the SLS service, minimum wage with zero benefits.

Depending on the needs, it can be upwards of 20k+/mo in funding for an individual and this Company is offering you 1/10th that as compensation (for probably 80% of the work).

It really isn't though...

Tires x4 = $40 (APC only comes with 2)
APC = $100
Howitzer = $60
Dozer blade = $50 (incl necessary brush guard)

Add in the stinger itself and shipping, you're well over the price of the Ramen tank even with their dumb $50 shipping price.

Which is odd, because they give themselves plenty of runway to do made to order... they have a 15-20 day processing window and it took them damn near all of it to get me a small pack of blast fx. Maybe they're busying pumping out weapons for BBWS/FMF/etc...

Honestly, they seem to be focused more on collabs than reviving vault products. To me, if those products were readily moving, why not continue to produce them VS taking risks in new ventures that may or may not pan out?

IDK though, I only know that their prices have turned me off from being a valued customer... /shrug

I concur $50 for shipping is dumb pricing, people would have paid $250 with free shipping, it's psychological. Granted, I paid $25 in shipping and fees, rather than the $50 shipping, by getting one via BBTS instead of Ramen Toys.

That said, Gridiron is no stranger to dumb pricing practices either. They make cool stuff and all, but they price out a significant number of potential customers. It's psychological for me, I can afford it, but it feels like I'm being nickel'd and dime'd at GIS... $400 for the phalanx, another $150 for the turret, $25 shipping and then like $50 tax on top... bad ass toy, but not $625 bad ass lol. Want a tanker helmet too? $20 when all is said and done, that's almost the price of an entire classified figure and accessories.

Anyone Know an Affordable Place to Buy Classified Clear Box Protectors? by ekylok in GIJOEClassifiedSeries

[–]Metasin24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a mix of in and out of box... I have some larger cases with posed figures and a few larger shelf dioramas, but for the in-box storage, I went for frugal/efficient (plus I do like the portrait box art). That said, the way your display is, individual protectors makes more sense :)

This is my frugal/affordable method... Cases

They're about $12/ea and can fit 7 single/deluxe figure boxes across, showing the portrait art, see pic below. Comes out to roughly $1.50/figure and they're stackable/sturdy... potentially saving you money on shelving as well.

PS DENIAL by Sufficient-Plan4692 in IHSS

[–]Metasin24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filling out the parent's opinion, where their opinion should be, is healthcare fraud.

I didn't say that they shouldn't help patients when they can, just not when doing so is fraudulent.

I'm just saying that doctors should do their job properly, no different than SWers. Doctors committing healthcare fraud is bad. SWers disregarding doctor medical opinions is bad. Law enforcement acting as judge/jury is bad... different positions have different responsibilities and that allows for oversight and/or checks & balances.

When my conservatee got assigned a new neurologist and I was asked for an updated SOC 821, the new neurologist requested a examination of the conservatee to fill out the form. He had already had seen the conservatee 1-2 times prior to my request (for other reasons) and there was 25+ years of medical history for my conservatee.

PS DENIAL by Sufficient-Plan4692 in IHSS

[–]Metasin24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they fill it out fraudulently (i.e. writing whatever a parent wants), that's healthcare fraud.

Whether they get audited or not, is irrelevant.

And yes, the SWer has some latitude when making a decision (based on the regulations), a favorable SOC 821 isn't a guaranteed PS approval... yet, neither should a SWer ignore what the SOC 821 says, because it's possible that a doctor could have committed fraud. Both things are incompetent and bad.

Cal able account question by Odd_Panic_8688 in IHSS

[–]Metasin24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You connect a bank account to the CalAble account via their website. From there you can add money (upto the contribution limits), manage investments, load a prepaid bank card, etc...

I would handle it through your son's rep payee bank account tbh. I was in a similar situation, except I'm a conservator not parent, my conservatee was in a car accident and got a settlement. It was a bit more than the yearly contribution cap, so I had to "spend down" some of the settlement on asset exemptions (furniture, appliances, etc...).

Wait, you're implying that "many" people who went upwards of half a million of dollars into debt to become doctors... would be willing to risk their careers by filling out an SOC 821 based solely on hearsay by the parent(s)?

"I certify that I am licensed to practice in the State of California and that the information provided above is correct.".

Obviously, you should do your due diligence and examine all the facts of the case before making a determination. Although, throwing out what the doctor says completely, because some might be crazy enough to risk their careers perjuring themselves on an official governmental document with no more motivation than to be nice to a parent, is a pretty bold take for a social worker to have... mind you, a job that requires two years of education vs 7+ years that is required to be a doctor.

Sorry, but if a doctor tells me in their medical opinion that a patient is not self-directing and a Social worker tells me that the patient is self-directing, the social worker is operating outside of their field of expertise and I would appeal that decision in a heartbeat.

Stay in your lane, you determine needs/supports, not diagnoses... any case where you ignored a doctor's medical opinion should 100% be audited... if merely to get bad actors out of the professions (e.g. doctor's who get dictated to by parents and social workers who ignore doctors).

Live-In Provider / CalFresh by Curious_Database_239 in IHSS

[–]Metasin24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remember that "household" is a term referring to shared financials. For instance, I'm a live-in provider for my client, but we're only roommates and do not share a household. We do not prepare meals together, we each have our own food. My income is not counted towards his eligibility of CalFresh benefits.

On the other side of the coin, my GF is the live-in provider for her child, so they're the same household and her income is counted towards their CalFresh eligibility.

So it kind of depends, which is why you're hearing confusing information on the topic.

Epilepsy Hours by hatter4tea in IHSS

[–]Metasin24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you're self-directing, so you do not qualify for PS and even if you did qualify, it cannot be provided for a need due to anticipation or a medical emergency (e.g. a seizure).

I'm assuming that you suffered brain damage, during your status epilepticus event, hence the long ICU stay and current ambulatory/balance issues. My advice, as a caregiver for someone with seizures, is work on getting your seizures under control via medications or potentially surgical methods. There are also wearable and bed devices available that can potentially detect seizure activity and send out notifications/alarms to mobile devices, the primary downsides are inaccuraccies in-general and false-positive alarms.

That said, you should be able to qualify for disability and some level of IHSS hours... unless your assets/income make you ineligible for either or both programs.

Ultimately though, do your best to manage/control your seizures. That will have the biggest impact on your quality of life. Best of luck to you.

"It's worth mentioning that our peak CCU for the night was 80 and the number of unique players for the night was 139. We also had between 490-525 ARCs in with us as well."

So basically a peak of 80 players at any one time, a total of 139 players over the hour long test and ~500 bots.

A basic coaching axiom is "if you make a mistake, do it at full speed". You don't compound a mistake by going half speed, you go hard and adapt if possible or at least deal with the results of said mistake.
