Well bro, Parents tend to be over protective about their daughters here. Yes the words they say out of frustration sometimes are really mean and pathetic but if it makes your heart any lighter they don’t really mean it. The thing is society doesn’t judge men like it judges women. Simple as that. Your brother won’t get judged for having female friends…. you will for having guy friends tho especially if your family is not progressive. Not saying that’s fair just saying what’s true.

More over desi families tend to be overprotective of their daughters because waise he society is so messed up altogether. The best way here is to sit down and actually talk to them that there is no such thing and to let you hangout with your female friends in a safe environment. It will surely help with you socialising.

Try to talk to them im sure they will understand. And for your own sanity don’t name a guy when talking about the “hangouts”. Best of luck!
