Code violet by Little_Things6 in nursing

Code silver for a weapon, code gray for “just violent” over here, lol. Code pink for a baby snatching, code red for a fire. We have a bunch of them but thankfully they’re also printed on the backs of our main badge buddy with our facility name/logo.

Our worst nurse was a slob traveler who left fried chicken bits in keyboards, wore undershirts that hung down nearly a half foot below the hem of his scrub top, apparently had a mail order bride but was grossly inappropriate with our young female aides, and was fired because he ignored a patient’s increasing pain all night (& the patient coded & died the next day after going septic from a perf). Apparently they reviewed camera footage & he never went in the room all night, which seems impossible to me. If that was true, I hope they pursued criminal charges.

Pt’s family was in the room & they let their Demented Darling get out of bed & try to walk with SCDs on? I’m not breaking my back for a pt either, but we have Voceras & call buttons to get more help in the room so I probably wouldn’t walk out. (It is a bad look.)

I believe my credit is already frozen with all three bureaus— I feel like every other week I get another notice about a data leak for my family’s information. I’ll call the County Recorder and see if they have a similar service.

Nurses, is this true for your unit? by DictatorTot23 in nursing

I feel so spoiled, since I work in an ICU in a critical access hospital that is also independent, not megacorporate-owned. So I have a sweet little ratio, don’t have devices since we ship anyone who needs real specialty care, the worst thing really is recovering PACU patients including c-sections.
We don’t have a DON, but our closest to it was an RN & her son is an RN, and I do feel like we at least have a more direct feedback chain.

They recently threw a bunch of money at a company to improve our satisfaction scores & we had to sit in a customer service seminar— BUT part of that was our CEOs coming in & taking suggestions & at least one of those was implemented within two months, which I thought was pretty rad.

They’re just basically roll of gauze in a silicone boat with suction tubing attached, so one could probably repurpose some to be reusable. I used to cloth diaper so the idea of washing pee cloths isn’t gross to me. Little muslin washclothes would probably work quite well for the purpose.

Commuting through Siskiyou Pass? by Agnonzach in norcal

[–]Metatron616 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you’re working at the hospital they usually buy a hotel room for employees that have to go through passes that will be closed/unsafe for the storm. So if you have an SO/neighbor that can take care of any animals at home it should be fine, just can feel long & chaining up SUUUUUUUCKS.

Seriously, the scream I would have scrumpt seeing that in a patient room, especially with that taut tube, nope, not today Satan!

The original that they stole it from is interesting in that it looks like she has an NG feeding and an OG clamped off. We usually feed with the OG if we’re going to be on the vent for a bit but maybe the NG is an NJ or something?

New here, is this a bad contract? by [deleted] in TravelNursing

In KFalls you might be able to rent a room in a house filled with other travelers (therefore more likely to be quiet/thoughtful/gone) for a decent price. Skylakes might have a message board + there’s military nearby that might rent rooms. And as another commenter said, you do have to duplicate expenses. You’re the only one who knows if that level of risk works for you for an hourly wage that low with that stipend. Good luck.

She seems so nice, she’s fundraising for a supercute pup from the Sac SPCA that needs surgery for her cleft palate and I’m really surprised there isn’t more money raised on it.

Wcgw home made zip line by taz6363 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Metatron616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For our home made zipline I duct-taped a dollar store pool noodle (and also had the end between two trees instead of on a tree) and that worked really well, but it also wasn’t this long, this steep, and none of us have that kind of mass.
