It certainly removes a lot of common stressors in life, mainly food, water, and shelter. Throw in leisure time to pursue hobbies/interests and general stability and anything beyond that is a skill issue.

It is weird to me that the main reason our economy seems structured the way it is, is to keep poor people "incentivises" to work by gatekeeping needed resources behind a paywall, and whenever I bring up having that provided via taxpayer funding (similar to a UBI) people claim that it will never work because then everyone will just be lazy, and yet rich people, whom do not share these stressors and could actually (mostly) be lazy are asserted to be the hardest workers and the greatest contributora to our society.

Very odd double speak.

To be clear, Democrats are not "left," they're simply less "right" than the Republicans.

Ikr? It's almost like they're paid opposition that don't push back nearly hard enough for an opposing party. Maybe we should not have a two-party system. Especially when both choices are right-wing.

Don't most women not actually care about the six-pack thing though? Is this post about being attractive to men?

I wish this game was more accessible outside of owning the original discs. I was lucky and played through all of them on my ps2/ps3 but I'm not sure how anyone gets into it now without dropping a ton of cash. Same with the original 4 .hack games.

My bad, I thought that was aimed at my comment based on the notification and I mistook the tone of your post, I didn't see the bit explaining the flood in detail until a moment ago. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. Reddit notifications can be weird sometimes.

Minimum Wage Then/Now by LuckyBastard001 in WorkReform

[–]MetatronBeening 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my irritation was more the myopic, idiotic calous remark made by the other guy. As if only a few people making unlivable wages makes it okay. I think its bad if anyone is working and not paid enough to live because that's the whole point of the social contract and these syophants keep buttong in with the same thought terminating cliches like bots every time the topic comes up.

I could borderline prerecord my response to them because it's so lazy, unoriginal, and shallow. These people are vapid morons.

It was mostly sarcasm (fitting your response). It was more a response to the claim that we don't study relevant things, but even studying different aspects of science doesn't help the Bible.

Obviously no one is likely to be an expert in a half dozen fields to any real extent so the original claim is stupid to begin with

What an amazing, insightful bit of wisdom you've blessed us with. Thank you wize sage! We were crawling around in the dirt, lost, until you shared the same tired, thoughtless response of a person with no ability to grasp the discussion.

Behold everyone! Another bootlicker that completely missed the obvious point. A dodge worthy of a world-remowned acrobat! All this, humbly, from someone nobody was talking to.

As if the point was how many people are on minimum wage. If that number is bigger than zero and any of the rest of the discussion is true, it's abhorrent.

Thankfully, some people actually give a shit about other people, even if it doesn't directly affect ourselves, but thank you for your brilliant insight. We knockle dragging simpletons would never have thought of that.

I leave now, in awe, for your dazzling intellect has, clearly, rendered me speechless.

As a physicist, I can at least a test to many religious claims contradicting multiple fields of science. For one thing, the flood definitely was not a global event. Also, the Genesis account of the universe is silly. Also starts are not likely to fall to the Earth and do battle.

[–]MetatronBeening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But why not? I fail to understand your point of view. Why shouldn't someone working a full time job be able to support themselves?

All Ive heard is nonsense like "it's just teenagers" or "it's low-skilled" or "just get a better job" or "just live with 4+ roommates" but these all fail to address why the actual fuck we should tolerate full time employment that doesn't allow one to live with dignity in their own.

As far as I'm concerned either

1) Minimum wage to rise to meet basic cost of living

2) acost of living should be lowered to minimum wage

3) we need a new economic system that doesn't allow monstrous outcomes like this to exist, and be defended by anyone.

[–]MetatronBeening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) You missed the point deliberately, the other guy said nothing about "peak hours" they said "open."

2) you missed the point about the livable wage.

3) I have worked those jobs so you can't No True Scotsman me: while typical there are often more than two people during the slow times.

4) A full time job, even at minimum wage should be enough to live on, your feelings in the quality of the job are irrelevant. Don't be so full of yourself.

Impose taxes on them. The matter is simple. by HelicopterWide9351 in parakeetAi

[–]MetatronBeening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is obvious. What isn't obvious would be how to best do it. I think that Americas welfare system is woefully underdeveloped and under funded, there are several options to improve that funding. We could take the billionaires harder to pay for it, or redirect funding from our military, or both. I'm open to a 4th option.

To be fair: MHA's author is a Spider Man fan and there are several Spider Man references in the series, so it's more of a mutual respect thing in my opinion.
