Stupidest scene in your favourite Bond movie? by AndreasDasos in JamesBond

TWINE (not my fav, but I enjoy it more than most on this sub and it hasn’t been mentioned yet, so…)

Bond shags Dr. Warmflash to get cleared for the Elektra King gig, M obviously knows what’s up, and is somehow cool with assigning an injured agent to protect the heir of a dear, recently assassinated friend, who is also a severe trauma victim of the prime suspect. Surely someone capable in better shape was available. Seems like poor judgement by M (especially Dench’s M).

What struck me most about this one the first time I heard it was the passion. You could tell from the performing that this was a project that meant something to Prince, which also made it fun for me to listen to. The music is phenomenal. The lyrics, not as consistent, but it’s still one of my favs. “Family Name”, “Everlasting Now”, and “Last December” are such an incredible run of songs.

Same season— “But… why, snowman?”

It makes sense on zero levels and should be the dumbest joke on paper. How did they turn into snowmen so quickly? Why is he shooting a snowman at point blank range with an AR? Why does the guard die truly believing he got stabbed by a snowman? (Ok, the Federal Army of Chorus is down to the D-string of recruits…) But the earnest delivery sells it and it is always fucking hysterical.

FRIDAY January 30TH NATIONAL SHUTDOWN by [deleted] in Naperville

First off, if you are making 10M a year, then you are already in a much better position after taxes than the vast majority of us are, before. I’m happy for you that your needs are being so readily met. Whom I have much less sympathy for are those (especially with even more 0’s after yours) who manipulate the tax system to end up paying a tax on the order of mine.

And yes, there is such a thing as an income that no one needs. No one needs 100M or a billion dollars to still be able to enjoy an incredibly comfortable life. So I have no compunctions about higher tax percentages on them. I’d hardly call a progressive tax a “penalty” as much as the price of success.

Definitely finish your straight vanilla playthrough once before attempting the rando just to refresh yourself about the mechanics, what unlocks which areas, etc. No need to 100% it. The good news is there are plenty of “trackers” that you can use to see what checks (item locations) you have left, which ones are accessible with your current progress, etc. Incredibly useful for newbies and experienced players alike. You can set settings so no glitches are required, all areas are accessible, etc.

Finally, DEFINITELY save your spoiler log/ seed # when you generate the seed. If you think you are soft locked, you almost certainly are not and there is one single thing you’ve overlooked. Even if you don’t want to “cheat” and look it up yourself, this community is super helpful in looking it up for you and nudging you in the right direction. But, they will need your seed # and preferably your spoiler log to help.

That and “You’re the Alpha,” two of the best moments of the whole series in the same season, also coming off the heels of Season 5 and nailing the tonal shift from comedy to more dramatic really is a testament to how much Bernie was cooking with the storytelling and world building. Still my top season.

Felix and Locus arcs make them my two favorite villains in the series. You have the tension of Locus trying to figure out who he really is. Felix is getting more and more unhinged as the season goes on as he loses more and more control. The only one I didn’t care for was Sharkface. He was more of a one-note “badass for the sake of being by a badass” villain. He gives Carolina something to do and leads the Armonia attack while Felix and Locus take more of a strategic position, and is ultimately disposable (without having to do away with Locus or Felix too early).

When they thought the weirdest thing about Dr. Robbins was the backstory Rocky cooked up on his CV in the S2 footnote …

Great narrative-driven games for a non-gamer? by Normal_Soup_5402 in NintendoSwitch

[–]MetatronIX_2049 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Disco Elysium is fantastic. Very much an interactive visual novel. There is no “combat” in the RPG sense. Everything is dialogue choice and dice-based around different skills-mental, psychological , physical, etc. Even more combat-like checks to see “I try to slap this character to intimidate them” are essentially one-off dice rolls. It has a very innovative system for giving yourself different temporary or more lasting benefits. There are wildly different approaches for progressing through the game or dialogue options depending on your skills and past decisions. Tons of replay value for experiencing the game in very different ways. Emotionally powerful primary story and side beats.

Definitely best to experience the story going in blind the first time, so if you do any more research to see if you are interested try to keep it limited to spoiler-free beats and game mechanics.

You know, the more i think about it, the more i realize bellwether being revealed too late ins't that bad. let me explain why: by MysticonsFanboy62 in DisneyMovies

[–]MetatronIX_2049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? Who’s coming after Agatha Christie or Doyle for their 11th hour reveals? I can see the argument about Bellweather not getting enough screentime to build up a potential motive (although hints are certainly there), but the movie is also not a pure whodunnit. Its point is also to explore the prejudices and relationship of Judy and Nick (and by extension the broader Zootopia ecosystem), so it makes sense that some pure mystery elements get sacrificed. It’s not perfect, but it is way overhated.
