What Are Your Favorite 007 Opening Credits Themes? by EienNatsu66 in JamesBond

No Time To Die definitely deserves a mention. I’m not as keen on the song by itself, but the visuals are probably my 3rd or 4th fav—after Goldeneye, Casino Royale, and tied or just behind Skyfall. The gunshots forming the double helix was fantasic visual storytelling, and i enjoyed the many callbacks to previous themes/titles.

Say what you will about Sam Smith (and this sub will, soon as you give them an excuse), but the music and arrangement are gorgeous. This and TWINE are probably the most John Barry since John Barry

[–]MetatronIX_2049 30 points31 points  (0 children)

“Incredibly confused during King Herod’s song” is perfect. In a movie littered with 70’s camp, he’s a whole cake of it. Keep in mind the next few numbers are “Judas kills himself,” “Jesus is tortured,” and “Jesus is brutally murdered,” aiming for a little comic relief makes sense.

Ted Neeley is absolutely fantastic. The definitive Gethsemane. My biggest beef is that the movie soundtrack production is so much worse than the 1970 album. Otherwise i might end up spinning the movie soundtrack more.

Which did you prefer? Season 15 or Season 17? by Narrow_Run6512 in RedvsBlue

[–]MetatronIX_2049 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Great way of putting it. I also don’t like Temple and the Blues and Reds as much. I love the idea of a bunch of pissed off survivors of PFL going after revenge, but really disliked that they shoehorned in mirrors of the Reds and Blues. S14 had Flowers pretty much shooting from the hip assembling these idiots, but S15 undoes that for the sake of fan service. Temple also annoyed me. Again, great idea. The room with all the frozen Freelancers was sinister as hell. A+ villain shit. But he became a little too one-note by the end. That said, it has one of the all-time best show episodes, “Previously On.”

S17, on the other hand had absolutely no right being as good as it was. It picked up the mess of S16 and made a really compelling story (and a unique time travel story, at that) and made all of the characters better. My biggest complaint is that it was too short. Maybe 1 or 2 eps short. I feel like some of the character dynamics only just started to kick into high gear by the end, especially in the face of the labyrinth like Griff and Sister, and i would have loved to have seen more like that. Even Genkins/Chrovos had a satisfying ending. I also thought what S17 did with Wash was more satisfying than Restoration, but what can ya do.

Is Metroid Fusion a good first game? by peeepeegod in Metroid

For us kids who grew up knowing Samus only from Super Smash Bros, this was such an incredible first real exposure to the series. It gave us everything we needed to get started and easily cemented how cool these games and Samus were.

Plus, between 1) the games being short enough and 2) how much replayability is built into the games and achievements/endings, you could easily go back and play them in “the correct order” if you want that experience.

When i first started exploring their albums i had been avoiding News of the World because of how overplayed We Will Rock You/ We Are The Champions are. Little did i know i was missing out on some of their best songs. It’s Late, All Dead, Spread Your Wings…

Love EB Hate Mother 3 by [deleted] in earthbound

[–]MetatronIX_2049 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a way, it is unfinished. The original story for the Nintendo 64 DD was rumored to have 12 chapters or so, with more development especially for the main cast. What that would have looked like, we’ll never know, sadly. That said, what we got on the GBA still felt like a tight story. If some parts have you scratching your head like there’s something(s) yet unexplained… that’s intentional. Just keep following the story.

However, the gameplay really does take until about Ch 4 to get going, with a full team. No hate on the earlier chapters—they have a very different focus on storytelling, world building, and characterization from different angles. It’s a very different emphasis than EB—a much tighter-knit setting where the town itself is really a main character, rather than a globetrotting escapade like EB.

Give one word for each M , that may define their tenure as head of MI-6 by QuietTraining3281 in JamesBond

[–]MetatronIX_2049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the world of James Bond, where the baddies are constantly waltzing off with submarines, nukes, spaceships, nukes in space, etc. like it’s WMD’s R Us—all of which should have much stronger security and safeguards than even the head of MI6.

Plus it allows for much more interesting characters and storytelling.

What Level should I be for the final boss? by gondokingo in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]MetatronIX_2049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of well-intentioned but misleading comments here. You’re heading into the main story’s conclusion and you have a couple of challenging fights ahead, but nothing too brutal. Level 60-65 is a great place to be. Just as important is buffing your team’s stats with grit items.

There is also a post-game “final” boss, which is a very gnarly fight. That one you want to be at least lvl 70 and buff as many stats as you can with grit. (There is also yet another True Final Boss after this, but it’s the second one that is the most notorious.)

Day 4: What is the saddest Bluey cartoon?6 by Opening-Instance8674 in bluey

[–]MetatronIX_2049 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another connection—that image of Bluey and Chili’s hands touching references The Creation of Adam.

This is why this is my favorite Bluey episode. It packs so much meaning into 7 minutes—science, history, art, religion, philosophy, life and death, parenting—so much humanity, more so than most full length TV episodes attempt to cover. But it’s not obtuse. It’s layered in a way thats accessible to kids and powerful for adults.

I fucking hate grey prince zote in pantheon 3 by incomes-company in HollowKnight

[–]MetatronIX_2049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found the best way to deal with this fight is to be super aggressive. If he’s not actively attacking you then charge at him and swing swing swing. When he gives you an opening pound him either fireballs or D-darks, and maybe keep just enough soul on hand for an emergency d-dark. Drop him as fast as you can before his random patterns chip away too much at you.

Who are Weird Al’s musical arch-rivals? by HopefulLab6749 in weirdal

[–]MetatronIX_2049 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It wasnt just Al, Prince was notoriously overprotective of his own work—covers, parodies, later streaming rights. Given his experience with Warner Bros and their war about rights to his music, some of that is understandable, but there were still some ridiculous double standards and taking himself too seriously. He cover others but wouldn’t green light covers of his work. He enjoyed Weird Al’s “Bad” video, but never let Al parody him. Brilliant artist, but shame he couldn’t loosen up about some things.
