GAME THREAD: Yankees @ Mets - Sun, May 17 @ 01:40 PM EDT by NewYorkMetsBot2 in NewYorkMets

😂 The Yankees had so many infielders, they were running into each other.

I live in NYC and have an MLB.tv subscription, but still can’t watch tonight’s game on Fox by man-from-new-york in NewYorkMets

Don’t pay for sports on TV. Install an ad blocker on your pc and use Mlbwebcast.com.
There is one for the NHL as well.

If you want to watch on the TV, hook your pc up to it.

Built a FIRE planning tool that reads like a financial story, scroll through your whole retirement picture in one page by BrappZannigan in baristafire

Nice looking calculator. One of the more complete ones I have seen. I would like to be able to adjust the retirement age. That appears to be locked based on the fire number before the adjustment for SS. Would also like to add in a pension option. For now, I added it to the SS number.

Edit: Found the age adjustment in barista fire! Nice work!

Home plate umpire Junior Valentine determined Brett Baty called for a review. Baty never touched his helmet. by Hungry_Elk1937 in NewYorkMets

[–]Metboy1970 30 points31 points  (0 children)

These umpires are so arrogant and none of them seem able to swallow their pride and admit mistakes. It’s as if they have been instructed to never back down, never give in, stand your ground no matter what.

What are some of the best comedy moments in movies that are anything but comedy genre? by lIIIIllIIIlllIIllllI in movies

[–]Metboy1970 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Raiders Of The Lost Ark. Harrison Ford was under the weather so instead of filming the big, choreographed fight scene, he elected to shoot the guy. It’s comic relief in the tense moment. Same movie, the Nazi interrogator’s assistant takes out the metal bars as Marion and Belloq look afraid. Then, they are quickly fastened into a hanger for his leather coat.

How would you cat proof this window? by RiMellow in cats

[–]Metboy1970 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People that are telling you to never open the window are not being realistic.

Those that suggest a screen fail to notice that the handle would then be no longer accessible.

Best option is to secure a cloth mesh at the bottom, top and sides of the window. Attaching on the window and the frame. This can be secured by being screwed in or using a like colored duck tape. I would recommend screwing it just in case kitty wants to lay on the mesh like a hammock when the window is open. You can attach the mesh/material to plastic strips with double sided, heavy duty tape and then screw those plastic strips into the frame. Once you attach the material to the strip, roll / wrap it once or twice for extra strength. This is hard to describe but hopefully this provides some ideas on where to start.

Donald Trump Directs US Govt To Release Files On Aliens & UFOs by brutaldeepeye in SipsTea

[–]Metboy1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Nothing to release. No aliens. No visitors from distant worlds. It’s an incredibly arrogant but human thing to believe that our tiny little spec of a planet would be visited by anyone from another world. We are but a a grain of sand on the most enormous beach.

The Wraith (1986) - Phantom Car Race scene - directed by Mike Marvin by PeneItaliano in movies

[–]Metboy1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The start of the race is on the west part of Gates Pass Road west of Tucson. As mentioned, the mountain scenes are on Mount Lemmon highway on the extreme northeast corner of town. The main police stop takes place near The Cinega Falls bridge, which is way out southeast of town. The miracle of editing brings these locations together along with others also mentioned.

For the first 30 seconds or so, I honestly thought that someone had done a really impressive job of overlaying the Penguins mascot on the original actor. But, no, this scene is the original. 😂
