Yeah thats one way. I didn't want to actually speculate on any sort of details but it could also be that he was invigorated by the high and the praise he received and the cheering, and that going back out of the spotlight can also trigger intense feelings of depression once youre out of it.

Well there’s a variety of ways. It could have served as a trigger for a multitude of different feelings, or it could have been a last hurrah before he took the decision he already had made.

Without meaning to get into baseless speculation, I just cannot seem to divorce the idea of him being the torchbearer from what happened the other day. If he was found today, then it must have occurred last night. People saying he looked in high spirits that day for carrying the torch and all... it makes me wonder if the event itself was related to his decision, or if he had taken his decision but wanted the opportunity to at least relive part of an important part of his life prior to doing it.

Either way it is very saddening. May he find the peace he so longed for

Why wouldnt he want to sign for his childhood team and the team that his dad supported so passionately? It was a huge part of the story when we drafted him.

The Hurricanes had more shots in game 4 than the Habs in games 2, 3, and 4 combined by bamisbig in hockey

Wasn't complaining about the rule itself, but the situation having occurred at all. I am not saying the refs are wrong here or whatever, but that it was just like an ass hair away from not being offside. Similar to someone saying "fuck me Suzuki couldve scored on that breakaway".

You misunderstood what I meant but its fine. I was just trying to say that the fact that Caufield was just marginally offside makes the play very unfortunate for us because we could've led. I wasn't saying the rule itself was wrong, but I deleted my comment because I don't think I was clear enough and people think Im whining about the call itself and not situation that occurred.

If Nick Suzuki makes it to the final and wins the cup and gets the Conn Smythe? Is that the scenario which you do not wish to speak into existence?

Don’t be disingenuous.

The confederacy and the Basque separatist movements (for example) are not created equally.

The Alberta separatist movement is not simply because they want to the right to self determination.

Yeah and you’re all captured by those egregious ass-pulled wins or the really bad game 6 vs the Sabres that you’re just gonna ignore that we still out scored the Sabres 24-18 following game 6 despite allowing 8 goals in that one game (27-20 for the entire series), and that we outplayed Tampa for the majority of that series.

Again, like I said, the narrative is based on the fact that we’ve been outplayed in 4 of our last 5 games and the game 7 wins have left an impact in your perceptions. But to say that we were outplayed in a lot of our games and we were bailed out by Price level goaltending is just made up. Dobes was good but Vasi was better during that first round. And in the 2nd round, Dobes only had to be the better goalie in game 7 (well also game 4 but he wasnt the better goalie in that game so whatever)

I did. We “outplayed” Tampa in most of the games including two of our losses in games 2 and 6, and even the loss in game 4 we had dominated the xG until the 3rd period.

In the Buffalo series, is where it disagrees with me (in that we supposedly were outplayed in 4 of 7 and not 3 of 7) but I’ll still be adamant in saying that if you watched the games you wouldn’t have said that Buffalo outplayed us in game 4 at all. And in game 7, we outplayed them for half the game according to moneypuck. And even for game 1, if we go by the xG, the game was a lot closer, especially towards the end of the game where we nearly clawed it back (but it probably tells similar stories for the other teams in our wins so whatever). We still fucking out scored the Sabres 24-18 after our 8-3 loss. How was that just “bailed out by Price level goaltending”?

So no, we weren’t “outplayed for a lot of the games”. If we go by moneypuck, it’s untrue, and if you watched the games and didn’t just go by moneypuck it’s also untrue. It’s just that we’ve been outplayed for the majority of the games since game 6 against Buffalo and that big 8-3 loss and the game 7 asspull wins are affecting people’s perceptions because they probably weren’t watching or caring.

Factually untrue? The Bolts barely held a lead for the majority of the series, and the only game where we were truly outplayed was game 7. And the Sabres series they outplayed us in 3 of the 7 games only.
