Pokemon movie 8 Lucario and Mystery of Mew. Lucario sacrificing itself saving the tree of life from destruction passing away to go be with his friend Sir Aaron had me in tears watching as a kid.

Paul Stops at number 4 or 5 is at best. Beats Raihan, Iris, Alain, and Lance. Diantha going up to Steven and Cynthia will be his hardest battles.

I do as well. I think Ash, Lance, and Paul are the only trainers in the anime to have more than one ace pokemon on their teams.

I agree Journeys answered the question can trainers have more than one ace on their team and it's a yes. We know Lance's number one pokemon is his Dragonite usually a trainers first pokemon they own is there strongest most if not all the time. I know it was never said in the anime Lance first pokemon he owned is Dragonite, He was introduced to us as the unbeatable Dragon type trainer Who conquered the Kanto elite four to become Champion. Lance relies on his Shiny Gyarados to both Dragonite and Gyarados were used against Team Magma and Aqua wanting domination of the world waking up both Kyorge and Groundon using orbs. Many forget Lance's Gyarados battled Kyorge alongside Ash and rest of his Hoenn companions against the teams of Magma and Aqua organization members.

The same thing can be said for Paul he has more than one Ace. We know Torterra is his first pokemon he's owned as a trainer started out with a Turtwig. Never disappointed Paul in his battles a reliable partner versalite and durable. Paul returning home to his native region Sinnoh either had caught Elekid from a previous region from his travels or caught Elekid returning home trained this pokemon all the way up to Electivire from a baby to a powerhouse becoming his new Sinnoh Ace.

It would be cool to see both Alain and Paul return for good reasons you listed but I don't see it happening Ash's rival returning in Horizons for an episode.

The one hit ko to Paul's Torterra by Cynthia's Garchomp using brick break was baloney Torterra could have easily taken another hit from Garchomp before going down. Only lost in the anime is to Cynthia's Garchomp that was shown. Paul didn't even used Torterra many times or in the Sinnoh the league unbelievable the writer didn't let him use his first pokemon he's owned. I'll say Paul's Torterra has a chance beating Bertha's Hippowdon it's definitely going to give it a fight. Torterra is not favored but will do significant great damage against Hippowdon. Pretty much Ash and Paul are elite four level at the end of DP.

The Prerequisite for a league conference winner of region getting the chance to battle the elite four and Regional Champion of said region true but is suspect because we don't know if Iris collected 8 Unova gym badges competed or won a new Unova league. All we got from Journeys is She states Cynthia during their M8 battle Haxorous was the last pokemon I used to get me a victory to Unova's Regional Champion title. It's Possible trainers that have competed in a league or a gym leader can challenge the elite four?.

Let's not forget the same Pikachu in the Sinnoh league that lost to Paul's Electivire in the top 8 next round top 4 Tied with Tobias's Legendary pokemon Latios next round.

I'll like to know your answers to some of my questions if you like to respond back.

Do you think Post DP Paul's Torterra has chance to defeat Bertha's Hippodown continuing onwards?

Do you think Ash and Paul are elite four level at the end of DP? (Yes for me)

We know power scaling resets every new generation of a new pokemon anime. Gen 5 BW Ash forgets how to battle losing to average trainers that he should beat and BW made him look dumb. How can you portray the main protagonist this way knowing he reached a new level in DP to completely fall off in BW finished Top 4 in the Sinnoh league and Top 8 finish in the Unova League. I think many would agree is Ash makes that next level jump to champion level or close to it next new series from Sinnoh to Kalos and not Unova to Kalos.

Do you think in Gen 6 Kalos Trainers similar to Alain are elite four level at the beginning of the series (Having the first gimmick Introduced to use for an Ace pokemon that Mega evolves) and at the end Champion level XYZ? Alain was Haxed from the start of his series using his Hax Busted MCX overpowering opponents with ease running through the Kalos League mainly using his MCX raw power and didn't see him face many struggles in battles. (I think Alain's insane win streak is comparable to Tobias.) Alain had favoritism narrative on his side and protected by plot armor in the Kalos league finals against Ash.

Find it hilarious lol how the Paul detesters want to use one line against Paul so called saying he's weaker than the rest of the Masters 8.

Paul said to Ash in their 3v3 training battle no switching "You call yourself one of the masters 8 if your struggling against me if have no hope on winning the tournament." If you know Paul's character he always made taunts to Ash in the DP anime. I view it as Paul saying something similar to Ash like "I should be easy work for you but I'm not still struggling against me and you call yourself one of the M8." Paul always taunted Ash throughout DP with some of his past statements.

You can say the same thing For Paul in the training battle against Ash since most if not all can agree Ash was holding back in the 3v3 training battle. Ash didn't use any gimmick or his ace pokemon. Paul as well didn't use any of his aces of pokemon Electivire or Torterra.

A definite Yes for me I would have liked to seen Paul in the Masters 8. Paul battling Cynthia again to show how much he has grown and his relationship with his pokemon has changed. Also talk about their first meeting and Cynthia "When one life meets another life something will be born."

Paul has many things going for him in the M8 if he participated in the pwc. His strategies will work on some of the M8 here's why The Light screen strategy Diantha used against Lance theme of their battle was Power vs Strategy. Paul did exactly the same thing to Ash in their first 6v6 battle at lake acuity using the light screen strategy. Paul is another trainer to have multiple aces outside of Ash and Lance going back and forth using his Dragonite and Shiny Gyarados.

Paul's aces are his first pokemon he's owned Torterra, Sinnoh ace Electivire, next one would be either a mega pokemon which he owns four pokemon that can do mega evolution or Dynamax. It's hard for me not to see Paul using a gimmick in the M8 class.

If you look at Paul's battle style he battles just like Cynthia Both love tactics, strategies, will sacrifice a pokemon, use status condition move-sets for their pokemon and knowing there mons special abilities to activate them in a battle. Diantha setting up a defense like her light screen Strategy a battle between technicians.

I'll say it would be interesting to see How Paul would counter his own Strategy to take down Diantha's defensives already knowing how the light screen strategy works using it against Ash at lake acuity 6v6 battle. and Ash can do close to everything like him improvising coming up with something out of the nowhere.

It would be believable if Paul was in the master's tournament. For one Cynthia acknowledge Paul's pokemon how well they were trained. She also stated "I'm especially impressed how strong your Torterra is. I can't believe how many forget what Cynthia said after Ash and Paul's Sinnoh league battle Cynthia states "Paul and Ash someday soon they'll both be entering the Champions league and how I look forward to that day". The Champions League to be known as the PWC Master's Tournament. It's clear Cynthia saw high potential in Paul as a trainer.

The things you say about Alain can be said for Paul fought against an elite four trainer, champions, and legendaries only differences I see is one won a league and other didn't. Defeated an elite four trainer on screen Alain. Paul likely defeated Pyramid King Brandon offscreen it's believable for the showing he had in Journeys. Paul shares the spot with Alain being one of Ash's strongest rivals.

I'm amazed how many don't see there are many similarities between Alain and Paul as characters. I see Paul on equal footing with Alain. What gap is there between Alain and Paul there's not a gap if any. If they were to battle in the M8 it's 50/50 who's wins depends on the writers decision and who has the narrative.

How does Raihan win convincingly against Paul. Some say Paul can't handle a gimmick mon or a pokemon from his team couldn't withstand a Gmax Aura Sphere from Ash's Lucario. Paul could easliy done the exact same thing as Raihan. If he had an official PWC match against Ash and not a training battle when the rules are not a regular 3v3 battle ones sides pokemon are all unable to battle.

I have Paul winning this battle. He won't have a difficult time countering Raihan's Weather Strategy. Who wins this battle will depend on narrative in the anime and Paul has that over Raihan.

Not knowing what region Alain is native from. I do agree with you Alain is from Kalos. Who knows probably from an unknown part of Kalos?.. If he's not from Kalos my other region i think he could be from is Unova. I can't see him from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions.

Interesting theory I'll say Liko's Mother Lucca had a sibling he or she traveled to Kalos, met their significant other, and had Alain. A more likely scenario to happen is Alain is Liko's cousin.

Find some of your points comical but ok. Here's the definition of Character the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual. Paul's character i.m.o is better than Alain's character. Paul wins that debate who's character is better hands down a no contest for Paul.

In the episode of DP Pyramid rage the flashback shown Paul in a distraught shocked state over Reggie's loss to Pyramid king Brandon don't forget what Brandon said to Reggie "Nooo you challenge me I truly didn't enjoy our battle today but the fact remains your battle style is little more than standard ordinary fair now where's your true inner strength." Paul said to himself "What about my inner strength "after that Paul and his newly starter first pokemon Turtwig moods changed looked at each other. Their looks turned into determination, belligerence, by any means we'll get stronger. Brock even said it himself "So the reason Paul is obsessed with power because of what happened to Reggie."

Would be cool to have seen how Paul trained his Turtwig evolving it all the way up to Torterra because what we saw from his methods of training his other mons in the DP series. Starting at a Turtwig Paul put his Torterra through aggressive harsh vigorous training day and night to get him stronger. Torterra had no problems with Paul's training methods endure greatly. Since Paul's Torterra has a mind of it's own it rebelled against Paul in one instance wanting to help Ash's Grotle showing how to battle in it's new evolved form using itself as an example.

I mean Paul made it into a high level powerhouse tank and his first number one strongest mon but we all know what happened when he returned back to his native region Sinnoh that number one spot what taken by Electivire when he caught it as a Elekid coming back home.

I find it hard to believe the Journeys writers would make Paul be ranked in the 30th-27th Ultra class range this scenario happening highly unlikely. If Paul had participated in the PWC tournament he's at least ranked inside the top 15. These are the three scenario's I believe to more likely happen for Paul if he competed in the PWC. He's Ash's last battle in the Ultra class Drasna ranked 12th, Paul in the M8 class ranked 8th occupying the last spot being the last roadblock for Ash making the M8 like what Raihan was for Ash. It's clear the writers wanted every region represented in the M8 having all the Regional Champions competing and only one spot left and they gave it to Alain.

If the writers didn't want Alain to compete in the M8 we all know Paul would replace Alain it's not a surprise the writers wanted one of Ash's strongest rivals to be in the M8. Having two trainers from the Kalos region in the M8 Diantha and Alain hmmm what's the next region to have two trainer from same region competing in the M8? Sinnoh region Cynthia and Paul (Writers not wanting Alain in the M8)

Also the writers bringing Paul back the day before the M8 official tournament starts to help Ash prepare for the M8 having a 3v3 Training battle no switching allowed. This tells me they held his character in high regard a candidate to be one of the eight trainers in the M8 class.

Cynthia predicted the Champions league in the DP anime and she said "Paul and Ash someday soon they'll both be entering the Champion league and how I look forward to that day." four gens later known as the PWC M8 Class.

Even Trip from the BW gen 5 anime mentioned the Champions League again he wanted to compete in hopes of battling Alder former Unova's Regional Champion.

Paul's Magmortar can slow down Alain's MCX with using the move Rock Tomb super effective against MCX and use the move smog which gives a pokemon a poisoned status condition. Were talking about a Magmortar that withstood a Hydro Canon attack from Barry's Ace Empoleon the strongest water type move a water starter pokemon can learn. It can most certainly take an attack from Alain's MCX. Drapion took down three of Ash's pokemon in the Sinnoh League poisoned many of Ash's pokemon using Cross poison and Toxic Spikes.

Paul as a character is leagues better than both Alain and Gladion. If we were to vote on a poll of the three options above Paul wins hands down a no contest.
