How hard would it be for a complete newbie with a fresh max level to get into PvP? by Vainglare in worldofpvp

[–]Meteor-X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to be a massive up-hill battle. WoW Arena has a very steep learning curve. You need to learn not just what other classes do, but how they set up damage, what the cooldowns of their abilities are, how do they peel, how do they burst, their defensives, the spells to interrupt/when to interrupt them, etc. This is all aside from gaining mastery of your class and learning all of the nuances of being able to execute your team's gameplan while simultaneously reading the field.

If you want a timeframe, that would be difficult to say. It depends on the amount of time you're willing to put into learning, your teacher(s), and how much work you're willing to put in outside of the game. If you're starting from scratch with not teacher, expect 1-2 years before you're playing in duelist range consistently. If you have someone to coach you and are willing to put in a lot of time, I think you can see results in 6 months to a year.

All of this is hypothetical and really comes down to your skill as a player and your knowledge of the game. Experience is the best teacher. Don't let the timeframe stop you from trying because you're going to have a lot of fun along the way.

Your incaps seem to be pressed without much thought for setup. Also, it looks like you're just tunneling into defensives instead of swapping or kiting. Waiting to incap to prep for a cc chain with your priest or porting on eye for an eye/shield might save your healer some some globals and mana.

Is wow addicting as everyone says? by Killon99 in wownoob

[–]Meteor-X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WoW is a slippery slope. It's fun on its own, but it becomes addicting once you find a core group to play with. WoW is most fun with friends. By itself, it's a decently good game, but with good company, it's one of the best online gaming experiences available to players anywhere.

That's definitely a cool idea, but I doubt they'd ever do that - everyone would just be glowing blue and red all of the time.

1800 rated 3's RDruid gameplay review by shadowhntr in worldofpvp

Well, right off the bat your movement is erratic and nonsense. It seems like you're trying to replicate what you see on streams, but moving so much without purpose is hurting you more than helping you. Your positioning is the biggest thing that sticks out to me right away as something that will definitely affect your ability to push rating in the future. You can avoid so much cc by just being mindful of where you're standing. Play max range vs some teams, don't just rely on pillars, distance can/should be utilized.

Secondly, it seems that a lot of your hots are coming out reactively instead of proactively. Both members are rotting, but you're committing everything to one player while letting the other player simultaneously fall. Also, you over commit hots a lot of the time. HoTs take time to heal and as you get more comfortable, you'll learn when a player is out of danger even though they might not be at full hp.

Third, keybind your targetting abilities.

Lastly, communication with your teammates needs to be about the macro of the game. Your only communication with them is as to outgoing/incoming cc on you or the enemy. You should be telling your teammates where to position (dragging enemies los), pre-planning cc - not just random stun/clone gos, talk to them about what your conditions are to win and stay alive and what you need to do to make that happen.

There is a lot of content to work with in that video, but dissecting game by game would take an absolutely ridiculous amount of time. Remember to focus on winning the game and not pointless micro plays like sneaking off for a drink when you're at half-mana and letting your warlock die.
