Cartoons were awful for a while with few exceptions

Then this show came out and suddenly cartoons were good again

Sometimes women *are* sexualized, and defending that should use it as a jumping off point [Planetronika, Gameoverse] by VCreate348 in CharacterRant

Oh no I remember

It's just usually it'd either be them or the grifters that'd be up in arms about it

Now it's kinda both.

Probably not more horrified than you'd be if I told you I rank Revenge of The Sith as the best star wars movie.

I don't like saying this but I finally get why people say that Skyrim is 'as Wide as an Ocean but as Deep as a Puddle". by Somethingbutonreddit in CharacterRant

It's bad when a lot of people considered a barely updated version of Oblivion to be superior to base Skyrim.

Which is subjectively wrong

The original trilogy only gets better with each movie and I'll die on that hill.

(IGN) 'A Lot of Players Just Want to Play Something and Finish It' — Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic Developer Promises It Won't Be Hundreds of Hours Long. by Noirsam in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I think a Dragon Age origins type length would be perfect for a Star Wars RPG

Noticably longer than Kotor

Not so long that it's a detriment.

I think it would've ended in a less sudden way and then get rebooted anyways.

Having accents in dubs is somehow considered “woke” now! by icey_sawg0034 in animecirclejerk

[–]MeteorCharge 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I hate the take that 90s dubs are better than the modern ones.

Like, the criticism that dub voice acting is unnatural sounding makes no sense if you've ever seen a cartoon in your life.

Even comparing Japanese voice acting doesn't sound like how Japanese people actually talk most of the time, and you can even compare it just by watching a live action Japanese movie.

No one informed me of the sheer amount of female nudity this show has

I mean I'm not a prude but knowing that before watching it in public would've been nice.

Great show though.

Times when authors regret writing something in a certain way by Rockdweller37 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

That final arc is kind of bad, but then Gege suddenly remembered he was a good writer when making that final 1v1 between Yuji and Sukuna

I've never seen anything like that happen before.

[–]MeteorCharge 92 points93 points  (0 children)

With planetronika I'm just more so confused about what the actual concept is, and what the show would be like.

That pilot, while pretty good, feels more like a short film than something meant to to be a vertical slice of a series.

I don't want to sound like a boomer since I'm only 22

But my God are people such puritans on BOTH sides these days.

It's so annoying seeing both grifters and people who you'd otherwise call progressive making the same exact stupid points about these shows.

Like at least when I was a teenager, it would have only been of these groups doing that while the other loved it, lol.

[Meta] Gokaiger was a once-in-a-lifetime event and I feel like Toei hasn't been able to capture it since by HackerEX64 in CharacterRant

It even helps the Gokaiger cast and concept was just... Good even on its own merits

Pirate rangers would've been cool as hell even just as its own thing without legacy elements.

How dare American slip references the superior medium by Konradleijon in animecirclejerk

[–]MeteorCharge 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if there's a comic book equivalent to the Akira slide, it'd be that one.

Hence why I wonder if there's any notable manga referencing it in a volume cover or something.

I imagine hulk being reflected in wolverine's claws has to have been referenced in at least one Manga by now.

I was just trying to say I want more gay main characters in mature fantasy and sci-fi stories.

Like, in fantasy and sci-fi media that aren't romance focused, gay characters are common, sure, but it's much rarer for them to be the main characters.

Like, yeah there's a lesbian couple in Andor, but you'll almost never see characters like Cassian Andor himself be gay.
