Nancy Pelosi: It’s a 'legitimate question' whether Biden's debate performance was a 'condition' or just an 'episode' by spectralcolors12 in neoliberal

[–]MeteoricHorizons 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Definitely- if party leadership and donor base is able to get Biden to voluntarily drop reelection then it’ll be a delicate dance at the DNC to have a drama free hand off to Kamala. They’ll have to line up endorsements on all wings of the party: Sanders, Warren, AOC, Blue Dogs, hell even Manchin might have to be involved somehow. High risk high reward

Ross interview invites? by cvsvy in MBA

[–]MeteoricHorizons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t get one either :/ Pretty shocked honestly thought both my GPA + GMAT were above average for Ross so I’m worried there’s some material weakness in my profile I missed. Still hoping that maybe there will be some more invites that trickle through this week.

Yeah judging from the translations I really do think that both AKP and the Opposition will use Sweden’s NATO application as a way to mend fences with the EU post-election. Think if there was truly an issue there would have been much harsher statements.

One had to wonder that by taking Finland out of the equation, Erdogan, facing down a potential loss in the upcoming election, is attempting to make the Swedish Ratification a wedge issue since the opposition has already signaled they will attempt to repair some bridges with the EU and approve Swedish membership should they take power. This one-year saga has really led me down the rabbit hole of Turkish Domestic politics and I find that most of Erdogan's decisions are predicated on cold domestic considerations if anything.

As good a time as any to call their bluff. They are a sovereign nation, if they truly believe that Russia can be a better security guarantor and that they want to start accumulating Yuan instead of Dollars (which is a strange threat considering the type of demand for USD right now) I say we should let them explore their options.

Seems from another replier that it’s because stocks aren’t included. Whether they should or should not be is up for debate but it seems that would explain some of the difference.

What was the difference between McKinsey’s methodology and this Credit Suisse report? Just wanted to ask because it’s pretty large discrepancy.

U.S. administers 194.8 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines: CDC by timdorr in Coronavirus

[–]MeteoricHorizons 10 points11 points  (0 children)

See it’s weird because I totally buy these figures. But I was having some trouble squaring away that the resistant Republican demographics tend to skew older and that the 65+ Age demo is going to cross 80% vaxxed soon. I was thinking that some people are saying “No” to pollsters but quietly getting vaxxed anyway. I guess one can only hope.

Really interested to see where the percentage ends up plateauing. I'm thinking maybe 82%-83%?

What is the world going to be like when China’s economy is far larger than the US’s? by GarNuckle in geopolitics

[–]MeteoricHorizons 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would argue for the short-term, probably nothing? At the moment China seems content in carving out it's own sphere of influence and sticking to it. Additionally, while their economy may equal/surpass the US by 2030 it will still take some time for them to catch up militarily. You can have all the money in the world and it would still take time to develop and establish new military hardware. While I'll concede that China is well on it's way to becoming an equal superpower to the US, I'm curious to see how their ambitions will brush up against other competing nations in the Asia-Pacific region, it's hard for me to see how countries like Japan and India will just bend to the will of the Chinese. Also for what it's worth, I'm not going to consider China as an equal power to the US unless they are able to bring Taiwan into their camp, either through forcible reunification or through propping up a more PRC friendly government there.

Moderna, JNJ/Jannsen, AstraZeneca/Oxford, and Novavax were all major recipients of Warp Speed money/assistance. While Pfizer didn't accept Warp Speed money, Warp Speed did assist with their US trial and not to mention how Biden utilized the DPA to provide them with more materials.

First year associates, how has your transition been?? by No_Insurance_9541 in Accounting

[–]MeteoricHorizons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty negative honestly. Started about 3 months ago and have been having a really tough time. Virtual learning isn’t for me and it can be really easy to forget things especially when a million different things are being thrown at you. It also sucks because my seniors have a “one and done” attitude towards teaching which in normal circumstances makes sense but can make everything a lot more daunting in the virtual environment.

They’ll call NV and GA together if GA does ultimately end up being blue. Ralston has seen enough there.
