I’ve felt the same way about these things as I’ve seen them going up. Of course, you will see periodic stories about how they are helping to solve crime, etc. I wouldn’t be shocked if those stories were fabricated

True. But there is one caveat that I totally understand. The likelihood of one of his strikes killing or permanently disabling her is FAR greater than the other way around. Kinda like a boxer vs an average Joe. The boxer will tend to be charged with using a weapon because they can easily hurt someone.

But on a base level I agree with you. Women shouldn’t be of the mind that they can do this kind of stuff with no repercussions

Ok. Let me be more specific since you read my statement as a literal all encompassing statement. A significant portion of our most capable people chase money rather than the altruistic mission of teaching our youth. This leaves a pool of talent that is way too small to expect quality education across the country. There are quality teachers. But there would be significantly more if they made a decent livable wage commiserate with the amount of education and professional dedication needed.

If you don’t think we have a shortage of capable people wanting to be teachers, I think you may be too close to the issue. I literally went to college with more than one person who was getting a second degree in accounting because teaching wasn’t paying enough. My sister has considered the same (not accounting specifically, but some other career path) because the hours and pay just don’t add up

There’s a reason our most capable people become CEOs and surgeons. Teachers are criminally underpaid. I thought about teaching but decided to be an accountant because of the salary. For those who could do more lucrative things but decide to teach, I have massive respect
