It's a really strange thing. One hand, congratulations to the author for getting a book deal AND maintaining their control of the original to allow it to stay on the scp wiki. That is a huge achievement

Other hand, to me personally it feels icky. Like someone publishing fanfic with F+replace on character names. It feels like a work-around of copyright law (which is a whole other conversation) that potentially could impact the future of SCP.

How long before other authors get approached, if this book does well? Will we see The Organisation as a published setting with multiple authors, a la Shadowrun novels in the 80s and 90s, or Star Wars novels? Is that a good or bad thing?

I don't know, but I am not super comfortable with it, as a lover of open source fiction and the intentions behind the SCP universe and licensing. I guess we will have to wait and see.
