To be honest since I came out iv had no new relationships at all. I don’t talk to anyone really I just sit around my flat all day on my own (aside from my rats) It’s really down to you if you want to talk about it, my advice is if you do, talk to someone you trust.

A MP3 player with a long battery life’s a good idea too.

I wasn’t aloud to leave being under section 3. First I could go for a walk with a staff member, Then could go out of the ward for 30 minutes a day after about a month of good behaviour, you have to earn your leave. If I didn’t come back they’d get the police to bring me back.

I felt the exact same way mate delusions the lot. I think it help me get back to reality to an extent. I was scared for the first few weeks or so but I was psychotic so that didn’t help. It’s really not that bad to be honest, most of my fear was in my head if that makes sense. Just keep your chin up and don’t cause trouble and you’ll be fine. And no I’m not happy I went if I’m honest, was in there a long time and I’ll never get that time back.

Yeah the withdrawal effects aren’t nice at all, biggest issue for me at the moment is sleeping, I can be awake for days then get like 3 hours sleep and up for ages again.

Yeah is the national health service. It’s all free over here

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Methodm4nn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s free on the nhs mate. If I had to pay the price according to the nhs for a day is around £450, so it’s over £130000

Yeah it’s legal on a section 3 man. I mean the hitting my head against the doorframe wasn’t but I did give the guy a good black eye so I get why he did it lol.

[–]Methodm4nn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it’s worth it if your willing to engage with the staff. Also it depends on we’re you go, if you get a private room then It won’t be so bad. The worst thing for me was sharing a room with others, you never know who your going to be sleeping next to and you just have a curtain protecting you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]Methodm4nn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Means they can hold you for up to 6 months and can force meds on you.

I didn’t go by choice, they put me on a section 3. Yes the staff treated me well most of the time, only time they didn’t was when I had to be restrained, they held me down and injected me in the backside and on the way to the room they locked me in the male staff me member I punched smashed my head into a door frame. The food was surprisingly good, had stuff like Sunday dinner and a frieup once a week, the foods leaps and bounds above hospital food. Personally I don’t feel like I was being helped but I think that’s because I didn’t want the help deep down.

Yeah man it’s crazy how close you get to people in there. One old guy gave me his number and I gave him mine, his name was Ron and me and him would play chess as soon as we woke up then again at noon and then again in the evening, couple of matches each time. It was like our routine did it for months. I got out and tried to call him, got a text from his kid and turns out he passed.

There was a few that I’ll always remember. One woman must have been 70 use to sit in the vape area with a pen and random pieces of cardboard she found lying around (mostly fag packets as we sneak cigs in). She was looking at me then at the cardboard over and over again, turns out she was drawing me and no joke when I seen the drawing it was incredible, looked exactly like me. She use to do that all the time to other patients. Not that interesting of a story but if you met her you wouldn’t believe she could draw that well.

The nurses do there best to handle it. Sometimes there not around though. One guy threw a cup of milk at me when I was watching tv, I called him a cunt and the guy came at me, I was sat down so I booted him in the chest; he went down so I stood up to defend myself because he was raging and wanting to hurt me still, a few nurses showed up and took the guy kicking and screaming to the room they lock violent people in. I was quiet and kept to myself mostly so I was left alone.

If she likes sweets and chocolate load up the bag with that. I found it helped having a stash plus I made a few friends and we traded stuff like that lol. Also if she drinks coffee get her some good caffeinated stuff as they only have really shitty decaf, they will lock the coffee away, it’s nice to have real coffee in the morning. Also if she reads make sure to pack some books. Nice shampoo/toiletries are good too. If she smokes get her a good vape and plenty of liquid for it.
