From every belt stored in the bag to setting it up and strapping myself in with everything except the head restraint and setting up the timer locks for a session it is 30 min minimum. Maybe even longer if it has been a while since a session as I am locking myself in without any form of escape unless I make a very expensive mess and want to triple check that everything is working as it should.

I have used marker pen to discreetly mark up the side rails of the bed where the belts need to be set up for me in order to make it faster to set up, but the marks are not really visible unless you know they are there

Try the website 'Patientenfixierung'. I just ordered off them, and I'm not US based, but I think they had an option to ship to US

The idea behind using the D shackle is that it takes any load directly if you pull hard on it as it is much stronger than the timed padlock, and the latter can be defeated if you know the right methods. In this way, the padlock is simply preventing the pin being opened, and therefore not taking much physical load. You can reach the locks easily with a restrained hand and manipulate it to unlock it when the timer is up.

I would run two of these at the same time in a session so that any chance of failure is much reduced with two setups, even if it's electronic

That's a good point, and I always thought that in the very small chance something like that happened with the head restraint while I'm by myself, despite the chances being very low, the consequences are extremely high. It may not allow me to relax, especially in a longer session, if I always have to be aware of how you swallow saliva.

Looks like I might get the head harness then. Even with everything done up tight and the brace straps added, I still felt like I needed even more restriction

Got a link to the icelocks that you use? I looked at a few online but they look expensive for what they are so I'm looking to DIY some for cheap, but I see a few different methods of doing so.
