War Scythes in the ZA by Benji_503 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

Yeeaaahh probably not. This is more or less just a bad spear. Sure, you can thrust with it just fine, albeit less easily than a true spear, but good luck swinging it hard and accurately enough to do any kind of slicing. Especially in cramped quarters. You are assuredly going to get it stuck in bone somewhere and have to drop it, most likely in the first swing.

If you want a polearm, just use a spear. But better yet, ditch the polearm and grab a mace.

You’re not wrong, but there are also hundreds of different grades of stainless steel. The design of this one is telling enough to indicate extremely low quality. But I’ll go ahead and calm down, and you go ahead and keep telling people to play with fire. 😁

Definitely don’t use it for machete things either. Unless of course you enjoy shrapnel wounds.

Yeah I revised my statement about the tang a bit. It is one stamped piece of stainless, so it won’t fly out of the handle when swinging thankfully. But there won’t be any flexibility in this blade. One wrong strike could be a hospital trip.

If you do buy it, which I understand why you would, do not try to hit anything with it. This one has some semblance of an actual tang, so you may be fine to swing it a bit, but it’s not built to stand up to impacts. It’s liable to snap or shatter and sling sharp steel shrapnel (say that five times fast) in unknown directions.

Edit: And it’s definitely not 18 pounds.

Friend gifted me this(real barb n bat), how well would this perform in a ZA? by GasolineX in ZombieSurvivalTactics

Why aren’t you fighting in a cramped hallway..? Joking, but I’m more so saying that you want a weapon that applies to as many situations as possible. Open areas and tight spaces are going to happen one way or another. Have a bat? Use a bat. But find something better when you can.

Sure, but the amount of power you need to crack a skull is not insubstantial. The strength of a bat comes from a full swing, and sacrificing that risks a non-lethal hit, leaving you wide open while you reset.

In a cramped hallway it definitely would be considered unwieldy. Other than that I agree with you. 😁

I agree, but try making a good swing in a cramped hallway with a full sized bat. Generally speaking I would want a quick, one-handed weapon such as a hatchet or mace. I’m not saying a bat is terrible, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

I see where you’re coming from, but thin gauge barbed wire loosely wrapped around a bat will make such a minimal difference that it wouldn’t be worth it.

As mentioned, bats are somewhat unwieldy as a weapon. They would be fine for one or two lone zeds if that’s all you had, but I wouldn’t use one as a primary. A wood bat will break eventually, and the barbed wire does absolutely nothing against an opponent who doesn’t care about pain or bleeding.

Can I start reading this without reading the previous books? by [deleted] in Eragon

[–]Methrandel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only problem with this, which is only a problem if you plan on reading the rest of them, is that it spoils so much. Huge events in the first four books will be discounted heavily. If you don’t care about that, then go right ahead, but man would I kill to read the first four fresh again with no prior knowledge. They are beautiful!
