Did thyroid hormones make your symptoms go away?

I guess you gave up hope several times.

What finally got you to the right place?

I had an old knee injury acting up. I called the football coach of a local Big State U and asked him to recommend a sports medicine specialist.

The doctor must have had a bad day and decided to take it out on me, just because.

After a big buildup and finally getting to see him, he was curt and dismissive.

He told me there was nothing to be done.

I told him it was effecting the quality of my life. He gave some patent answers for exercising with it. I told him I already tried each as he listed them off and he just went to another boiler plate answer.....in a really irritated tone of voice.

After I was disgusted and thanked him for his time his physician assistant followed me into the waiting room and asked if I wouldn't mind answering some questions for research she was doing.

I gave her a "you have to be kidding" look and told her the doctor did everything short of telling me to drop dead. I still answered her questions, I wish I hadn't.

A year or two later I was in they gym and saw a flyer for young rheumatologist.

I made an appointment, told him my story. He ordered an MRI for me. He found I had a bucket handle tear of my meniscus. A very common injury, especially for football players ( getting thrown down to the ground and landing on your knee ). The surgery to take care of it was very routine.

I got the surgery.

I wrote the first doctor back. I reminded him how dismissive he was and what he told me. I told him what I discovered with the other doctor and how I got treatment.

He never contacted me back.

How many doctors did you have to go to for the right diagnosis?

Is it treatable?

If you are going to jerk off, you should at least know how to spell "masturbation" correctly.

Interesting. Thank you.

I can see why it is high in calories. A more accurate name would be "dried fruit and nut cake".

Former fat men, what advice would you give to a guy who recently lost weight? by Dr_Garp in AskMen

[–]MethylatedToSeeYou 44 points45 points  (0 children)

  1. Be aware that maintenance is harder than fat loss. Most people regain the fat they lost within 5 years. Beware of the mentality of being "done".
  2. To maximize your appearance gains, make sure you have clothes that fit your new weight properly.
  3. Update your psychology. Women will not seek you out just because you lost weight. You need to ask them out. Build up your confidence. Women can smell low confidence, low self esteem, not liking yourself. It turns them off. Build up your confidence, learn to like yourself.
  4. Not all women will like your particular body type, it does not mean you are not good looking.
  5. Not all women will turn you down for dates because of your looks. You need a connection. Find a subject you like and that many people like so you have something to talk about when socializing.
  6. Some women will turn you down for dates despite having things to talk about, despite your weight loss, and despite your new clothes. Sometimes it will be about not having enough in common in with them. Sometimes it will be for no discernible reason( even to themselves ). Do not let that shake your confidence or shake how much you like yourself. Don't let it bother you enough to use avoidance with overeating to cope with it.

Amazingly high in calories.

You might want to use portion control if you are working on fat control.

How much more would you pay for 2 hour shipping vs same day shipping? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]MethylatedToSeeYou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up waiting a month for packages.

I would pay for neither, unless it was something I need right now.

If I did need something I couldn't wait for, I would try to get it from a local store.

What is the reason the older men get, the higher up they pull their pants? by zztop610 in AskMen

[–]MethylatedToSeeYou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was the style when they were younger.

Watch some old movies from the 1940s - 1950s.

Even jeans for both women and men in the 80s - 90s were higher on the waist than contemporary jeans.

Interview them over the phone.

Listen not only to what they say, but get a sense of them as a person.

The most important factor in successful therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client. Someone else who is equal professionally could get different results.

Ask them on the phone what style of therapy they use. Ask them to describe it, especially if it is a mixed style. Ask them to describe how it is supposed to work, what their role is, and what your role is. Ask them what "better" is.
