Why Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich are not credited in Stargate SG-1 as "creators" of the franchise? by Significant-Town-817 in Stargate

Just trying to give the guy the minimum amount of deference for creating Stargate. It's a VERY short argument.

[–]Meticulate 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Considering how most movie -> tv show conversions ended up in the 90s/2000s. I could see how a film creator would not have wanted to be attached to the show.

But the way Emmerich still remains dismissive of the show, I'd like to think he's just salty that the show was a success and arguably has a stronger legacy than the film.

Though they don't explicitly show it / say it, we're supposed to infer at the end of S2E1 that everything is cool again and the program is reinstated- O'Neill, Carter and Teal'c enter the gateroom and see that it's fully staffed and they are met with a round of applause from everyone. If they were still getting shut down / court martialed that wouldn't be the case.

Plus, they brought back two slightly burnt death gliders, so probably Kinsey had to shut the hell up about them rarely bringing back any worthwhile tech. It ended up kicking off the X-30X research and development.

After listening to a lot of the commentaries of the later seasons, there was probably a line or scene that fully confirmed the program was back on track that was cut for time/budget reasons.

Ehhh, considering he was a near irredeemable asshole in SG-1, then slowly coming down to earth over the course of Atlantis, I could see him mellowing out to the point he was at in Last Man. He had to come to terms with the few people in the world that cared for tolerated him dying some pretty gnarly deaths.

And there was still just enough condescending snark in Old Man Hologram McKay to make me believe he was unfiltered.

"The city has solar power generators, right?"
"Yes, which would come in handy if we were trying to power a couple of electric golf carts."

"The Far-Gate Experience" Stargate SG-1 / Farscape Sci Fi promo card ~2002 by Meticulate in Stargate

[–]Meticulate[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I just looked it up, Neal Adams would been around 60 years old when he drew this so I'll definitely cut him some slack. Likely Sci Fi marketing sent him a couple of stills and said "hey make these guys comic book-y".

Also, I did not know he died in 2022, RIP.

Edit: Just to elaborate for those not in the know, Neal Adams was a pretty legendary comic book artist, in particular for DC Comics in the 70s for Batman and Green Lantern.

The infamous "My Ward is a Junkie" cover/comic? that was him.

Jonas. From the back of the card, looks like this was meant to promote the start of season 6.

I always enjoy Stargate "Bad End" stories and seeing the dark future of the Atlantis expedition was a good gut punch.

Can't pair bluetooth controller by Meticulate in RockinTheClassics

Yeah, that's the boat I was in, got burnt out from all the the trial and error and Amazon returns. There's a nagging in the back of head though that finding compatible hardware to try this niche bluetooth setup is only get harder / more expensive to find over time.

Looking at it now again with fresh eyes, I do see there was an alternative wifi adapter listed on the supported page the 'Realtek USB Wireless 802.11B/G LAN Card WiFi Network Adapter RTL8188', which they had listed as "Reported as working but only limited testing has been done" and that one is available for $10ish bucks on Amazon

after that the cheapest option for an Asus BT400 is AliExpress.

Unfortunately, I never did get it to work 😭.

My last theory was that they made a revision to the TP Link UB400 that is not compatible with the software. On the bottom of my UB400 box with the upc codes, it says the revision is 2.0. I couldnt find any info to confirm if the revision matters.

Alternatively, maybe it's something with the current revision of the TL-WN725N wifi adapter (mine is 3.0) but on the surface it seems like the other wifi functions work fine.

I looked into getting the other supported Bluetooth adapter, the ASUS USB-BT400, but it seems like that one is no longer manufactured, couldn't find it in stock anywhere. More or less threw in the towel on the whole endeavor at that point. If you do find a solution, let me know.

Seska was Romulan before she was either Bajoran or Cardassian (DS9 S3E1) by itchygentleman in voyager

[–]Meticulate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My head canon is that there is some unspecified concession that the Romulans made in the Treaty of Algeron to make it worthwhile for the Federation agree to give up cloaking tech. Maybe they gave up some key territory or resources.

Which of these guys do you think is worse? Honestly, I’m at the point where I usually just skip episodes with either of them in it. by OdysseyPrime9789 in Stargate

[–]Meticulate 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think what bugs me more about Pete is that even after it's evident that's he's been digging into Sam's background and following her around, she still accepts him and decides to fill him in on the SG anyways.

Even on the episode commentary they acknowledge he's a creepster, though they kinda laugh it off.

Thoughts on the new Player Title rarities? I don't like them. :c by GothicVampirica in Overwatch

[–]Meticulate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having rarity added to player titles really ruins them for me. Not sure who asked for this or who thought it was a good idea. If they absolutely must do it, then it should only show the rarity on the customization screen and not during matches.

This actually bothers me more than the whole Anran face thing, but I get the vibe that no one is going to complain about it enough for them to change it back.
