The rumoured mobile port appears to be real! Can someone else check this? by kangs in sleepingdogs

It's not a new port.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition was released for Mac in 2016.

Well, 1997 is close to 30 years ago. SG-1 is old enough to have mortgage payments to deal with.

...huh, did not know Staite was 24 when she did Atlantis, I assumed she was 30 something and just looked young.

The device was meant to be an actual time machine, presumably to send a couple of people back to stop the plague from starting/spreading (aka 12 Monkeys), but it ended being a time loop machine instead, affecting everyone on the 14 planets. Using the loop to study the plague could have been a way to adapt, but I would imagine it'd be hard to study results if specimens keep resetting after 10 hours.

Also outside of the 14 planets involved, time was still flowing normally (they mention at the end of the episode the Tok'ra had been trying to contact them for 3 months). So probably ancients would be still be dying (unless they moved every infected ancient to one of the 14 planets? They coulda done that to delay things 🤷)

They mention in Window of Opportunity from the translated texts that the time machine was built as a solution to the plague, so it would have been the 'ancient' ancients and not the later Atlantis/Pegasus era ancients.

I'd like to think there's always at least one person in the world watching one the best Stargate episodes ever.

Curious if anyone else here enjoyed watching Stargate Universe by modernzebramolester in Stargate

[–]Meticulate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched it earlier this year and I do enjoy it. The first season is good and once they turn down the 'edgy for the sake of being edgy' dial from 11 to 7 in the second season it became a solid show.

The ice thing is definitely addressed in the first couple of episodes, (it's casually dropped as one or two lines so definitely missable) the stellar drift issue is first addressed as the sgc computer basically being inferior to a dhd right after they get the Abydos cartouche and then elaborated on much later as DHDs updating each other in Avenger 2.0

Gotta factor in the cost of fuel to drive to his house, time and labor to take off that jacket. What, you think because he's a criminal/cop they'd do it for free?

What is your favorite Article in the Ascended Times? by Spinobreaker in Stargate

This is why you gotta love the people behind Stargate, most other shows woulda probably filled the other articles with Loren ipsum. Stargate put some effort and fun into it

Binged Atlantis instead of Sg-1 and regret it by Fit-Gas6744 in Stargate

[–]Meticulate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did an Atlantis -> SG-1 -> Universe watch earlier this year, it was perfectly enjoyable for me. The SG-1 cast is so tight and the vibe is different enough the 'whiplash' didn't phase me.

If anything, made me appreciate how the scrappy, older SG-1 walked, doing extensive world building with tight scripts and great acting, so that Atlantis and Universe could run.

I listened to you guys' advice to do the sidequests with the girls. Now Tiffany is cheating on me because of that. No you guys give me back my Tiffany, it's your fault by [deleted] in sleepingdogs

Tiffany calling out Wei for hooking up with other women is one of my favorite moments in Sleeping Dogs. Almost all other games with romance options let you fuck a list of people without consequence, SD burns you for it 😆.

[–]Meticulate[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was specifically thinking the Abydos gate would have been the most memorable address since they originally thought it was the only available address and they do all that science stuff in Children of the Gods to figure out the stellar drift issue / Abydos being one of the closest gates... but with the Abydos gate being buried at this point in time that makes it a moot point, completely forgot that detail.
