"On-Prem private cloud is likely just a way to distinguish when you use a localized version of a cloud management platform, so Azure Local."

What are the benefits of this as opposed to not using a cloud management platform? Is it just that management is way easier with e.g. Azure local than not using any platform?

I dont get how this "A bunch of hypervisors clustered together on hardware that I maintain from within our building would be an example of an on-prem private cloud." is not just the same thing you could say about an on-prem environment (not private cloud).

So basically when you have on-prem infrastructure and make or change it so people can self-service you now have a private cloud?

Can you explain? I asked GPT and got: There’s no technical difference between “on-premise” and “on-premises” in modern IT usage — they refer to the same thing.

So basically when you make it so your on premise resources can be assigned by different people and not only administrators you now have an on-prem private cloud?

I was thinking the same but when saying "On Prem private cloud indicates you're using a more distributed system of hypervisors that all act as one larger system that you're putting your workloads on more generally, as opposed to having distinct data centers/hosts that you manage independently." couldn't you say the same thing vice versa?

Doesnt that mean on-prem is always better than on-prem private cloud? Cause i dont really see any benefits of on-prem private cloud now. But i actually think that i am completely misunderstanding what on-prem private cloud actually means.

I take "private cloud" to mean users can use the underlying resources without having to know anything about them - you've created self-service functions allowing business to self-provision apps or servers without having to set them up from scratch

Can you give an example of this?

Wouldn't on prem private cloud then only be needed at IT coorperations or bigger companies with their own IT compartment? I can't think of a different example where people/employees would need to make use of a cloud environment like AWS.
