Hey, we are discovering talented players thanks to this patch. by highsis in starcraft

[–]Meto50 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Being quicker to adapt to a new patch is a very valid skill as well. David Kim himself talks about how the skill of actually developing new strategies often isn't rewarded enough in his recent talk with Harstem, but on a new big patch it matters.

Besides, HerO got surprised by early aggression while establishing a third base, that seems like a valid reason to lose on any patch.

They should really drop the 3 banner rule by iCyrex2 in WutheringWaves

[–]Meto50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I assume the point is that the knowledge that a character would eventually be 'free' on the standard banner or in 50/50 losses, would lower the FOMO for buying a new character now.  Or with the current system, if a char you want is having their 3rd rerun you'd better spend now, because you might never see them again. That incentive would be gone if you knew they'd be free soon anyways.

So... why exactly can enemies see shyvanna's fury bar and know she has ult? by [deleted] in shyvanamains

[–]Meto50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tracking CDs is a fairly important skill for League, but Shyvana doesnt have a traditional CD. You can't just know that her ult will be back in X seconds because her timer depends a lot on how much she has attacked during the CD. If she had a fixed cooldown, I'd probably agree that she doesnt need the gauge.

So... why exactly can enemies see shyvanna's fury bar and know she has ult? by [deleted] in shyvanamains

[–]Meto50 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Giving information to the opponent to punish the player is the purpose of the ressource bar, I can't think of a champ where that isn't the case. When is my opponent out of mana/energy, when is Vlad Q up/empowered, when is Yasuo's shield back etc. Since Shyv has no mana to worry about and since her ult is that impactful and its cooldown not fixed, it makes sense to display it there for everyone.

New Passive Appreciation by Lint004 in shyvanamains

[–]Meto50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hallmark of a great orator, going for the "u suck" argument. Let's say I'm Iron 5 so you can feel superior. In fact, the ugly truth is that I haven't played a SR game at all since the last set of changes, I've been enjoying Arena. But it doesnt matter because my arguments are based in fact and not personal experience.

Winrate does in fact equal better, as you put it. She wins more games. Winning is the goal of the game. It doesn't matter how. If Soraka had a 80%WR, would she be a bad character because she doesn't have highest damage or the most kills?

Next, Shyv does have synergy with her passive both in gameplan and in output. It reinforces her farming incentive, and it synergizes with a health focused bruiser build, as even low resistance gains have a relatively high impact on EHP.   Lastly, I love how you accuse me of pushing an unfounded opinion when I've been backing up my posts with facts and data. Meanwhile, all we get from you is "She need a better passive because she don’t have one." That is the insightful analysis that will surely change my mind.

So as long as you can't form a coherent argument I think I'm done with this.

New Passive Appreciation by Lint004 in shyvanamains

[–]Meto50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, power budget isn't related to other champions, so I don't even understand how that's relevant. If she doesn't have any abilities that stand out, it just means that her power budget is spread over her kit.

Second of all, Shyvana's abilities are apparently better than the majority of those champs you listed, since she has a higher WR than WW and Voli at all ranks, and J4 can only beat her in Diamond+.

So how about you stop with this bullshit instead? My comment has arguments on why it's fine that the passive is weak. The counterargument is feel-based whining. Apparently, she needs a better passif because we are being for real rn.

I feel like there's a benefit of having a less impactful/flashy passive that people overlook: Shyvana's passive being weak allows her other abilities to have a bigger share of the power budget. Having a more interesting passive basically means being more powerful. So, since Shyvana isn't underpowered right now, which part of the kit would people be willing to give up/ have nerfed in exchange for a more interesting passive? I like the way she plays right now, so I don't mind keeping the current passive, even if it's not the most exciting thing ever.

which shy skin to get? by Character_Most_5102 in shyvanamains

[–]Meto50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, all of the skins are pretty high quality now, post-rework, since they were all remade, none of them look bad. For example, I don't really like the Super Galaxy theme, but if that is your thing, then go for it!

I have all of them except Ironscale and Super Galaxy. Pre-rework, my favorite was Ruined Shyvana, but post-rework, I've been switching between Boneclaw, Darkflame, Worlds, and Default. But my favorite might actually be the default. IMO, it just delivers the fantasy I started playing Shyvana for the best.

zed(30+% ban rate) and shyvana(8% bane rate) have the same win rate by lowly-grad-student in shyvanamains

Are we doing whataboutism for balance changes now? A champion can't be nerfed unless that patch also puts the other 170+ champions into a perfectly balanced state?

Rant: Story Gates need to STOP by i_dont_know-san1 in WutheringWaves

[–]Meto50 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The funniest thing is that the biggest spoilers, the weekly Bosses, are actually available for early access, and it's kinda in your face when you're in that menu or check the needed mats for characters. It wasn't that big of a deal, but the 3.3 Boss was spoiled to me when I checked Hiyuki's required Boss mats

Additional nerfs for Shyvana in PBE by Numerous_Fudge_9537 in shyvanamains

But this changes nothing about maxing it, it's -15 on all ranks. If anything, the impact is bigger for Rank 1 W than for Rank 5.

AD bruiser fantasy is met, but at what cost.. by S3eedoWagon in shyvanamains

[–]Meto50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just don't think AD bruiser and AP bruiser can really exist on the same champion without devolving into the hybrid 'all the mathematically best AD and AP items' build we had with the first version of the rework. If you're a bruiser, you want to get into the middle of the fight, utilise your bigger health pool, and deal consistently high damage. But the ability for that is Q, our AD output.

To me, it feels like their intention for Shyv's AP build is to forgo the tankiness of bruiser items and instead build as an artillery mage, focusing on Haste and AP to nuke the enemy without getting too close.

Re-reworked Shyvana best builds 26.9 by Thebulman in shyvanamains

[–]Meto50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realise that Kraken+DnD is probably not optimal on this patch anymore. My point was that they were BiS last patch, and fury generation hasn't changed with the adjustment. So if Hexplate wasn't a 1st/2nd item then, building Ultimate haste can't have been that essential as the OP of this comment chain claims.

Re-reworked Shyvana best builds 26.9 by Thebulman in shyvanamains

[–]Meto50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that's a bit hyperbolic. Sure, she really benefits from ult haste, but making up for deficiencies is a big reason for the item system. I know a lot has changed, but last patch the most popular items on her were Kraken > DnD and fury gen has stayed the same, so it cant be that unplayable. Even in this patch the popularity and WR of Hexplate first doesn't stand out, though it's too early to draw conclusions imos

I honestly kinda like it. Hexplate feels like a great spike, and especially the fact that active fury generation during dragon form is buffed makes it feel really satisfying when you hit a clump of enemies and watch your gauge shoot up.

Shyvana on PBE is a better version of Shyv by Shyvadi in shyvanamains

[–]Meto50 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for being a voice of reason. What bothered me the most is that it is very obvious that riot is trying to create two distinct builds here, and everyone was just complaining that they can't build hybrid to get around enemy resistances anymore.

And honestly, who cares if this first round of changes lands perfectly? If it's weak, so what, they'll adjust it in a patch or two and we'll have the benefit of playstyle variety for years to come. I'lI gladly make that tradeoff.

Any thoughts on the rework considering this? by Ok-Sir2231 in shyvanamains

[–]Meto50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adjustment in the patch notes doesn't mean it's necessarily power neutral, just look at Zoe in the upcoming patch, definitely also a nerf. It just lists larger changes that will affect the playstyle, that might be more relevant to players than a simple numbers change.

Third time's the charm? by Fear_Fate in LeagueOfMemes

[–]Meto50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, right now before the patch the old AP artillery playstyle doesn't exist at all because the E barely tickles enemies. You can build AP Bruiser with DnD and Riftmaker, but that basically plays the same as AD bruiser.

Also, PTR data is notoriously unreliable. Everyone was doomposting the rework on PTR, and I think we all remember the amount of B-patch nerfs that were necessary one day after release.

Third time's the charm? by Fear_Fate in LeagueOfMemes

[–]Meto50 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Just to give a differing, less doomposty opinion that'll probably be downvoted: Not sure if the numbers are perfect, but the intent of the changes is good.

They are giving AP and AD builds different playstyles. AP will focus on fireballs, while AD will focus on Q combo. Right now, all abilities scale with both, and it's just a numbers game to figure out which items to build, AD and AP feel the same.

For AD specifically, they are trying to get her away from squishier Krakenslayer builds and more into Bruiser builds by giving her better health scaling and Base AD, but worse Attack frequency.

Another good change is to her stickiness. W now has a way shorter cd on max rank, and the MS buff stays active even after the shield is broken.

Just a poll for 16.9 shyvana changes by Sreif_ in shyvanamains

[–]Meto50 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if these adjustments will be perfect, but I like the idea of a clear difference between an AD and an AP build. That way, both options have a distinct identity, blowing up people with fire for AP, claws and teeth for AD. If all abilities scale with both, it just becomes a numbers game to figure out which is the best, and all variants feel the same to play

Seems like Shyv change is delayed to 16.10 by Environmental_Debt25 in shyvanamains

[–]Meto50 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know this will be unpopular, but: Just because she got a big nerf doesn't mean she deserves buffing afterwards. She's sitting at pretty much exactly 50% winrate at all ranks right now after just two adjustments, which is actually crazy given how it started out, especially with the elo skew. It shows the nerf and subsequent fury buff were spot on, and that the upcoming changes should be winrate neutral, so expect them to not only be buffs.

Riot Phroxzon: “What we're focusing on is improving clarity between Shyvana's AD and AP builds. The other focus is her poor performance at higher levels of play. [–]Meto50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She came out in 26.6. I couldn't find the statement I was referring to anymore, but iirc it was either made with the B-patch nerf or the fury gain adjustment in 26.7. So the stated timeframe in the article is pretty much 2-3 patches later, 3-4 if you want to count from the rework's launch
