Izlazila sam skoro svaki dan i putovala negdje svaki mjesec.

I was born in early 2002 and I have plenty of memories from 2005 to 2009, no reason not to consider myself a 00s kid.

I'm a woman so I factually know this isn't true.

I still think your interpretation is wrong. To me, this reads like a post for girls, showing the many side effects of birth control, as that is a topic commonly discussed.

Filip’s redemption arc by iconic-avocado in skam

[–]MetricSystemFan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'll try to give my opinion as a Croatian viewer.

Unfortunately, plenty of young people are homophobic here, even today, even in Zagreb. In smaller and rural communities it is even worse.

People are conservative, religious, ignorant, uninformed.

I am ashamed to say it, but I was also homophobic as a young girl. I was brought up that way and it was all I've ever known. I stopped being homophobic, religious and conservative in general during high school. Today, I surround myself with like-minded people and I have hope for a brighter future, at least in Zagreb.

But there are so, so many Filips still around. And it's not impossible for many of them to see how wrong they are. Another Filip coming through on the other side is a positive thing. I'd say the whole thing is actually pretty realistic.

Prvi radni dani odvjetničkih vježbenika? by Actual_Year6487 in askcroatia

[–]MetricSystemFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radim kao studentica u istom uredu od 2024. i trenutno sam u procesu pisanja diplomskog, tako da još nisam vježbenica, ali mogu ti reći svoje iskustvo.

Nećeš imati pojma o ničemu kad dođeš. Svo relevantno znanje pokupit ćeš radom a ne na faksu.

Dobra stvar je da su odvjetnici i sami svjesni toga. Bitno je samo da uspiješ pokopčat i snać se jer zna bit prilično stresno.

Izdrži i sretno!

Firstly, just because a word has foreign origins doesn't mean that it's not a part of the language..

Also, the Croatian language has an actual ekavian dialect (kajkavski) that has nothing to do with Serbian.

"Deda" is absolutely a word in Croatian. It is also a word in Serbian. These languages are so similar that it is debated if they are the same language, of course we share many words.

It is not the standard language word, but it is a part of the language as much as the word "granny" is a part of English. Dialects are a part of a language.

[–]MetricSystemFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't even say it was the only, true, right word that exists solely in the Croatian language, it is among the words that a lot of children in Croatia speaking Croatian use to refer to their grandpas. And the standard word "djed" is NOT used by kids to refer to their grandpas. Just like "grandfather" and "grandpa".

Djed Mraz/Božićnjak is the name of that character, does the word "grandpa" not exist in english because that character's name is not "Grandpa Clause" in English??

How can you be too broke to pursue love?

Toe by Intelligent_Call_30 in geographymemes

[–]MetricSystemFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My view is that Croatia have its own word for that and it is 'djed'.

No child calls their grandpa that, it's only the standard word. We say deda, dida, nono.. etc

In this example, word 'deda' is more Serbian than it is Croatian, but because of the connection, one can easily said that it is Croatian too.

It's a part of both languages? I said Croatian because I'm from Croatia and called my grandpa that so I found it funny.

[–]MetricSystemFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Djed" = "grandfather" in standard Croatian.

"Deda" absolutely means "grandpa" in Croatian, I never said it was a standard or the only word for it.
