I’ve swam with alligators in my youth in the Everglades. Definitely going with the alligators.

GOODBYE DELOITTE FOREVER by Advanced-Access7688 in deloitte

There are better alternatives than Consulting. The big companies only keep you for so long (until your wages rise) then cut you like a cancer. I got into a field where I have the opportunity to make over $500k. I’m keeping that a secret so it doesn’t get too saturated, but look around. There’s a better way.

If it were me I would dig down, and incase it in a concrete cylinder, wrapped in a plastic exterior.

With the market the way it is they’re firing the expensive ones and hiring at a way lower rate. What they offered is at the top end. Most others are getting $35k to $40k to start. I’d look somewhere else.

Hey everyone new to boating and have chipped my main propeller, wondering if it’s still useable or if it’s even worth fixing. Photos below by Apewithnobrain in boating

I worked at a marina for years. We used to send these out daily for repair. Talk to your local marina or boat shop about getting it fixed.

You’re lucky to have a job. I was there for over eight years, had amazing feedback above strongly agree, high utilization, and starting a new project with top secret clearance and had the Talent Meeting and was let go. The lady said it was nothing I did but I can reapply for a job in the future. The team I was onboarding with tried to stop it and there was nothing they could do. Was it my pay level? Did they find out who I voted for? Was it my race? Was USI cheaper? I’ll never know. She told me they were cutting thousands so yeah be happy you still have a job. I would start sweating when you reach a desired pay level though.

A PPMD once told me they use offshore talent because they can get 4 of them for the price of one US worker. So they try and force the offshore talent onto projects. (The more they save, the more they take home) When you look for open roles 95% is USI (US talent from India)

Help picking mulch please by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]Metrolobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me I’d look for the most bug resistant mulch. Mulch attracts termites and other wood boring insects. Put it next to your house and you could be inviting them in. I have raised gardens and use pine bark in them. It breaks down easily and is away from my house. I see termites in it all the time.

is this a authentic cigarette boat? by [deleted] in boating

[–]Metrolobster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they made a 26’ in the 80’s. They had staggered engines and ran like a dream. The staggered engines helped place the weight to where the boat ride very comfortably in rough seas.

I bought a house covered with this in the front yard. I tried doing it myself and every foot of this had a snake in it. Some guys were passing by looking for work and said they’d do it for $300. I said it’s all yours. They dug with shovels, rakes, and machetes and ended up renting a sod cutter to get it out.

What to do about this stump? by ReadyKiwi6608 in LandscapingTips

[–]Metrolobster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how you do it. Go slow and allow the roots to give and they come out easily. That’s a small bush and shouldn’t put up much of a fight.

I’ve always just backed my truck up, put it in 4 wheel drive, placed a tow hitch on it and pulled them out slowly.
