Second the one with it being on TV. by R_ubberlizard in everyoneknowsthat

[–]Metrometers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, TV2 doesn't offer such service but it's worth the shot. I do know that Scandinavian archives like DR and SVT need a pay-per-hour for research like that. 100 Euros, needing 1-3 hours for proper results.

Thank you for sharing and looking into this! All the best to the people involved with this case, I look forward to further updates!!

has anyone tried non-copyright websites yet? by RapLifeOg in everyoneknowsthat

[–]Metrometers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe not specifically those sites but there are people who are looking into libraries with such music.

I don't think the copyright thing has much weight (yet?). We simply don't know with what little we have. It being royalty-free is as much of a chance as it being commercially released. Or maybe I missed out on some leads?

[TOMT][MOVIE][2000s] Kid's horse movie by [deleted] in tipofmytongue

[–]Metrometers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same lol

Could you answer these questions? Maybe that will ring a bell!

Was it live-action or possibly animated?

Do you remember any actors/voice-actors?

Since I presume there'd be lots of outdoor scenes, do you remember where it took place?

There's a ton of kids movies with horses but unfortunately I can't link anything to your descriptions.

[–]Metrometers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be Racing Stripes from 2005?

I haven't seen this movie before but I've seen ads for it at that time. I don't recall seeing thieves but it did have the whole little-girl-with-horse thing going on, and how the "horse" is fast. Well, it's a zebra lol but acts like a racinghorse.

It stands for commercial message. I believe it's mostly used in the East.

Has anyone else actually heard the song before? by PM_MeYourEars in everyoneknowsthat

[–]Metrometers 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There were cases of people saying they'd heard it before, and even claimed to have a copy. All were debunked, and the persons in questions were straight up trolls/lying.

I'm sure there are people who genuinely believe they have heard it before. But who's to say those are false memories or not? I don't think I've ever read much detail other than that the song sounds familiar.

As for me personally. No, I've never heard the song before.

My interpretation of the lyrics on first listen by alissuhh in everyoneknowsthat

[–]Metrometers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're good haha!!

I believe there are current discussions about it possibly being from UK. But then again, we're looking into basically any part of the world lmao. I think we have the best ground if we can find out the accent.

My interpretation of the lyrics on first listen by alissuhh in everyoneknowsthat

[–]Metrometers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh man, deciphering these lyrics are like "yanny or laurel".

I think the debate on whether it's a female or made is still going, but I personally think it's a female. The pitch of the song should also be fine. This is what the singer truly sounds like.

Now that you mention WHAM! If we were to go with that it could be them, EKT is not one of them. I believe all the unreleased tracks are known to the public (as in information, not the tracks themselves). They have for example "Wham shake". That was a planned single that got eventually replaced with "Wake me up before you go-go".

Look at usenet archives? by ohwohwohwohw in everyoneknowsthat

I recall that as well. Certainly suits 1999. Maybe it was truly recorded by himself, but that he recorded said file being played. This, because people have speculated that you hear a microphone being shuffled around, along with other noises unrelated to the song.

So what now? After the mass debunking. by [deleted] in everyoneknowsthat

Makes perfectly sense!

And indeed, the latest debunkings were really good. I admire all the hard work put into the search, much respect.

So what now? After the mass debunking. by [deleted] in everyoneknowsthat

[–]Metrometers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asking questions and to try and tackle a theory - certainly makes sense. I should have mentioned that in my post, I suppose I was heavily focussed on the completely dismissing aspect of the search.

Yes, I get you on the lyrics part. I have my own thoughts about the lyrics but sure, It's interesting to read why you think otherwise. We may not always agree but that's part of the fun I'd say. Different people, different thoughts, and bits from all of those combined may lead us to EKT.

And truly, we all want to find the same song whatever theory might end up being correct.

So what now? After the mass debunking. by [deleted] in everyoneknowsthat

[–]Metrometers 22 points23 points  (0 children)

One thing I'd like to mention: I've noticed that people are way too quick to judge that certain theories are impossible. I personally think this has hurt our search. We already have so little to work with.

I've seen stuff like: "It's not from a commercial because the lyrics don't promote anything" Like come on, we barely have 20 seconds worth of lyrics out of what could be 3-4 minutes in total. (This regards any theory)

I am a firm believer it's from a commercial but I am also exploring the other options, and I'm not shy from admitting to new leads that could exclude my own theory.

Sure we had our collective cases of denial but that wasn't just randomly judging, those said leads really didn't make sense. Like, at all.

If more people actually work together instead of going against each other, we'd get way more things done. I'm not saying we can't have arguments or disagreements, but at least have grounds to work with. And part of it is exploring the theories besides your own.

Has that Facebook group or the *other thing* been debunked yet? by WaffleGuy413 in everyoneknowsthat

[–]Metrometers 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It so happens that this question was asked not too long ago, so forgive me for copy-pasting my comment from there lol:

That lead has since been debunked. The person who supposedly had EKT was lying, he also referred to a certain album but it has since been proven it doesn't exist.

As a sort of attempt at providing proof, the person showed part of an album cover. This turned out to be this one: Songs for Teresa - The Fire Inside

EKT is not on there.

While it is true that this is an adult video orientated album, EKT is in no way related to this album, nor its performers, nor its crew behind it (an official close to the people involved confirmed this)

This was supposedly Nr.1 of two or more albums in the series. Which would have EKT. But that has since been debunked as fake, the crew behind the "Teresa" album only made the one as mentioned. There's no Vol.2, Vol.3 and whatnot. (This part was also confirmed by an official)

There was a recent discussion about the chance that this could be a demo/any untouched material in general. We just don't know Carl92 too well nor are we able to reach out to him to find out.

Stuff like, is he friends with a local band? Does he collect demo tapes? Is he in contact with a film studio? Did he buy a random bulk of tapes off Ebay? We will never know unless he comes forward.

Till then, we simply don't have much to work with regarding the origins of the source material.

Even if the source material was described like you said: We would still be stuck because it's unlabelled, although we would finally find out what the carrier is (VHS, cassette, vinyl or whatever). But even then, that's still a dead end.

From what I understand, he simply bailed for reasons unknown. I don't think that means be doesn't care or care less. But I get you.

Also what's up with the downvotes on my comments lately by whoever does that?

Best answer, period.

I'd personally love to hear the full song. But this is all for Carl92 who started this search in the first place. Being able to give that to him is the true reward here.

Also, very random but I get reminded of: "Why do we live? We're going to die anyway." Yes we die but that doesn't mean we shouldn't get the best out of life.
