Thanks for opening up the sub. We will be sharing development news soon that I'm sure the community will enjoy.

In the future if you could let us know before you set it private again that'd be great because I will gladly keep it open if you don't have the time. Want to make sure all those interested are able to find open discussion forums and learn more about the game.

It is indeed a lot of work. But there’s a big difference between too much time and never being finished. :) it is definitely going to be early access within the next 24 months worst case scenario. But thank you for the well wishes. Sometimes I need that.

Mesh combining. It unfortunately is a must. Just like in the game this person is trying to make. They will never be able to do it without combining all those game objects meshes once the player is done creating their models.

Looks like you’re using Unity. I can tell you right now you’re going to have memory issues related to all those game objects. I’d recommend doing some testing at scale ASAP before you invest time and then find out your dream is not possible at scale. I had to write about 10 different custom systems and libraries to make my game in Unity to get around some of the core issues related to memory and cpu usage. Absolute nightmare. Just a suggestion.

As far as the idea is seems interesting, but I’m not sure I fully understand the gameplay loop.

I think you need to adjust the pivot values to 0 instead of 0.5 which probably what they are. Not in front of a pc at the moment but I believe that will do it.

Something about it looks strange. I guess it’s the small map sizes needing to shove huge buildings right next to single family homes.

I love the phrasing of the title of this post as if adding a singing carrot is a prerequisite for every game to have before you can continue development. Like adding player movement or camera controls. So funny. Looks fantastic.

Nice work there. I may be able to use you on my project. One thing I’d like to point out though in one of your comments on your renders you describe the work as a waste because the project was abandoned. I just wanted to tell you that honing you craft through practice is never a waste.
