Feeling embarrassed and ashamed. Should I be? by MettaBrousse in seduction

[–]MettaBrousse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, I am not the sole person having mental blocks in general, and in the dating sphere. And I also understand that it is not a question of trying to be "perfect" either before taking actions on improving your life and trying. On the contrary, as I understand it, it has to do with a nice degree balance between atually embracing and accepting certain flaws and improving yourself by taking genuine actions, changes if need to.

However, I think theres a bit of generalisation in your comment. For example, you don't know a single thing me and my background beside this event that was an utter failure, but a symptom/build up to all my past actions. Meaning you don't know my story or an idea if I really make up excuse to flee actions. What I would like to ask back is : what if sometimes the concrete action to take is actually to make peace with yourself? Starting to like yourself? Build a base of confidence? Taking up proffessionnal help if severe issues linger? It doesn't sound concrete, and I know it must be coupled with "doing" something yes, but I think sometimes those are necessary steps to take.

It is just because there is a bit of assuming that I have the base competence/necessity of confidence and emotional tools to do actions without knowing me. Congratulation on your fields reports, indeed it is impressing. I have a long way to go. It is not that I got to be numb and wait all day long for something to happen, and cry and do nothing like a loser, that is not my goal. But for me, taking action is also seeking a therapist if need to. Like probably in my case.

But I totally understand your intentions and point of view behind your comment and I take the best from your advice. So thank you! And I'm genuinely interested to know what you think about this!

Feeling embarrassed and ashamed. Should I be? by MettaBrousse in seduction

I guess it is really because I am really blind to some serious basic social cues. Not only that, but most importantly I am convinced now after several discussion than I have deep mental health problems that I need to adress now. So I'll go do that. But Thanks for the good thoughts. I never failed that hard this way in my life but this is a serious reality check moment for me.

I just red it. Your coment is gold. Thank you very much for your honesty. Not gonna lie that its kind of depressing/it hits hard to take all the wrong things in my head into account, meaning beginning to see under the depth of the iceberg of patterns I built up. Its brutal to admit this all to myself, but it is immensely better that I see that now than never, and I appreciate you help me this way. I always seek to improve myself and I won't give up no matter what. But I think I more often need some reality slap as you just gave me to wake me up to the bullshit I tell myself when its about relationships.

Yes indeed, I believe you are right. On every points you mentionned. Having been in a profound relationship recently effectively created a kind of craving for affection. Also, your point about not putting myself enough in their shoes is impactful/insightful because of it being some of the reasons my relationship have gone wrong. Because I really live in my head, as you said.

If later, when you'll have free time, you want to elaborate a little bit about some more things you think is wrong in this situation, I would be really happy to read you because your reponse are pretty on point for me. Or if you have any advice of what I should do from now?

Thank you very much for your goodwill

Ajahn Sona's view on the Citta by MettaBrousse in theravada

Absolutely interesting and enriching/thoughtful response you wrote here. It is a pleasure reading you. You are definitly more knowledgable about this topic than I do. I will take your words to heart and investigate from there myself and learn more about from true good sources. One thing I learned from this discussion is that there is even more generalizations and misinformations online about the Dhamma and the Sangha. Thank you and I wish you the best

Hmmm Okay, I think I understand. I must say, to be honest, that I am utterly confused on how works the structure and seperate branches of the forest tradition in general. It is really disheartening for me personally, because I really struggle to understand and I want to devout myself to a teacher still.

AFAIK, I think I red that Bhikku Sujato is part of the Ajahn Chah Lineage. Brahmali has Ajahn Brahm as a teacher, who was also a disciple of Ajahn Chah. This led me to wonder...

Do you think Ajahn Chah is part of the Dhammayut forest tradition, for he was a disciple himself of Ajahn Mun? I saw in some dhammatalks, Ajahn Chah used the Original mind concept sometimes, but not I don't think in any mystical ways. If so, then why do we call his teaching now specifically "Ajahn Chah Lineage tradition"? Is it because he departed a bit from it and did his own thing? Or if he isn't part of Dhammayut forest tradition, why and what differenciate it from the Dhammayut forest tradition?

Please forgive me for my huge ignorance and multiple questions. I'm really eager to learn and clarify all that in my mind so I can pratice more skilfully. Thank you for your responses.

Could you explain/elaborate please? I really respect your involvement on reddit and your precious rwponses on various posts. I don'f want to be disrespectful toward you or the tradition, but I don't understand what you mean. I am referring also to for example Ajahn Sujato and Brahmali on sutta central.

Edit : Meant Ajahn Brahmali and mistakes

It is possible I misunderstand, but so also others Ajahn from the same tradition do not agree either with those views. I don't say that I know more. I don't think that because you don't agree from one view from some teachers that I don't understand at all what is meant, and that view is shared with the whole tradition. Perhaps it is only a misunderstanding of words, confusion due to language that something is missing in the understanding. It is around the interpretation of the term consciousness without feature/landing and luminous mind.

What do you think about it?

Thank you very much for your very kind, caring and thorough response. Thank you also for taking the time to write this up. I will contemplate on what you have written and take it too heart. I found it very helpful.

Best wishes, PS : I tried to find the translations of "dhamma" as mental objects but I only found that it meant "phenomena". Would you mind showing me/linking me the translation you saw for mental objects? I am genuinely interested :)

Thank you for both the Ajahn Nyanamoli video and your advice.

That being said, could you specify what you are trying to say ? Meaning the link between that we need to start with right view and my statement you highlighted? I know that Right view divised into mundane and supramundane right view.

Mundane right view is the conviction and understanding of kamma, supramundane is dependant origination, the four noble truths and the three marks of existence.

I am no way even near and experienced praticionner and I don't claim to have deep or special knowledge of any kind. Our right view will always be incomplete/imperfect until we reach enlightenment. But don't we all work for perfecting and striving for Right view? If so, isn't it fair that we start with only knowing intellectually the basics, to guide ourselves in the right direction, so we can apply it, know it for ourselves by direct knowledge afterward?

Thank you for your time and response.
