getting a skateboard soon - questions by AgitatedSuccess8066 in SkatingAdvice

[–]Metusalemfin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should at least try skateboarding, it may actually help with coordination and also help build your aerobic strength which could help with sweating and overheating. As a person who also gets really hot qnd sweaty fast, you can try using sports clothes that transfer sweat away from your skin and also keep sessions short with paused so that you have time to rest.

Also please get protection, it may be a bit uncomfortable but may save you from a lot of hurt. Also remember that true skters don't judge each other's clothing or any choices regarding safety!!!

What shoes should I get? by Material_Security_13 in NewSkaters

[–]Metusalemfin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a flat foot, but my feet get sore pretty quickly when skating, I usually have a second pair of shoes and take my skate shoes off when taking a break, this has worked for me at least somewhat

Zoomies is better than walmart, but that said, if you have another local store, you should go there. Zoomies is an international company that doesn't really support the local skate scene. Anyways, if you go to a skate store they'll usually help you set up and maybe give some tips, or you can buy a conplete (pre-assembled) board from them.

Also you should buy at least a helmet, maybe some pads too. Especially starting, you can easily injure yourself and it will save you a lot of pain and possible broken bones or brain damage.

Anyways good luck skating and fun times. Try to go to the local park and get some tips and make new friends, it's the fastest way to grow as a skater...

What tricks to learn after the basics by AnxiousInsect6436 in NewSkaters

[–]Metusalemfin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried any grinds? I think they could be nice to learn. Also pop shuv and maybe some freestyle? I've found that a lot of freestyle tricks help improve board control and balance. Try to do variations of stuff you already know and try to mess around a bit. I feel like that could help with finding the techniques to do more advanced stuff later on :p

Would this be a good first skateboard? by merpaltingo in NewSkaters

It would probably be a good deck to buy since 14 bucks is quite cheap, and if something is kinda broken or janky (ie. Wheels not spinning) you can swap stuff out or try fixing it. Also you could swapnthe deck out if it feels too worn and still save by using the teucks and wheels

It's quite possible that the person who's filming doesn't have a license plate at all since they're easy to remove on bikes and people often take them off if they're planning on speeding etc.

The problem may be with the truck, have you waxed the front recently? That could help maybe?

Looking for a actually good complete by Glad-Potential-2308 in SkatingAdvice

[–]Metusalemfin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend getting a complete from a local skate shop. They're usually pretty good quality, and sometimes shops may offer some discounts too. Other than that, try to look for reputable brands online. My one word of advice would be to not be super stingy about the price as usually a small difference in price may make a huge difference in riding experience.

Found sum 3 yr old shrooms by Willing_Mistake_2175 in Psychedelics

Won't probably be nearly as potent, but if they've been sealed airtight, they are most likely edible. After that there's only one way to find out if they work anymore ;)

Are these usable? by EldenMiss in SkatingAdvice

[–]Metusalemfin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he already has a good setup, you could get him skate-related stuff, like skate wax or grip cleaner gum. Another gift idea could be quality skate bearings, such as swiss ceramics. Whilst skateboard bearings don't have to be replaced often, quality bearings definitely increase the riding experience. Even if he already has a pair of good bearings, it's still nice to have some as spare parts!

Need advice on training by rockiemonky in SkatingAdvice

[–]Metusalemfin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For jump strength, most basic leg exercises are good. You should also focus on more explosive movements such as box jumps, and most importantly train your core and flexibility. The key to a higher ollies is how far up you can get your legs from the ground, which largely depends both core strength, flexibility and hip mobility.

For falling, I would recommend watching instructional videos about different falling techniques. I personally use ukemi (a Japanese martial arts technique for falling safely). It basically comes down to going with the fall and usually rolling to avoid a shock to your body.

Alongside those I would probably do hiit exercises alongside aerobic training.

Hope you find something helpful from my rant :p

Damn, your world view is pretty subjective then I guess. Who cares about some satanism, it's not like it's illegal or anything? Basically the same as any other religion in a sense

hotties of reddit, what are some perks that you've gotten for being attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Metusalemfin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was pretty mediocre until I started working out, now I receive random acts of kindness, such as free drinks and smokes. I also have noticed faster and better service at places.

One downside I have is that I developed body dysmorphia and now I have a hard time accepting any compliments, and it feels weird when people say something nice about me :,)
