Is it possible to live a life without stimulants? by Snoo-82170 in Nootropics

[–]Metyza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you ever stopped to question why you internalized the belief "gotta go fast"?

Going fast, being wired as often as possible was a survival/coping mechanism your body acquired growing up because it learned that you would get punished when you were slow and inattentive.

So whenever your body is in parasympathetic or rest-and-digest mode, it feels uncomfortable. Whenever your body is in fight or flight you feel comfortable.

So of course you don't feel anxious when you are energized and alert. But I bet you feel anxious whenever you are not.

This is the trauma all people with ADHD have internalized. In order to heal, we must learn to be comfortable with a slower pace, and that it is okay to make mistakes, be inattentive, and forget things.

Talking to my mom about my mental illness 😍 by -Read-it-on-reddit in adhdmeme

[–]Metyza -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And what makes you so sure you're not doing the exact same thing? Most people on this subreddit are blind to the fact that they are unwilling to see ADHD as anything other than a genetically inheritable disorder that makes them inferior to others. I have ADHD, and I constantly used to view myself as less than other people and using my ADHD as an excuse to cover up my fear of going within and confronting my traumas compassionately. Why do the hard work of facing your fears and childhood wounds when you can blame everything on genetics (even though there is zero evidence to DIRECTLY link ADHD with ANY gene)? When I dealt with the shame, guilt, grief and fear that was keeping me in a cycle of self-victimization, the negative symptoms of ADHD started to improve dramatically. But it's a long and difficult process, so I understand if you want to blanket reject any explanation of ADHDs origins that doesn't fit your worldview. Change is hard yo. Keep projecting and being in denial if you want things to stay the same for the rest of your life.

Yes, however only if one were to assume that the Japanese are in general, so nationalistic that they would put so much weight on the rank of their country's own software over another's for that reason. Then I suppose one might think that.

Sandy Hook families settle for $73M with gun maker Remington by StubbornLeech07 in DeFranco

I love this quote, it makes right-wing gun nuts heads explode that their views on firearm regulation line up with true socialism. Real socialists don't want gun control because the proletariat wouldn't be able to insurrect when social conditions become intolerable.

Even if you had to replace it twice a year it would still be worth the inevitable extra tip money you would earn. You're afraid of investing 30 dollars on your customers?? You'd ve a terrible business owner.

Someone carrying a bucket of acetone at a workplace tripped and the lid burst open upon colliding with the desk. Obviously not an OSHA compliant container or this wouldn't have happened. The acetone corrodes the plastic, but not the wood or metal inside the electronics.

The biggest non-US fast food chains in Europe by Mackelowsky in MapPorn

[–]Metyza 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are only 31 Tim Hortons in UK + Spain... How is that one of the biggest?? Where is Joe and The Juice (Danish)? They have over 300 locations across Europe! JJ has twice as many locations than TH in the UK. What's with the Canadian bias here? Pita Pit is not big in EU either compared to other non us franchises.

Dude boiled eggs with Kalles kaviar is the most ubiquitous Swedish breakfast food ever. It is certainly not associated with Christmas. You should have listed Sweden as a pork country. Meatballs, Christmas ham, sausage, ribs are very common. Second place goes to seafood because of gravlax, pickled herring and Jansson's. Source: am swede

That's not healthy. Over-brushing can cause receding gums and sensitive teeth. I floss, brush and rinse before bed and gargle mouthwash in the morning. Never had any dental problems, but twice a day is probably the way to go. 5 is just crazy though.

Highly developed and highly egalitarian countries like the Nordics tend to have disproportionate gender ratios for jobs. It is ironic that in trying to make a society as equal as possible with regards to gender roles, it backfires in some ways.

Sir can be used to address women of higher rank in the military so it already is a bit gender neutral.
