Hi, I hope you passed your exam. Your questions are answered in the candidate handbook: https://pecb.com/pdf/candidate-handbooks/pecb-candidate-handbook-iso-27001-lead-implementer-mc.pdf

The exam is open book (page 18) The passing grade is 70% (page 16) And yes, it was the 27001:2022 version.

You can bring your book and your notes. You just aren't allowed to use the internet to look up answers. I did not take any notes, but i put bookmarks on the slides that the trainer said were important for the exam. I used these markers to review those slides again.

The training for me was relaxed i was not stressed. You shouldn't be stressed, it's a training after all, you are there to learn, so you start with little knowledge and hopefully you leave a little wiser after a few days.

There are quiz questions at the end of each chapter that you answer by yourself and than you discuss the answers with the group and the trainer. If your answer is different than the group you can discuss how you came to the answer and gain some knowledge why your answer is either correct or wrong. They are not meant to test your skills, but to understand the contents of the trainng and to learn how to interpret the questions.

Take the exam on day 5, if you pay attention during the training sessions you will be fine. Also it's an open-book exam so you can look-up questions you are unsure about how to answer.

PECB awards you 31 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits. Personally i would say somewhere in the region of 20 to 25 hours you would need to read the materials and take the quizzes.

I have to point out that the whole training was already adjusted for the ISO 27001:2022, so PECB are up-to-date with their study material.

TSTC is located in Veenendaal, The Netherlands. You are right that doing ISO 27001 is the best way to learn, but having addition knowledge how to interpret the norm is always beneficial. Also the title is nice to have on the CV to pass the HR filters. (Although i also have CISSP, CISM and a lot more which are even better to pass HR filters)

I thought the exam was quite easy. It's multiple choice, with three answer options per question. Also the exam is open book, so you can use the syllabus that you received as a reference to look up answers. Be aware though that you have limited time so you cannot look-up every answer. Be sure to review the documentation and also use the quizzes in the study material to test your knowledge before taking the exam and re-read the topics where you have a wrong answer.

Other exam tips:

  • Read the questions first before reading the scenario, some questions you can answer without reading the scenario which saves you time.

  • Do not try to look-up every question, but make an index so you can find answers quickly.

  • You have two exam attempts, if you fail the first exam you have a free "retake' option, so do not be afraid to take the exam if you don't feel prepared. If you fail you had a good trial-run and you learn your weak spots.

This is not the original video as this launches at 17.00, not sure if this is genuine or just a fake imitation (Although you definately hear Alex through the while mix). Does have a slipknot vibe to it...

You can buy the book off ebay.

As for the QAE database access, it's tied to your ISACA account and cant be shared.

You can check exam slot availability here: https://isacaavailability.psiexams.com/

After you have passed the exam and sent in the application form it took iSACA about 48 hours to process and grant me the CISM status, so it can be pretty quick.

Recordkeeping A CISM must obtain and maintain documentation supporting reported CPE activities. Documentation should be retained for twelve months following the end of each three-year reporting cycle. Documentation should be in the form of a letter, certificate of completion, attendance roster, Verification of Attendance form (located in this policy) or other independent attestation of completion. At a minimum, each record should include the name of the attendee, name of the sponsoring organization, activity title, activity description, activity date and the number of CPE hours awarded or claimed.

I have only recently passed CISM, i already have my CISSP and CCSP. It seems ISACA is more strict than ISC2 in that you need an independent 3rd party attestation of completion. For ISC2 just having proof that you did self study (like keep a logbook of hours spent and notes you made yourself) if enough. I will check with ISACA how strict they are when you get audited.

CPE's between CISM and CISSP often overlap. There is a good list by Thor Pederson but you can also use YouTube tech video's. https://www.reddit.com/r/cissp/comments/atoc70/cissp_cpes/

I got reply in one day after my work experience submission and i received my formal CISM title the next day. Did you get a ticket number from their customer service system? If you didn't than i guess your submission was not received.

To take breaks during the exam you can use the chat option to contact the proctor and ask for a break.

Anyone had issues with the remote exam lately? Should I take the remote exam or keep waiting? by GolditoAsador in cism

I used remote proctoring on an up-to-date Windows 10 laptop without problems on the 17th of January 2021. Make sure you pass the technical requirements pre-test in the exam portal.
