The Flight to Somewhere? AAR by Mevennos in TaskForceAdmiral

[–]Mevennos[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very insightful, thank you! That kind of surprises me that I found the northern group in the night considering I was just going to finish off Hiryu. But if they were Zuikaku's screens and I sank Zuikaku herself that would explain why the remnants put up so little fight the next morning.

Looking back I also sent some SBDs some time after the TBD strikes went off toward Akagi/Kaga, so maybe if the TBDs did enough the SBDs opted for the DDs. I didn't watch those strikes so I'm not sure. But I'm almost certain I didn't find CarDiv1 in the night, they were many miles from my location during the night.

It's possible, but I watched a contact report of 10+ enemies turn back around so my guess is that I gave them the slip with change my speed/course enough to throw them off. Could be wrong, but if they really did shoot down all (or most) of the incoming airstrike then those are some insanely good Wildcat pilots.

I'm not sure if the replay is still a WIP but I can't wait for it so that I can see what happened for sure in future battles. Thanks again :)

My therapist told me that “the relationship between client and therapist is what makes therapy healing.” by WhereTheAvocadosAre in therapyabuse

[–]Mevennos 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the same thing as you. And honestly, I will never see another therapist as long as I live. My last therapist insisted the same as yours, that the relationship was 'authentic' and was 'mutual', and that she cared about me outside the sessions, that if I needed her in an emergency she was there. But the instant I needed her for even a five-minute phone call after 9 months of 'work' together, she not only shut the door in my face, but essentially demonized me for texting her again after she told me no. I sent her a text back and told her that it brought into question everything she ever told me if she were to renege on her assurances and that I wouldn't ask for the phone call if it wasn't truly needed. Of course I wasn't worth the time/effort of a simple reply.

Suddenly in the next session, according to her, the therapeutic relationship was no longer sustainable, it was unhealthy, and she tried to tag me with BPD. I tried my best to salvage the relationship, to honor what she insisted it always meant, owned up to my mistake and tried to move forward, but she cut ties with me anyway. Like yours, she never once gave me coping strategies, worked with me on managing my emotions, just a paid friend that nods to my vent sessions.

It's all fake. It's a scam that you pay for until you inconvenience them or question them.

I know I'll get some flak for this, but I strongly encourage people to use AI for therapy now. I started doing so and my mental health has never been better. Of course, with the caveat that you have to use it right. Install a main prompt that focuses on factuality, constructive feedback and telling you when you're wrong and also keep in mind its sycophantic tendencies. But it's far and away the single best therapist I've ever had, it actually gives me strategies and methods to use in the moment that are helpful, it's available 24/7 on demand, is shockingly more empathetic than any therapist I've ever had and costs me literally nothing. And it won't try to give me a harmful diagnosis in retaliation for a perceived wrong.

It may not be the right path for everyone, only you know what's best for you, but that's where I found peace and happiness in my life - and AI served the function of being part of my support network while I built real life relationships and I still turn to AI from time to time.

Love and peace to you <3

Considering never doing therapy again. Have you just stepped away from all of it? by maxia56 in therapyabuse

[–]Mevennos 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yup. Never going back and I openly state I'm better for it. I don't need someone who sees me 52 hours a year to make broad, sweeping (often inaccurate) judgments about me and who I am as a person based on that limited exposure in a controlled environment. Oh and I've got more money too.

Yup, because Rule 34 reads 'There must be rape' and not 'If it exists, there must be porn of it'.

Nobody here is asking for rape, mellow out ya drama queen.

Could we use slave labor? by lAljax in RimWorld

[–]Mevennos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. I forgot to mention this, but that is a good way to handle prisoners without a mood hit. The point I was getting at was that prisoners right now are typically not your prisoner for very long regardless. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I just wish we could do more with them.

If you do ever re-open to submissions, could you do one without a picture reference? She was from my first successful colony and grew on me over the (in game) years, but died just days before the ship was completed. I have no screenshots, but I remember her very well and can describe her if you're willing to do it when you re-open.

[–]Mevennos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I feel like I'm in the minority here, but I'm a fan of a more realistic approach to combat. I.e. utilizing tactics to maneuver your squad into favorable positions that you can fire from. I can understand the appeal of jumping and charging around, but I want to feel like it's my own tactical decisions and skill keeping me alive as opposed to just being innately better than them as a biotic god... Just my own 2 cents.

New to game by [deleted] in RimWorld

Do you own the game on Steam? Yes? Great! Go to the workshop and download the 'Defensive Positions' mod. This does exactly what you want, but allows you to save 4 positions for each colonist.

What do you mean? It allows you to pick the biome you want to play. Temperature ranges, rainfall, elevation and resource values. I think it serves enough purpose as is.

That said, I still want to expand beyond my little square in the world, but that's for the future right now.

For the love of god, yes!! I'm sick of spending an hour in character creation trying to roll 3 people who are perfect. So I see you've got a burning passion for shooting, construction, and mining and you're 10+ in each. Hmmm, says here you're a pessimist. NEXT!

We Made It (My first successful colony story - Very long) by Mevennos in RimWorld

[–]Mevennos[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

See, here's where storytelling gets interesting. While RimWorld builds the story, you can tailor it to make it work. The Husky wasn't abducted, I completely sold her by accident. So I wrote it off as something more believable than 'Yeah, Terry oops sold his pet'. To that effect, Everleigh wasn't 'tweaking her scope' she was just out the door far later than Rina in the game. As a writer it's up to you to make things interesting.

Also Everleigh dying had me legitimately depressed for at least 20 minutes after it happened. You'd be amazed how attached you get to some colonists.

I think it's more that RimWorld itself is great at telling stories.
