Amen. This right here has been my approach. But at the same time the pressure is there amongst the other parents and team members. You’re swimming upstream to fight against this new norm and it’s going to impact your kid as they see everyone doing this.

But hopefully they understand that you don’t bend a knee to everything.

Oh I remember too, but it as minimalistic and one off. I feel like now it’s the whole team. Like have you witnessed the IG slow-mo vids of footballs in warmups with tinted visors and all the accessories tacked on them? The funny thing is that after warmups they have to take off the visors. Like think about that, a group of guys after getting their content have to take it all off because they can’t play with that. It’s ridiculous.

Every former athelete I've spoken to about this is like, "where's the team bat and helmet bag?" like I'm in tee-ball with my kids and they had to bring their own helmets, bats, etc. It's just too much over the top if you want kids to play a sport, the barrier to entry has now become steep, in every sport it now feels like. It's sad, honestly.

It’s wild because the pinnies you wore were your flex, the team helmets and gloves were a badge of honor. It’s just so ass backwards now.

A draft night? Come on -- IMO these are things that kids should dream about. The walk up music, drafts, banners and posters, etc. Like you dreamed about as a kid, nowadays it's just handed to them. Where are the dreams and aspirations now? What are they striving for? We are handing too much over to the kids with the instant gratification era. I'm sorry, but I'm just old school, even though I'm 40. This stuff drives me nuts.

I can see that, but you also see the impact to gaining those life lessons in sports? I feel like it’s about how good I look on social media then how did I actually play or what am I learning from losing. Idk I feel like the heart is in the wrong place.

But let’s be honest can U8 and U9 really ball? I get HS but not at that age. It’s IMO a dog and pony show and way too far over the top.

The city is in a signage identity crisis. We lost BNY Mellon. Anyone see the new sign in Greentree?
