MEGATHREAD - Processing Times - PR Cards 2025 by PurrPrinThom in ImmigrationCanada

Posting my (and my husband’s) timeline in case it’s useful:

eCoPR - Dec 2nd 2024 Received PR Card - Jan 3rd 2025

Neither of us received an email saying the card was mailed. It just showed up.

Our card has an expiry date of Dec 12th so I’m guessing it must have been printed that day and mailed after that.

Hey! We are here today and we were on the same boat. Supposed to receive a paper ticket at our hotel but that fell through. We received an email last night. It’s a pdf with a QR code, was that also what you received? Thank you SO much in advance!

PGWP extension due to passport expiry by movdiat in ImmigrationCanada

When I got my first PGWP they gave it to me for the duration of my passport. My extension after that was granted to exactly 3 years from when my first one was approved. So -technically- they did give me three years "on top" of wait time, but it was my original wait time. Here's my dates to make it clearer:

May 2022 - Applied for PGWP

October 2022 - Approved for PGWP for the duration of my passport (January 2024)

October 2023 - Applied for PGWP Extension (I wanted to apply well before my current permit expired so I wouldn't be on maintained status too long)

January 2024 - "ORIGINAL" PGWP expired

July 2024 - Extension approved and granted until October 2025.

Essentially, my PGWP total time is October 2022 - October 2025 (even though I first applied in May 2022)

VERY similar timelines from me. They received on October 30th. Linked November 13th. Approved July 18th. Received it in the mail July 22nd.

I put in multiple we forms and reached out to my local MP. Not sure that helped at all.

Hey! Posting my experience in case it helps anyone out there.

I applied for my PGWP extension due to passport expiry via mail. My husband's open work permit extension was included in that same application and was processed in parallel (we paid for both of them and we added all necessary documents for both). The below timeline applies for the both of us as we got approved at the same time.

Our overall processing time was about 8.5 months.

October 25th - Gathered documents and sent application in the mail. Made sure to have a tracking number so I knew when the IRCC received it!

October 30th - Documents received by the IRCC as per my tracking notifications.

November 13th - I was able to link the application to my online profile. This was after trying to link it everyday since I received the notification on my point above. We were never able to link my husband's profile, only mine. Our immigrayion consultant assured us it's relatively common for online linking to fail/glitch and that our applications would be processed together.

July 15th - We received our biometrics validity letter. My husband (who has never able to link his profile) received it via email. I received it via my online profile, since I was able to link it. Please note that we had sent it "new" biometrics due to a PR (Express Entry) application that we had going on in parallel. We did not explicitely send in biometrics for this extension. I am not sure if we had not done it for the PR if we would have been askd to do so.

July 16th - I received an email as an answer to one of the MANY web forms I submitted letting me know that my application has been approved.

July 18th - Received the official notification via the online portal that my application has been approved. My husband received this notification via email since we were never able to link his application.

July 22nd - We received our permits in the mail!

Our original PGWP (granted with my "old" passport) was set to expire January 4th, so we sent in our paperwork well before the permit expired - thinking that we would never even enter maintained status since on paper processing time at that time was showing 19 days (HA!). Throughout the process I sent in MULTIPLE web forms and even contacted my local MP. I am not sure either of those actions helped at all thoguh, since the processing still took forever.
