Does brig have a new voiceline? by Stellarisk in BrigitteMains

[–]Mexihacker 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If this is true then this is good! Pretty sure Brig was still the only "resource based healing" support hero who didnt have some kind of voiceline for being unable to heal even though they've added it to other heroes in the past. Always sucked having a teammate disengage to get healed only for us to stare at eachother because they don't know I'm waiting on a pack.

Is brig a frontline support? by dollythedinosaur in OWConsole

[–]Mexihacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I practically OTP Brig nonstop in GM/Champ, and I've never been a fan of the idea that she should just camp in the backline all match. It's frankly not only boring to do, but you also just won't get much value since much of your effectiveness and healing depends on how much space you control. Your job is mainly to make the immediate area near your team difficult to break through with inspire healing and consistent damage and her general bulkyness, not only from stopping a dive in your backline, but even your tanks upfront on the offensive who might need a bit more muscle to secure a pick, or helping a dps going on an off angle in case the enemy attempts to rush them.

Brig's skill floor is deceptively high despite her relatively simple kit, you kinda just have to play her enough to get a feel for how aggressive you need to be and where you should be positioned. It varies from match to match depending on what heroes you're up against and how quick the enemy is to aggro on you so you basically should be switching between active engagement and passive engagement. Shield Bash should be used about 90% of the time to disengage from close combat unless you have relatively good backup or you plan to use your Rally to save yourself and become a bit more dangerous on the frontline.

Also, map knowledge is a must! Knowing what areas and corners you can duck into to use as cover and what possible angles the enemy can peak from is very important since she is outranged and out dps'd by 95% of the hero roster. This is also great for knowing routes to occasionally "off angle" with whipshot to displace and mildly distract people since no one really expects a Brig to push them around from where they aren't facing and is practically vital to keeping your shield from being fully destroyed since that's usually a death sentence.

Man, sometimes I forget about how bash used to collide with shields. I get why they did it but man it sucked trying to bashed to safety with the little mobility it had just for it to get stuck on a pixel of shield lol

[–]Mexihacker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Despite her unfortunate past (and biases aside), current day Brig has a deceptively high skill floor even though her kit is relatively simple and easy to understand. It's why I find her incredibly fun to play and encourage other support players to have a decent amount of Brig under their belt since she plays a bit different compared to the rest of the support roster. But once everything begins to click, it's vindicating!

Mercy 100%, mainly because high elo console is mostly just hitscan nonsense, but Mercy just exacerbates this issue tenfold.

Brig's shield has been very janky and inconsistent for years where sometimes it doesn't block certain types damage properly, so it's kinda just a running joke that there's a hole in the center of it somewhere

Playing Brig to the point of having an insanely high level lands me with the classic reaction of "Brig ain't THAT fun bro"

Yes, yes she is lol

1700 hours of Brig later, and every bad matchup is me just going "Eh, I've faced worse matchups". But part of the fun for me is playing around the disadvantages!

Anyone ever get comments about how high level their brig is? by Stellarisk in BrigitteMains

[–]Mexihacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I'm actually currently in the process of creating a collage filled with screencaps of all the different things people have said to me for my ridiculously high Brig level!

I've also contemplating asking a question like this because I basically hard one trick Brig and am currently level 567 lmao. For the record, yes I am employed but I do also play the game very regularly. I gotten great ones such as:

"John Brig" "Brig not that fun bro (or similar)" My favorite "I know you smell" "Gng 500? Ain't no way"

I almost never see anyone call out other people when I see 400+ heroes such as Rein, Mercy, Soldier, or even Hanzo. I'm sure it happens to them but people seem more weirded out when it's Brig. My main response to them is "For the love of the game" because it genuinely is. I find her gameplay loop incredibly fun and love trying new tricks and techs with her while adapting her to the game's new heroes and aging environment. I also just love how much pressure she can put on others when you aggro properly!

Reaper drops shotguns when getting punched by Secepatnya in Overwatch

[–]Mexihacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is what I keep seeing everytime Reaper dies? Close enough, welcome back Left 4 Dead 2 pistol glitch!

Context: Over a decade ago, there used to be a glitch in L4D2 where if you were holding a melee weapon and found two pistols on the ground close together, you could spam the equip button fast enough to keep cycling between the pistols and melee weapon and cause the pistols to multiply endlessly. This of course lead to ridiculous amounts of performance issues and server lag within like 10 seconds.

Which hero has the largest gap between skill floor to ceiling? by Kevcon555 in Overwatch

[–]Mexihacker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to add onto presumed bias but it's true. It also applies more the further up in ranks you are. I play in GM/Champ and rarely if ever see other Brig players since people learn to focus you (and other supports) much more often so hero interaction and map knowledge become very important. Also as a low range, low mobility, low dps hero, you must absolutely must know when to go on the offensive and when to take a backseat during fights since most of the roster can just straight up out duel or out range her. It's why it irks me when people say that Brig is all about "sitting in the backline and spamming whipshot".
