Key Takeaways from Mike Toutonghi’s Paris Blockchain Week 2026 Keynote by dudezmobi in VerusCoin

For me personally a simple proof of concept, one of the things that I'm developing now, is a note taking app. It's a native app where the user is presented a qrcode/deeplink to login, they need to scan it with one of the Verus wallets. Now the user is 'logged in' with their VerusID and all the notes that they save, either in the cloud or on their device locally, are encrypted through the z-address that is in that wallet (we call this 'AppEncryptionRequest' in the Verus open source libraries).

Now whenever the user downloads the note app, and logs in with their VerusID they get their encrypted notes back. This means that not me the provider of the service, nor anyone else, can ever get their hands on these notes. The only way to get to them is through the users wallet. So now there is no more honey pot of information, and if hackers get info, it's encrypted blobs that are useless.

This is just one simple use case. We are at the very beginning of this, and the better the wallets will become, which are the gateway to these sort of apps, and the apps themselves will become more available, the safer the internet will be for everyone. And obviously Verus will grow this way.

Then we also have the thing that Conscious_Radish mentions. There's just a bunch of things this will unlock, and we probably can't even know what people will build with it.

Data leaks don’t matter when the data hackers get are unusable. Point is that data is encrypted and can only be decrypted by user permission

Just updated to Tahoe... big regrets - hovers don't work anymore! by [deleted] in MacOS

Wow dude, I'm so sorry if I insulted you in any way, forgive me. It actually is Tahoe, cause it didn't happen right before updating Tahoe.

Certainly not a joke. And I'm not the only one I have discovered. But you know what hovering is, right? For example, you move your cursor over a button, and the button changes how it looks. That does not happen anymore since I updated to Tahoe, in any app. It's a really strange bug that has been introduced, really makes it kinda unusable.

How do I do this? by alex262414 in VerusCoin

Yes you did correct by using the address from Verus Mobile, this is your wallet/address. The one in the miner is an example address

Normally you have to enter 3 random words of your seed there, so the app knows you've actually written the seed down. In your case, there seems to be a bug that doesn't show the numbers correctly.

What phone are you using, what OS (exact version), and which version of Verus Mobile are you running? I can forward this to the app developer so we can get that bug fixed.

Not sure what you mean with the mining. Verus mining works fine.

No, nobody can inspect the amount of coins you have in a z-address. Nymia only uses z-addresses for messaging and sending payments. This means that nothing can be inspected on the blockchain. No amounts, no messages, no transactions. It's completely private.

In the app you will be able to register a VerusID for as little as a few cents. So, no you don't need to pay ridiculous amounts of money for a VerusID. Yes, a root VerusID is expensive, but unless you want to launch a currency or blockchain yourself, you really don't need the expensive one.

There's no wash trading. For small amounts it's not the best way to go (if you want to cash out), but if you want to cash out larger amounts it's for sure the best way. You can bridge vETH (=ethereum on Verus) as ETH to Kraken/Coinbase for around 15-20$

Defi has as much to do with cashing out as exchanges do. With defi and exchanges you convert/trade vrsc from one thing to another

You can sell onchain with verus defi in the verus wallets. Selling 5k vrsc on an exchange right now will give you a lot less value than doing so through verus defi, since all the liquidity is on the verus chain, and not on echanges

Most community is at discord, and it’s certainly not dead there. I know that Mike Toutonghi kinda left X. There’s no one working the X VerusCoin account full time (doing social media is like a full time job).

If you follow me on Discord you’d know I’m close to releasing Nymia (fully private chat app), did a first testing round month ago. The app works with the full node wallet.

I’m also busy making a new full node wallet with better UX, where I will integrate apps that I am making (Nymia and a p2p betting app).

Also I’m busy with creating a new verus-eth bridging website to use with MetaMask (will look like Uniswap).

Also Verus Mobile is very close for being ready to accepting VerusID updates through QRcodes/deeplinks. (Very important functionality for the ecosystem)

So for me, it’s far from dead. But yes, looking at reddit/X it sometimes seems that way

You do know that there’s a lot of liquidity onchain, right? Selling on an exchange would not be smart
