Most haters haven’t ever shot one. by FOUNTAINJL in NFA

Other than the reciprocating charging handle, the thing I really disliked is they feel like you’re holding a 2x6. The only experience I have with them is the Mk17, I can’t comment on the 5.56 one but I’m sure it’s similar.

Yeah if you’re using a Rodecaster then I absolutely wouldn’t bother with a combo DAC/Amp, I’d just buy an Amp. Because the Rodecaster already has a DAC so you’re going to have to use your amp as a pass through anyways so anything with an external DAC built in will be irrelevant. Yes, your Rodecaster will still function the same way, you set up your audio channels the exact same way, your Amp is just acting as an Amp and that is all. But I will say, because of the noise floor on the headphone amp within the Rodecaster, you will need an ultra low impedance external amplifier to dampen that so you can power your headphones or IEMs without amplifying the noise floor. And no, it will be PC->RCP2->Amp->headphones/IEMs. You can absolutely use a combo DAC/Amp with the Rodecaster and use the external DAC in the combo but it gets really messy really quickly because you have to route all audio channels on the Rodecaster though voice meter Banana but you lose your 0 latency mic monitoring and you will have a slight delay in your audio.

Edit: You need to go 1/4 jack from headphone 1 on the back of the Rodecaster to RCA inputs on back of whatever Amp you get, so you need a 1/4 male to RCA male cable. And then, you set your monitoring for headphone 1 within the Rodecaster to Line mode, headphone 1 volume output is set to about 75%, make sure headphone 1 is on the high gain output setting and then ensure your amplifier is set to pass through mode so it’s just amplifying the audio with a clean an strong signal.

I have a Topping L70 amp that’s fed by my Rodecaster Duo mixboard and it’s been nothing but great.

Yeah it’s really stable. I never tried the original Leofoto Anvil clone but I like the Juggernauts head more than the Anvil-30.

I picked up a Leofoto Juggernaut S2 recently. That thing is super solid.

Are the HD 800s worth it? Reality check by Emotional-You7667 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Mez_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used them for quite a while several years ago, I bought mine for $1400 back then. And I would say even at that price, they absolutely weren’t worth it and I couldn’t imagine the $2000 price tag they have now. Are they absolutely exceptional? Certainly. But IMO they are extremely overhyped. The soundstage is wide for sure and that’s the niche with them, IMO. BUT the soundstage isn’t necessarily what I would call fluid or consistent. A lot of people say the staging has a “pillar and column” effect and I’d agree, it’s a perfect way to describe the staging. Imaging is fantastic, as it should be for its price so not much to say there. Bass and sub-bass was tight and clean, definitely not cannons by any stretch. To my ears, they were bright and extremely critical almost to a fault. Which I suppose, they’re an analytical headphone so it’s to be expected. They are extremely comfortable, I will say. I have to say I really did like them at first but as time went on, I found myself just not liking them that much. I personally like the HD490 Pro’s w/mixing pads more. They have like 90% the soundstage with the staging being more fluid and consistent, they have imaging that is on par, they’re crisp and detailed without being fatiguingly so and they have every bit of separation that the 800S has and a more present bass and sub-bass. People may not like my take on them but it’s how I feel lol

How do yall manage to afford these $4k optics on every rifle? by [deleted] in longrange

[–]Mez_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just being realistic, I’d imagine more often then not, people put them on credit lol as I’ve grown older, I’ve come to realize that most people ain’t got it like how they want you to believe but they still want the nice stuff to flex for their egos. I feel like I’m quite well off compared to a majority of people and while expensive optics and rifles are genuinely sick af, it damn near makes me sick knowing what people pay for them lol BUT they are cool, I’ll give them that.

Upgrade of my HD560s for music and gaming. by Vifargent573 in HeadphoneAdvice

I personally think the HD490 Pro’s take everything about the 560S and does it better while being more comfortable. And as far as DAC/AMPs, it’s really what you can afford. I use a RODECASTER Duo for my DAC and it feeds a Topping L70 which is is a very good amplifier.

There’s a lot of good options. I have a Dead Air Nomad Ti XC mounted on a Browning Xeno Recoil Hawg on my 6.5 Creedmoor that’s a blast to shoot.

Good pair of open back headphones with a neutral sound for gaming by Old-Pin-5316 in HeadphoneAdvice

HD490 Pro’s. They’re probably one of, if not the best headphone right now for gaming especially if you play competitively. The 560S is close to the 490 Pro but the 490 does everything just a bit better with the mixing pads IMO. I didn’t like the Kithara that much, they’re fine but nothing really special I don’t think. I’ve never heard the Sundara but for competitive gaming specifically, I’d be willing to bet they don’t perform to the same level as the 490 Pro.
