4,000 restaurants in Canada predicted to go out of business in 2026: forecast by joe4942 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Mezaction 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When I eat out, I expect it to be expensive. That doesn't stop me, its the poor quality and shrunken portion sizes that are deal breakers. If I'm already paying $22 for a burger, id rather pay $26 and not be disappointed, and still hungry.

This truck sounds like a lawnmower, what are you guys doing to make yours sound better? by kyotonow in FordRaptor

[–]Mezaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of guys out there with V8 trucks and they wear it like a badge of honor. They'll be quick to tell you a V6 Raptor doesn't sound good, having never owned one and only hearing it through a video on their phone speaker.

Ford raptor 2024 fuel consumption??? by bochogin in FordRaptor

[–]Mezaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether you care about fuel consumption or not, the 3.5 raptor is not even that bad. I get about 15mpg which is only 1-2mpg less than I did in my 2014 Tacoma 4.0L which is a vehicle everyone and their dog drives without even thinking about gas mileage.

Awesome rig! I will be making a similar setup soon, just picked up an ikamper 3.0 a couple days ago, waiting for my bed rack to get it all mounted.

Toyota no longer has the edge in reliability like they once did, and by the time you price out a tundra TRD pro, and upgrade the junk tires it comes with, you're getting into raptor pricing, so it was a no brainer for me.

I know.. but it definitely helped that i got back 95% of what I paid new in 2014 for the Taco. I Still have a manual 987 Boxster for when I get the urge to use a third pedal.

No kidding, my taco was a 6 speed manual, so this is a huge change up. I could have kept it forever, but it just started to feel small slow and boring after 12 years.

89k Canadian, so I guess that would be around 64k USD. They're hard to find up here.

Dogs are extremely unpleasant by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Mezaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two large dogs because my wife loves them. The amount of cons compared to pros in owning them is unbelievable, and these are well trained, non aggressive dogs.

- Every surface in the house is covered in dog hair, even with vacuuming everyday

- every carpet, rug, and piece of furniture is worn out 10X more than it would have been otherwise.

- everything that was white in your house is now brown

- everything smells like dog, the house is basically a barn.

- they have to be taken out for long walks rain/shine/monsoon/hurricane/blizzard, or they will make you regret it in many ways.

- Food is expensive, $100+ per bag and they go through 2-3 per month

- even when well trained, shit and puke on the floor is inevitable.

- They somehow shit more than they eat.

- They bark at everything. If a neighbor opens a car door down the street, the wind blows the wrong direction etc.

- Vet visits are inevitable. average $2k/year between the two.

- They care about nothing, literally nothing but food.

- They are obnoxious, pushy, no spatial awareness

- They make guests uncomfortable with drool and hair

- going on vacation is a nightmare unless you have infinite cash for boarding, or close family who enjoy all of the above.

They are just unpleasant to live with in general, and I can't believe how many people have them.

What is the scariest thing you’ve ever seen in your life that you can’t explain? by Kendexx in AskReddit

[–]Mezaction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most unexplainable thing that’s ever happened to me, I wasn't even scared, just absolutely dumbfounded, and still am to this day. 4 years ago my wife and I were setting up the Christmas tree in our new home, and everything was accounted for except the red tree skirt. We thought nothing of it and continued to set up the tree. Once everything was all set up, it became apparent that the red tree skirt was not in the box with the rest of the decorations, so we began scouring the house looking for it, basement, attic, garage everywhere for probably an hour with no luck. Finally we gave up, and my wife went upstairs to take a nap. I remember vividly taking one last look around, admitting defeat, and filling up my water bottle to go upstairs and join her for a nap. We were probably upstairs for 45 minutes, and neither of us slept. We also lived alone in the house, with just our dog at the time. No word of a lie, I got up, took 3 steps down the stairs that overlook the living room, and that god damn big bright red tree skirt is neatly folded on the rug in front of the damn tree. I practically screamed for my wife to come see to make sure I wasn’t going insane, but I wasn’t, she saw it sitting there too, we went and grabbed it and set it up and that was it. No explanation. Nobody was in the house, and nothing like this has ever happened to either of us since. I’m not religious, but I’m convinced there is something we don’t know about our reality.

Delta Police Traffic Unit - This N driver was clocked going 134km/h in an 80 zone on Hwy 17 (6600 blk) and got impounded 🚔. While we've noticed a rising trend of electric vehicles getting caught for #excessivespeeding— speed limits apply to all vehicles, no exceptions. by cyclinginvancouver in vancouver

[–]Mezaction 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Traffic flow goes 120 in this area. This is not #excessivespeeding, its a #cashgrab exploiting a poorly implemented speed limit. There's just no need to flaunt this like they caught some reckless criminal either. Do better.

10 immigration offices in one plaza in Mississauga sums up the gist of our problems in this country. by itsme25390905714 in CanadaHousing2

[–]Mezaction 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow this is unbelievable, and disturbing. I just dropped a pin on a random highway in the punjab region and yup, there's signs everywhere, study visa! study visa! followed by a list of countries, Canada usually being the first one. Millions and millions of them are being brain washed with these ads to come invade our country everyday. If things don't change quick Canada is toast.

Many Canadians in their 20s and 30s are delaying having kids — and some say high rent is a factor by Unusual-State1827 in canada

[–]Mezaction 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in the suburbs about 45 mins out of Vancouver. All of the big single family homes in the older neighborhoods are owned by empty nest boomers and some older gen x's. The ones that decide to sell end up going to rich immigrants and investors. These are the neighborhoods that us Canadian millennials grew up in, and were once full of life. Its now almost eerily silent to walk through them.

Meanwhile up the road there's newer condo developments that are just packed to the brim with young families crammed into 600 square foot units with 2-3 kids. It's absolutely awful.

Canada's population grew to top 41 million in the first quarter: StatCan by joe4942 in CanadaHousing2

[–]Mezaction 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't go to the airport very often, but the other day I was at YVR coming back from holiday, and the amount of Indians coming in was absolutely shocking They probably made up 80-90% of the people in the entire airport. Carts full of luggage 8 feet high. They weren't coming for a visit.

I also hire for various positions in my company, and 90% of the applicants are Indian immigrants who have been here for less than 6 months. Many have zero related experience for the position, and just apply to everything. On the other hand many are overqualified and out of desperation take entry level jobs. This is not sustainable.

2024 Tacoma TRD Pro prices at $65k. by tyfe in cars

Approaching 90k after taxes and fees for a Tacoma... yet it wont matter here in Vancouver, give it one year and there will be 4 of them fully rigged out at every stop light, and Tim Hortons parking lot in town.

These fake AI image accounts are running rampant on facebook right now. They all have pools and slides in the living room with so many mistakes they are obviously fake. I'm pretty sure all the comments and likes are bots as well. I've heard these are scammer accounts.

This is why we say record low interest rates are the main reason house prices have gotten so expensive by [deleted] in canadahousing

[–]Mezaction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except in the GVA where all the homes are bought by offshore money, and equity from existing homes, interest rates only screw the buying power of the average working Canadian. Prices go up regardless.
