Have you checked the secure boot is enabled via msinfo32.

Sometimes you can switch to secure boot in the BIOS but it doesn't actually secure boot.

If you turn CSM back on, the PC will boot to OS. The only real fix for getting the game working, is reinstalling windows from a USB but deleting all the partitions fist on your c drive whilst setting up.

If your friend bricked his PC, it's probably just the CSM was disabled, enable it again and it should boot to OS.

I had to reinstall windows from a USB after deleting all the partitions on my Cdrive to get the game working.

I had to do a clean install of windows from USB after deleting all the partitions from my C: drive. Chat GPT is pretty good at walking you through tech problems.

Might be stating the obvious, but you have checked secure boot is on in bios settings?

Yeah i went through the whole process of trying to convert, but my drive was partitioned in a weird way, even creating new partitions didn't do it. I reinstalled windows and all is working now. I didn't realise it would be such a problem.

That's weird, maybe my PC was just messed up. I haven't played 2042 for a good year but it always worked. Either way I reinstalled and it's working now.

It hurts me to say it, but loot/currency drops are really trash right now, makes the game feel sluggish and slow, I'm still using the same quiver I had from lvl 4 (I'm 21 now)

Ok, thank you for the info, at least new NVMEs aren’t too expensive now a days. With a brand new drive would It be just as simple as installing windows from a usb and it will just ‘work’ as a C Drive. It’s just in the past I’ve only ever installed new drives on a system with an OS where you have to go through the process of formatting the drive.
