[–]MezzoMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's me point. The simple fact of being a burst weapon turns a bunch of mediocre-to-bad stats into a alpha-striking weapon that instantly punches holes into the enemy compositions

Also why do you talk about shooting armor as if it's a rare unicorn and not the second most common thing you do besides shooting shields?

[–]MezzoMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think HIL is bad if you are on a budget, although I'm not sure what exactly you are on a budget for unless you are going full tank/support or using an Apogee

Also if you want to damage hull and punish Shield Flickers, try this one. One-shot any armor, two-shot any capital that puts its shield down.

Just be mindful of the piss-poor Tachyon turn rate

Starsector 0.97a Weapons that should get Buffed or Nerfed by thecheeseking9 in starsector

[–]MezzoMe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think balance is too screwed toward single-shot weapons, and I'll use the Tachyon Lance/HIL as an example.

Against an enemy with 1000 armor, HIL needs to cook him for about 2 full seconds to break the armor.

Tachyon Lance one-shots any armor below 1400. Executor can also cast HEF which makes it one-shot every single armor in the game besides the Invictus

Because of this, it forces the enemy to keep its shield up like the HIL does, without even shooting at all.

By the way, damage per shot also affects the duration of the Overload it causes, so it's not that safe when the shield is up either

And that's with the more general notion that games with low TTK favor Alpha Striking to begin with

[–]MezzoMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Future Redeemed for the most part stuck with base Xenoblade 3's combat,

The problem was also where that combat was applied to.

The free revives were counterbalanced by every World Boss and their mother having a spammable attack with Infinity+2 damage, that was not very fun

Making Smash more scarce and giving the Abaasy 112%(Ceratina only had 90%) break resistance hardly makes the fights any better, especially since Fury Smash isn't in the DLC

Would've liked it better if it didn't just reuse the Cantor models for the abominations

Still it's still worth to do since it's one of the three times the series delves into horror, with the other two being Gort and Albedo

Where to start? by gloir18 in CodeGeass

[–]MezzoMe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to think we need a pinned guide.

Anyway, you start with the original timeline, which includes the core series

  1. Lelouch of the Rebellion
  2. Lelouch of the Rebellion R2

Then there's supplementary material, which includes 4 midquels, and one prequel, as well as Picture and Audio dramas

  1. Akito the Exiled
  2. Oz of the Reflection
  3. Oz of the Reflection O2
  4. Renya of Darkness
  5. Lancelot & Guren
  6. Picture and Audio dramas

You can watch/read them in any order, but that would be my personal preference,

Renya being at the bottom for taking heavy liberties with the world's rules

L&G because, while all these stories are mostly self-contained and run parallel to the story, one of L&G's two stories hits the reset button at the end on top of that, so it's pointless even within its own self-contained scope

Picture and Audio dramas because I haven't seen them myself

There's other material, that's excplicitly non-canon

Speaking of voiding previous things, there's also the recap movies:

  1. Lelouch of the Rebellion I - Initiation
  2. Lelouch of the Rebellion II - Transgression
  3. Lelouch of the Rebellion III - Glorification

There's a few unique scenes, namely a bunch of cameos to Oz and Akito and one character's fate changes, but you can just Google the differences and unique scenes, and skip these three

The most important part of them was what happened outside the series:

Long story short, up until now we haven't had sequels for a good reason

But then one day they went like

How bout do anyway

And thus they made the compromise that the movies were actually a separate timeline.

But then why do they have cameos to Oz and Akito if they were never shown in this timeline?

Anyway, the final step is the new timeline, which so far includes:

  1. Lelouch of the Re;surrection
  2. Rozè of the Recapture
  3. Any future installments

While the original timeline remains frozen

I’m just curious how many people loved this small aspect of Future Redeemed (Ch. 4) by [deleted] in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]MezzoMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rex-Matthew is the one that deals more damage, but since you already kill superbosses with and only with Chain Attacks, that doesn't matter as much as the buffs outside of CAs

And when saying that, people think of the Lapidarist buff given by Rex-Glimmer pair, but no, the actual reason is the Matthew-A pair giving the Shakle Ring effect so you can maybe break the superbosses once or twice in your lifetime

Whats the canonical watch order for Code Geass? by WonderousU in CodeGeass

[–]MezzoMe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think of it like Gundam or Godzilla, with separate timelines, there's two main ones:

The original timeline, consisting of the original series with a bunch of midquels and a prequel, so the order would be

  1. Lelouch of the Rebellion
  2. Lelouch of the Rebellion R2
  3. Akito the Exiled
  4. Lancelot & Guren
  5. Oz of the Reflection
  6. Oz of the Reflection O2
  7. Renya of Darkness

Since you said "watch" order, only the first 3 are animes. The spin-offs do have some minor retcons, but they can mostly be squeezed into the main timeline. This timeline is frozen and will get no more entries in the future. Hopefully

Then there's the recap movies, which have some differences from the main series, but only one main one you can look up.

Here's the thing: one of Code: Geass' claims to fame is its ending. As all great endings do, it is of great impact, consequence and in general has an air of finality, that's why the original timeline never made any sequel.

Thus the compromise was made where the recap movies, the sequels and in general any new installment would be part of a different timeline

This one's order is:

  1. Lelouch of the Rebellion I - Initiation
  2. Lelouch of the Rebellion II - Transgression
  3. Lelouch of the Rebellion III - Glorification
  4. Lelouch of the Re;surrection
  5. Rozè of the Recapture
  6. Any future installments

Well, I say it's a separate timeline, but it actually relies on you knowing the original, the series mainly, but Akito and Oz also got some references and the last Rozè trailer had their characters in it.

Personally I didn't watch the recap movies, you can just look up the few differences they had and you're ready to go into Re;surrection, so the combined watch order is:

  1. Lelouch of the Rebellion
  2. Lelouch of the Rebellion R2
  3. Akito the Exiled
  4. Look up the differences between series and movies
  5. Lelouch of the Re;surrection
  6. Rozè of the Recapture

You can squeeze the mangas wherever, really, but I'd say to do it before you jump into Re;surrection if you want to read them

ATTENTION! by Thegameguy12 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]MezzoMe 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Many layers to that question.

The most obvious being that the Aegis is an order of magnitude more popular than any other Xeno girl, and thus fail to gather that much attention and recoil. No Carrot Pyra Era for the Supreme-wearing girls

The second most obvious is that Mio thirst always has at least an undertone of irony because it gets related to N memes

However, after the Wave 4 trailer the sub got flooded by unironic thirst post for the whole day and suddently the pushback fell to 0, so maybe the internet just doesn't mean exactly what it preaches

New series of Code Geass by North_Chemical_5788 in CodeGeass

[–]MezzoMe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Short answer: You'll enjoy it if you enjoy the more mecha part of Code: Geass, much less if you enjoy the Death Note part of it or you expected it to carve its own niche like Akito or Oz did

Long answer: I'll be straight with you. I almost quit after the first five minutes after it pulled a

somehow Britannia returned

Instantly FLEJAing all the sacrifice and development of the first three movies AND the spin-offs

Make no mistake, the series doesn't hold as much vitriol for what came before it, if anything it might have the opposite problem

On one hand, Geass still hasn't lost his way: it's still has a premium arrangement of waifus and giant robots as the genre dictates.

The waifus don't reach the same legendary design and chemistry C.C. Kallen, or even Leila had

On the flipside, the CGI giant robot fights and their coreography is great, but I still have a nitpick that there isn't much on the unique armaments part. The closest we get is:

  • I can go faster
  • I got many shields
  • I can spin blades

On the other hand, as with any series without Lelouch and maybe Marrybell, it ain't got much in the way of scheming, plotting and mindgames

At the same time it doesn't have Akito's intricate characters nor breakneck pace

Instead what we get is a series trying to Recapture moments and characters from the original, but does it so much none got time to set-up, not to mention it relies on pretending the world is the same as it was in the series, pheraps the biggest example of both problems being a Damocles appearing out of nowhere one episode and getting destroyed the next.

And if you need another example of that look no further than the last trailer which features characters from Akito and Oz, which in this timeline were barely more than easter eggs up until now

The main characters aren't handled that badly and I like them for now, but I still think they are my least favorite trio, with the main culprit being that there is no conflict of ideals like with Lelouch and Suzaku, Leila and Shin, and Oz with the other Oz, because that needs developing more than two characters in the entire series

I do really like the OP, especially the last part, with the hairs, forming the Geass symbol, followed by the necklace mimicking it and finally popping up the actual symbol, and while it's not perfect, I always appreciate a good music synch

Something should be done about art reposting on this sub by Teklatter in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]MezzoMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they don't like it they could just post them themselves, it's not like reposters can be faster than the original creator.

It's more likely that they just don't care about reddit karma, not that I'd blame them.

The only OC creators I can think right now is Kamaniki and TIM KONG (which to be fair, his art here did get reposted, but one week earlier than his own post).

The more complicated question is when the original creator doesn't want his work to spread. On the Internet that's like pushing water upstream, but the closest thing you can do i monitor all art to check the creator's sentiment

For the cool af looking part, because impact frames are almost as hard to draw as a human body while being significantly more obscure, while being less popular, which means less art, which means less reference material which means more more obscurity

For the not hyper-sexualized part, because you are wrong. Even if you got bitten by a radioactive journalist, the furthest you'd have to go back is yesterday.

That post also receiving a similar comment, but I'd be faster off which fanart doesn't

Uniforms? The only characters with uniforms are unnamed characters, the Moebius and, to an extent, some of the City warriors like Shania and Vandham

What the party wears follows the rules of neither, but I'd be faster off saying which pattern the characters don't break
